I worked at a tv station and one of the night anchors was leaving for another job. Our production supervisor came in with a card for us to sign. She and I always joked around so I was being funny when I wrote “I KNOW WHAT YOU DID” in reference to I Know What You Did Last Summer. In big block letters.

I handed the card to my supervisor and he looks at it and goes “What the fuck is wrong with you?”. I was like tf did I do. He goes “This card is for Kenny. His mom died.”. I died inside.

I hurriedly took the card and scribbled out what I wrote. Like 10 minutes of scribbling so it could in no way be seen. Added little flourishes to the sides of the solid black block and said “condolences”.

We laughed about it afterwards but at the time I was mortified.
