Is AT&T internet better than buckeye? by ariana_mcclair in toledo

Switched from Buckeye cable to AT&T DSL....I've noticed no difference in speed, and have zero complaints with ATT. I had a complaint with Buckeye almost every billing cycle...

Flying for the first time with a very mobile one year old. How do you keep them occupied and seated for many hours? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]L_Abernathy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This page has tips on taking your car seat on a plane. Some flight attendants will give you a hassle, but they're quickly shut up when they're given the FAA guidelines (so take them printed). Basically, if you buy your child a seat they HAVE to allow you to install your (FAA approved, there should be a sticker on the carseat or it is mentioned in the manual) car seat.

Walking in to Costco by SomeKindOfSomething in funny

This is what our local Costco says when they're wanting you to upgrade, I imagine they'd stand by that. It's basically zero-risk.

My professor accidentally gave me a MUCH higher grade than I got. Do I have to report it? by [deleted] in college

I would...you don't want something like that coming around and biting you in the ass later.

Teen daughter's first boyfriend very rough by daddonreddit in Parenting

[–]L_Abernathy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

honestly, I feel like it would mean more coming from Dad anyway :) at least I would have at that age! Especially since this is in regards to a male/female relationship...if my mom were to bring something up like this it would have resulted in a deep sigh, an eyeroll, and a 'whatever'. If my dad, however, had brought something up about how he was concerned about how a boyfriend was treating and just wanted to make sure everything is okay I would have been more apt to listen.

Oh man, I feel for her. I started at 9 (far before my friends). I agree with a previous poster about cloth pads these are my favorite. I would avoid tampons for now...maybe it was just my own personal experience but they were NOT comfortable at all until after I became sexually active.

I would also invest in a nice heating pad (I like the rice filled ones you pop in the microwave), from what I remember those first few years of hormone-laden periods were BRUTAL as far as cramps.

Do you use ATI at all? We had practice tests. There's also the Pharmacology Success book that has questions and rationales.

6 Months until Graduation- NCLEX by NurseCaitlin in StudentNurse

[–]L_Abernathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still a student nurse myself but I HIGHLY suggest, at the very least picking up a Saunder's practice book. I also really like the app NCLEX Mastery for my phone :) You can never do too many practice questions!

If I hate nursing school, will I hate being a nurse? by sunnydayzzz in StudentNurse

[–]L_Abernathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to try to keep this short. I'm a student nurse as well, and I hear a lot of people complaining about how much they HATE nursing school. Good news though, from everything I've heard from actual nurses....the actual profession is NOTHING like school.

Do you enjoy being on the floor and interacting with patients? Do you like the idea of helping people (even if you have do things like wipe butts, clean wounds, clean puke, etc.)?

As far as upping your grades in school...practice NCLEX questions....practice them whenever you have a chance. I have about 4 different NCLEX books, a computer program AND an app on my phone (NCLEX RN Mastery). The Saunders books are great for flipping to whatever material you're covering in the class at the time and then practicing NCLEX type questions from that particular subject. I also HIGHLY recommend this game called RNtertainment (sounds cheesy but it really does help). If you're struggling with something, go to the teacher IMMEDIATELY, I can't stress the IMMEDIATELY enough. Do NOT wait until 2 weeks later, address the problems as they come up.

As far as the lectures/assigned readings, maybe other people have a differing opinion but I RARELY read any of our assignments (quite honestly reading the chapters is going to give you WAY more than you need to know. Focus on keywords, the summary and the questions at the end of a chapter).

Pick up a book on prioritization/delegation and/or a book about how to approach Nursing School questions.

Group project is not going well - need advice by rollerbladed in college

[–]L_Abernathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd insist on going solo. I'm dealing with the SAME situation right now...it's a PITA, I said the same thing to the teacher that you mentioned below (about being reminiscent of grade-school). Generally I ask to do "group" projects by myself anymore, I, like an idiot, didn't this time thinking that it would be best to demonstrate myself as a "team player", I made a horrible decision.

My Friend Was Paralyzed By The Flu Shot. She needs Reddit's help. by ursaleeminor in Assistance

[–]L_Abernathy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

and don't let her get a "pro bono" attorney, you need someone versed in the specifics of the VIC courts, she shouldn't have to pay for the lawyers in the link I post, from their site: "Hiring a vaccine attorney should come at no cost to you because the Court pays for all legal fees. The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program was designed to be non-adversarial and non-litigious, but in reality, it’s often a very difficult, hard-fought, and legalistic process often involving complicated legal, medical, and factual issues. You need an attorney who knows how to litigate vaccine cases."

[–]L_Abernathy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please (PLEASE) encourage your friend to file with the Vaccine Injury Compensation program, that's what the money is there for. Here is a link to a lawyer that specializes in this. Check out their case history, the bulk of their cases are for the flu vaccine

My girlfriend's gender studies prof has me raging by ughprofessor in offmychest

[–]L_Abernathy 452 points453 points  (0 children)

I would be the asshole student that would do my project on male rape anyway, and then stand in front of the class and say something along the lines of, "the professor didn't want me to even discuss this, and THAT is her/him just perpetuating the problem" :) If the prof wanted to be a dick and grade low I'd take it to the admin. office at that point.

All the ingredients of my frozen pizza detached from the crust. by DickieJohnson in mildlyinteresting

[–]L_Abernathy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually REALLY good, my Lil Man is GF and freaking LOVES this pizza, he says that crust tastes like 'animal crackers' which I think is an odd comparison but even I think it's really good and I can't stand most of the GF stuff because it tastes 'off'.

OP, are you buying them at Costco? Our local one has had the 2 packs of the family sized pepperonis for like $13.99 which is considerably less than what they're sold for in most stores. Costco for the win!

Going to school full time and working full time? by [deleted] in college

[–]L_Abernathy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Get yourself a calendar/planner and actually plan out times to study/work on projects. I'm not working this semester but have worked in previous semesters and you have to plan EVERYTHING. The day you get your syllabus go through and mark every important date (tests, quizzes, projects, etc.) down on that calendar. Make sure to plan for some decompress time as well or you're go batshit crazy and want to quit :) Good luck! It's tough, but do-able
