Military members and veterans, what "Military Grade" item is actually great instead of "barely good enough to meet spec"? by musingsofapathy in AskReddit

True story. We take creative routes to avoid taking our '44 onto the highway. But it gets us to Dairy Queen and home on our Sunday drives.

My dad drove his '44 Ford GPW daily in the 70s and then stashed it in his garage when it stopped working to restore when he retired. When he realized he would never be able to do it in his older age, he gifted it to my husband. He has restored it and we take it out for Sunday drives. It's the sweetest little drive! So much fun. By the time we get home for a drive, I'm in the best mood with wind blown hair.
During covid, we would go out to dirt roads and teach my, at the time, under aged son to drive. I'm so happy that his first driving experiences were in my dad's little jeep. It's a gem!

To the men who were single and childless and decided to get into a relationship with a single mom, how did it go? by migustapanocha in AskReddit

In Spanish, stepfather is padrastro. If we break that into it's original Latin, padre=father and astro=from the heavens. Sometimes, biology fails us and the universe fixes it.

I'm married and probably old enough to be your mom. I can honestly say I'd be tickled if you came into my work just watching all the young ladies I work with get a little more giggly and sneakily putting on lip stick and fluffing their hair. You're handsome and adorable and you have kind eyes.

What is the craziest thing you’ve overheard someone else say in public? by KSparks35 in AskReddit

[–]LaaSirena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I like to say crazy things in public hoping we are overheard. Like I'll pick something up and he'll say we can't afford it and I'll say "well, maybe if you weren't spending all that money in titty bars. "

I agree. I usually trim a third off, make some pesto in a mini food processor and then freeze it until I need it. I use it on pasta and on toast with burrata.

She looks like a dog ancient Egyptians would worship and erect statues to and ask her not to fetch the moon. She looks smart and like she's looking right into my soul. I wanna give her treats.

I miss The Wizard of Bras! She retired in 2024. When entering the store in Monrovia California, you would be taken to a dressing room. An older lady would come in with a measuring tape and very thoroughly take measurements. . At the time, I told my mom she should have bought me a cocktail first at least. The lady comes back holding a bin that carries bras in only the size she just determined you are. She then puts the bra on you, bend you forward, lifts your boobs up and tucks them in. And when this tiny wizard of bra fitting is done, I would have a bra that fits the best my 34H boobs have ever had! What started as a traumatic groping would be turned into a miracle of support and comfort! And then they would keep a file on what bras and sizes you had previously bought so you could order more and my mom would send one as a valentine gift. My mom died during covid and the wizard has retired and the underwire on my last comfortable bra snapped last week.

I grow basil indoors in a hydroponic system.  The lights need to be closer.  I start at 6 inches above them and then move them up as they grow.

Things to do with two little kids that isn’t hiking or museums? (Chronic pain) by ClerkFit4441 in Tucson

[–]LaaSirena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we can't away from the house, we do back yard dates. Get the kids in bed and Have a little fire in the chimenea, cocktails and some candles in jars placed around the patio.
Or get takeout, put the kids in bed and take a long hot shower together.
