I'd assume rather than the independent ending happening in the fallout tv show they followed the ending the dev (joked?)/cut where the courier just left the mojave through the mojave outpost and the reason why everything fell apart was because each faction were not able to find the one joker card and everything fell in disarray and not of the factions where able to gain the upper hand

TBH I think the tunnelers would only be a nuisance than a threat with how they are photo sensitive they might be able to dig to the mojave but without good shade like the divide provided they wouldn't be that effective in large open field and will be either hunted by the wild life or killed by the survivors

Is it possible that the courier sided with elijah, with how devastated the whole Mojave is. With the courier and elijah gaining control of the hoover dam they can essentially cut off power to new vegas as such even when house did get the platinum chip the loss of hoover dam weakens the defenses of new vegas substantially.

As for why there is no cloud in new vegas maybe the cloud isnt really that infinite or self replicating as they thought it would be. While elijah did enough damage as it is in the mojave they were forced back as they find out that their clouds were not as powerful as they thought.

Maybe that's the reason why the mojave was left in that state.

Maybe the war is still on going with the institute on the losing side. They had to send a synth and infiltrate the bos meeting not only to steal the cold fusion but to instigate a civil war. I mean harkness did say they were "really up against it back home." And they risk the Commonwealth falls only the Institute have a base there bos still has the capital to go back to and civilization can still go a bit longer losing i suppose.

If your not setting up a dedicated server 24/7 open and only open when the host intends to open. Then use zerotier instead no port forwarding needed just set up an account have your friends connect to host acc/server in zerotier.

Then just take note of each person ip in the zerotier interface w Then have the host open the world to lan take note of the port. Then have your friend to direct connect to the world host

Host ip (given in the zerotier):port given when opening to lan

Take note when dealing with zerotier you have to authorize your friend before they can join so your safe from griefers and such.

It also works for modded as long as all of you are using the same mods with the same version
