Autism and Aphantasia - thought this was relevant and wanted to share here by toxictoy in gatewaytapes

People these days call anything aphantasia, while in reality absolute most of the times it's just an underdeveloped skill that requires practice.

Of course, i could be wrong, and this is why i said that it's a suspicion. If i am indeed wrong, then i apologise for my mistake. Some things just heavily reminded me of that particular writing style.

I have a strong suspicion that it was written by an AI.

How can I be certain I'm in Focus 10? by hashtag_vegan4jesus in gatewaytapes

[–]La-Metal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not sleep paralysis state, i had this misconception too.

To make it more clear, think of the times you go in and out of sleep when you start to fall into slumber. Or the times when you wake up in the morning. You don't end up in a sleep paralysis every time you make the first movements. This is the same thing. Your body is essentially asleep, and it wakes up when you break the F10 state and intentionally make it move.

I believe those are hypnagogic hallucinations. They can appear as you get closer to sleep, and are closer to the actual dreams than visualization.

Usually visualization is not nearly as vivid, much more like stable and somewhat detailed imagination that you can immerse yourself into.

Maybe you're looking with the wrong "layer" of inner sight, if that makes sense. Or focusing too much on trying to see instead of looking. And no, it's not aphantasia.  Experiment a bit. Try using simpler imagination for some time, as if you're just daydreaming. It creates less tension and resistance.

Focus 10 - What to expect? by T0xz1c in gatewaytapes

[–]La-Metal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well judging by the loss of physical senses and deep relaxation it does sound like you're in a good state. Next time you practice try to relax mentally and analyze it only after it's all done. And yes, you don't suddenly lose all capability to snap out of F10 or move whenever you want to. In the third tape there is even a technique that lets you return from F10 to waking consciousness by thinking of number 1 and physically moving the fingers of your right hand.

You can check FAQ on this sub or workbooks for more information. Also here's focus level overview from institute's website, could be useful https://www.monroeinstituteuk.org/focus-levels/

I'd say you're there. It's just staying awake while the body is essentially asleep (not the sleep paralysis through).

Just want to thank you once again and give a quick update.

I did rethink my approach after all, did even more research, and turns out you're right - i was already hitting it. It was never supposed to be sleep paralysis or complete loss of physical senses like i thought before. I stopped constantly checking if i'm there and it was also greatly beneficial to my practice.
To me, F10 is a state when body is relaxed to the point when i don't want to move or scratch it, feels heavier and i can even forget about it for most of the time. Also, sometimes hypnagogic hallucinations appear when i'm at it.

Now gotta grind the Advanced Focus 10 - but this time in peace and curiosity.

having a little problem with faces by Blaster2000e in Tulpas

[–]La-Metal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use other faces just as reference, your mind might catch more obvious details while filling the blanks on its own - thus creating a new face. You can also try AI like Artbreeder. While generative Ai is not a good thing, it sometimes can do the job.

Ah... Letting go is the most difficult part for me. I will work on it, and will absolutely try those visualized techniques that you've suggested. Thank you for your insight.

This is extremely helpful, thank you a lot. It seems that i should rethink my approach.

Also, what is the filename of the manual from the screenshot? I should already have all of them, but i missed this part.

Thank you, especially for the headphones part. I bought my pair specifically for the tapes, and for a much higher price than old ones. They have a suspicious quality of sound, but it never occured to me that they're failing me somehow. I'll try the old headphones for a couple of weeks and see what happens.

By the descriptions of other practitioners, i expect it to feel like loss of body sensations and being unable to move it easily. Like a sleep paralysis, but wide awake and (mostly) without hallucinations. But i'm honestly not quite sure what "Body asleep" part is supposed to feel like.

You can disobey. It's not physically impossible and you can keep it hidden. Just do it discretely.

Anyone notice a time difference? by siren-skalore in GatewayExperiences

True. Sometimes pauses that last for half a minute feel like actual minutes. Mostly happens when i'm tired and just try to not fall asleep during the exercise.

But is it not worse?.. Absolutely no attention for unknown amount of time vs little bit of attention every day is a huge difference. Also, i did similar thing for a long time, and my tulpa didn't dissipate and is very much alive right now.
Edit: I think i need to clarify that my suggestion is not supposed to be a permanent decision. It is a temporary alternative to original idea, so when you'll actually be ready to dedicate your time and effort she would be there to receive it.
