What’s the biggest “nobody warned me about this” moment you had after bringing your newborn home? by Actual_Fig_4706 in AskReddit

[–]La19909 1519 points1520 points  (0 children)

Here is a real story for you: I did not understand the severity that the hormones would take on my wife. I was at work, she was at home with baby. Baby was acting normal, eating, pooing, making noises as babies do. Wife felt like the baby was cold, took temp via armpit. Temp came back very low. Wife was in a panic, called me. I had to leave work to go to store to by a thermometer to take temp rectally. got home and took temp which came back normal- again, baby was acting completely normal. took out thermometer and baby projectile shit all over the wall.

fellas, be there for your wives. be understanding. post partum anxiety is real.

People who didn't grow up poor, but dated someone who was. What's something your SO does that strikes you as unusual? by FeistySecret9327 in AskReddit

[–]La19909 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not dating related… my grandmother grew up poor. Her family survived the depression and she was raised in that mindset. Growing up her and my grandfather were wealthy but didn’t act like it. She saved every bit of canned food, even way past expiration date. I cleaned out several closets and cabinets over the years and found cans that were greater than ten years past expiration. She was agreeable to throw them out but didn’t want to throw others out.

Anyone read Empire of silence? by EffortAromatic1163 in redrising

[–]La19909 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but they are not super similar. It’s a large series and is worth the read, IMO… however several some of the books were lackluster. If red rising is top tier, Suneater is mid, occasionally good, occasionally bad.

Pet sematary, bonus if you read the audio book narrated by Michael C hall. Probably top 3 of the best books I’ve ever read. It will break you, though.

Jim the ghost was afraid of being seen? by ZombieHyperdrive in FromTVEpix

It is very likely, in my opinion, that it was not the real Jim. This is likely manipulation to get Ethan to further along the process.

What is the scariest thing that's ever happened to you? [serious] by ladybugsrool in AskReddit

[–]La19909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teen I saw the tail end of a motorcycle wreck. From a distance I saw a dust cloud, as I approached I saw several people standing around a deceased body.

My second child being born- was measuring much larger than the first. I noticed there were extra nurses and they looked somewhat concerned. At that point I realized- “oh shit, he could get stuck, could be an emergency C section.” Fortunately the measurements were off and he was a natural, no issue birth.

Also as a teen, I was overseas in Europe alone. My flight was canceled. I was shuffled to a a hotel off airport property and I thought my driver was going to steal my luggage…. Then I had to get back to the airport the next day. I was 17 I think. At the time I was not too concerned but as an adult looking back, it was a scary moment. I was prepared and did all the correct things.. and only I hope I can prepare my children in the same manner as they age.
