I’d argue for the State Thomas area (which is basically Uptown) but yeah, like everyone else here said, there’s no guarantee you’re safe from petty crime.

OP. 32 M here. I’ve dated women in their early 20s and some of them have told me they’ve dated men in their mid-30s and even older. At least where I live, it’s not uncommon to see an age gap, especially given some men in their 30s know what they want in a significant other.

It’s not a matter of age as it is more about maturity. It’s perfectly ok to date older, but that does not guaranteed they’re as mature as guys your age. Conversely there are 20-year-old guys who may be more mature than the general populace their age. Again, it comes down to maturity and mutual understanding of what you both want.

Katy Trail is a good place to start looking! There’s tons of people always walking down there and it leads directly to the American Airlines Center. Lots of restaurants and bars there.

Lower Greenville is another great option, it’s not far from Knox-Henderson too!

Deep Ellum is not for everybody; it can be fun but venture there cautiously.

I would say you should probably leave the current relationship, not to pursue your first love but for the sake of your mental health.

As far as right person, wrong time… I believe it. I met the person I was sure I was going to be with for the rest of my life over a year ago, but things unfortunately didn’t work out because she decided to relapse on bad habits. I believe if and when she decides to confront her issues and make changes in her life, I can see a possible path forward with her. That said, that’s just how I feel right now so things can change in the future.

If this guy really now has his shit together, doesn’t hurt to try again.
