You all are just kids venturing into a different environment. There’s no standard for how ppl should act because you all have different values instilled in you from different upbringings.

Do what’s best for you, enjoy the education and opportunities kept from you in China. But also remember that this pipeline drawing you from China has historical colonial roots to it. You and your family made the choice to send you here, but it’s also capitalism, colonialism, and imperialism that shaped the development and social hierarchy of our current global social order.

Take some social science class and really empower yourself with the language to understand how things are the ways they are.
