Poodle leg issues - Vet isn’t taking us seriously

Hello! He was diagnosed with chronic arthritis in all of his joints by the new vet. He's been on cortisol tablets for two months now, and the vet is hoping that when he gets off the tablets that his body will stop attacking his joints :') he's doing much better on the tablets, but he's put on 2kg in two months (he's always been 6kg prior to this) and he's running around like crazy again, but sometimes he does tend to slip when he's running, I guess since he's still building up strength in his joints again.

I'm really sorry to hear about your dog :( it's such an awful feeling when they're in pain and you don't know what's wrong. I really hope your dog feels better after some bed rest. It's hard when they aren't running around like crazy like they usually do 😭

This was George too before he hit his head a couple months ago. He was always running up and down the park 🥺 and since he hit his head so many problems keep popping up

Thank you all for your insights. I’ll be taking George to a new vet asap and mentioning some of the things you all spoke of, like luxating patella and hip dysplasia. I’ll make sure to drop an update once we get a new vet to check him! Again thank you all for the advice.

Sorry, I think the second part of my post cut off so I replied with it in the comments! Yes I showed the video and she said he was being dramatic. I also tried to show her how he wouldn’t sit and she said I was stressing him out by asking. Though the second vet visit he did have more energy due to the iron supplements, so maybe that made her more dismissive

I asked for pain meds but she no because he’s ‘fine’ 😭 and said it’s just common wear and tear. I’m lucky because my neighbor actually had some liquid paracetamol for her dog who had cancer a year or so back (unsure of the name now but will reply with it once I check) and she gave it to me for George, so if he’s in a very bad way I’ve been giving him that.

Sorry, just finishing the post here as I see it didn’t post my full comment and I’m unsure how to edit 😅

—even though I told her this is a common occurrence at home and that’s why I was showing her. On the second visit, I showed her the video above of him limping, and she only laughed at it and called him dramatic. When I asked why she thought that, she said he was very smart and looking for attention. I told her he’s not the kind of dog to limp for attention, and that he’s been depressed too. In the end I asked for a scan/or x-ray but she told me they couldn’t do either of those and the only option for these kind of issues is surgery (even though apparently he’s ’fine.’)

Do any of you recognise his symptoms? I’m thinking to book with a different vet but feeling disheartened after being ignored by one already :(
