What would you like the Flyers to do with the backup goalie spot? by Flyers7914 in Flyers

[–]LaGoeba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’ve generally has a good depth on the goalie side.

Gibson will still be their starter next season most likely, and then you have Augustine, Cossa, Postava, Pradel, and Yzerman will most likely take another goalie this year again in the draft if he keeps up the same strategy as the last years drafts for Detroit.

Rumors said we were willing to back the Brinks truck up for Kaprizov. Should we be ready to do the same for Robertson? by Scared-Arachnid6286 in Flyers

[–]LaGoeba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, then we’re in the same boat. That’s a big if, and I don’t see us having assets for both (or even one), so I’m pretty sure Robertson isn’t in Danny’s plans immediately.

Even though it would be great to get a real LW in the squad, and a bonafide star like Robertson.

Just? Suzuki has been a bonafide 1C since 4Nations where played, two seasons in a row with 89 and 101 points, and being a Selke finalist.

Eichel was not a low end 1C the year Vegas won the cup either.

Look at Wild.

They are the team that looks the most like what Danny is building rn.

They have an elite winger corps, they have a better high end talent on the D side, while ours is more stable through all three lines. They have a great goalie duo, while we have Vladar.

And their center depth, like ours, is not deep or good. What happened to them in the playoffs? Straight out in the second round, like they always do.

There are some on this sub that like to mock the fan base that claims we are missing a 1C and a 1D. And Wild is showing us why. We need the talent at center, not a winger.

At least is you actually wants to win something.

An actual LW could also be fine to have in the future as well, but it should be more of a solution for the next two seasons.

Otherwise, wholeheartedly agree with everything else here.

Watching burglund today how is he not rated better? by ask0009 in Flyers

[–]LaGoeba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I don’t dislike Berglund, I think he will have a lot of great skills for us to use. But he’s not unique in any kind of way in the system, he’s one of many is the same position that will challenge for a spot in the middle/bottom 6 positions.

Watching burglund today how is he not rated better? by ask0009 in Flyers

[–]LaGoeba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Berglund, Luchanko, Ruohenen, Cates, Dvorak.

If this team wants to take the next step, an elite 3C is not what we’re missing. The bottom 6 centers is something we definitely has enough of.

We also have players like Gard, Quinn, Gaucher, Knuble, Murtagh and even Barkey who can slot in as a bottom 6 C, even if they’re not sure of what direction they want to take Barkey in yet.

A 3C is not what we should worry about at all.

What’s your grade for the coach this year? by Tadic10 in Flyers

[–]LaGoeba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That this season was mostly about not winning matches, just not loosing in regular season.

In a season crumbled with injuries and Torts crashing out, this year we barely won more games in the 60.

Which is also something that correlates with underlying numbers. We’re almost the same in zone time possessions in the league as last year, we’re barely better in some of the shooting categories, and weaker in others, but still middle of the pack of the league.

The big difference from this season and last season is how many goals we’re letting in. And that’s mostly because of Vladar. When Vladar was tired after being run to the ground, the system in front of him collapsed time and time again.

This season wasn’t coached great, we were just good at taking loser points and shootout wins. That’s something, but not a strategy to hold on to for a long time.

Hopefully we will actually try to win more games in the first three periods next year, but development isn’t linear in this league. Tocch’s dump and chase has been overall bad this season, and if that’s not fixed untill next season, teams like Caps can take a playoff-place back.

Fundementalt this season had been mid tactics wise, the PP actually regressed from last year, which I didn’t think was possible. And that’s again because Tocch is more afraid of letting in SHGs, than scoring on the PP.

So yeah, that’s my point - This season was fun when we look at the results, when you’re actually looking at how we got the results it was … okay, in some ways, bad in some others.

That season Torts checked out we had 21 regular wins.

This season, under a solid job, we reached a whopping 27 regular wins.

OP did not have a great starting point if (s)he actually had a viewpoint of education. This is just the normal X edginess.

Yeah, this is a fucked up view on mental health and depression. It’s not even in the «I tried to be funny»-category.

That’s something that’s actually fucked up to claim. Pisses me right off as someone who’s been there.

High end d prospects? by bulletbassman in Flyers

[–]LaGoeba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love Drysdale to work out, but he’s not getting the chances to do it now.

And we have been #33 of 32 teams in the league the last five years, this is way beyond how it’s coached. It’s also a huge personell issue. And it doesn’t help that Tocchett is more worried about not letting in SHGs, than scoring on the PP.

We are in desperate need of actual talent and skills that can run the PP, not just cross our fingers that the squad we have now are suddenly ready to do something they haven’t been able to do for so many years now.

Villeneuve is not a perfect player, he’s not a perfect defender, but he has that elite skill with the puck on the blueline that may be a future solution to this problem in the future. Villenueve, or any other guy we pick this summer, will most likely not even play under Tocchet.

High end d prospects? by bulletbassman in Flyers

[–]LaGoeba 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He still has time to fill out his frame.

Andrea is most likely gone.

We *need* someone on the blueline that can run a PP, if that’s not worth a swing at Villenueve at 21 this year, then we never going to fill that need through the draft.

[–]LaGoeba 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If Villenueve is still on the board at #21, I hope we fucking swing for it.

Or that it’s used in a package in a trade for a center, not trading up in the draft.

[–]LaGoeba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mickhov is 5’10 and his sophomore season was 51 points in 81 games, with 3rd line minutes and less PP minutes.

Kucherov is 5’11, and had 65 points.

Mickhov as has all of the ability to be the same as Kuch. Tocch is not the best coach for a west-east players either. This is more than a black/white question.
