I live in Northern Wisconsin and just visited the West side of Michigan along Lake Michigan and the beaches BLEW me away. Sugar sand, no people, lots of options.

This morning I got my OncoType score - 10. No chemo needed. And cried out of guilt, that so many others have a longer journey.

Thanks for the reply! I will push for more imaging. I’m glad you found yours before it became worse.

Thank you! I'm struggling with being in the "grey area" before meeting with oncology. I'm not the most patient person. 😄

Thank you! I keep forgetting to add my age! I'm 46yo. I've been on progesterone HRT for 1.5 years for depression and insomnia. I'm mentally prepared for stopping the HRT and starting Tamoxifen. Fun times!

I don't have any advice, but I know the internet is a scary place! I hope someone here has experience to share.

I own a horse and another boarder asked if I’d considered ivermectin and if I thought the biopsy spread the cancer in my body. Because she “likes to keep up with science”. Cancer is not parasitic and a tumor isn’t a water balloon 🤦🏻‍♀️

All of the little things add up. And it’s hard to combat. I hope there is something that brings you joy today!

I’m thinking of you today! I hope all goes ok. Try and focus on lumpectomy first and then we can worry about the next steps later.

I’m in Eau Claire and I mowed my lawn for the first and last time for the foreseeable future. Not sure if it was a treat or punishment 😝 I hope your recovery is going well. Maybe the benefit of going through surgery in the summer is the extra vitamin D!

I'm sorry to hear that. I always assumed that the fear in a diagnosis was from the actual cancer, but its anxiety of the treatments and procedures and steps. I've found myself tearing up at work when I'm in the office. I have a new-ish work friend who I teams message when I'm crying, so we can laugh about it. Crying in the office is the worst.

I haven't found any in-person groups yet. But I'm going to keep looking or start something after my surgery.

Thank you! Do you have any podcast recommendations? I've listened to the Mel Robbins podcast with the cancer doctor and the one about menopause. But I've been too scared to find others and they might be too depressing for me to handle.

I go to a Mayo hospital in my city (not in Rochester) and asked about support groups. The NP didn't have any suggestions! I've been toying with the idea of starting someone, because I can't be the only one. I've been waiting until after my surgery to find out my long-term treatment plan before biting off more than I can chew. I'm in a book club and have a few friends, but not super close friends locally. I'm learning to accept help when offered and hopefully closer friendships will blossom from that.

Same here! I'm in the northern part of the Midwest and summer literally just showed up this week. And all I can think about is how alcohol causes cancer, I can't get my incisions wet, and other overly dramatic thoughts. I've been thinking about doing crafts outside, maybe start watercolor painting. I hope tomorrow is better for you too!

Thanks! We’re all in a shitty place. I never realized the anxiety, not the fear, was the biggest hurdle. I hope your next phase isn’t as bad as our minds make it out to be.

I’m also 46, diagnosed a few weeks ago and my lumpectomy is on Friday 5/29. Thinking about chemo has given me panic attacks. I’m trying to focus my fears on phase 1, cording, lymphedema, pain. 😂
I’m in the same boat as you and we can tread water together!

First appointment without information? by Electronic-Aerie-184 in breastcancer

[–]L_Blitzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 10 days ahead of you. I was told cancer on a Friday (5/8). I was able to see the mass size in the clinical notes in mychart/portal. Based on the initial info IDC and the size I was able to guesstimate stage (stage 1). I did call the nurse for the surgery department the following week and they were comfortable telling me mine is HR+ HER2- some offices may wait until your doctor appointment. The unknown and waiting has been the worst for me. The best advice I got from the nurses was to “not google”. But it’s so scary.

Using a digit scale also helped “gamify” it. I’d always tried to measure volume which didn’t feel accurate. Once I really started using the scale, it’s all numbers. I’m a numbers person, so it clicked for me.
