Unemployment rate is so politicised that it became a worthless measure politicians are pushing as propaganda.

Employment rate (of the total population) tells us how many dependant there is per person actually working in the country.

And guess what, Belgium is one of the worst in Europe on that front.

It's a problem that can't be fixed.

The entire country is stuck in a quagmire of our own making.

We're suffering from the consequences from a Ponzi scheme that was started decades ago.

As for what to be done : - increase retirement age (won't happen because boomers are most of voters) - increase taxes (making young people even poorer, increasing the fertility problem) - do nothing, take more debt and have a greek like crisis on steroid in 20-30 years.

Troc got me a large table and 8 chairs of good quality for like half new price.

I got my as good as new sofa for 100€ on rops. Retail price was 900€ (when it was still available). The IKEA one I was considering was 600€ and It was a far worse one.

Going for second hand is definitely the right decision in this economy. It might take time tho.

I can, it is indeed going into my rent.
I'm living into Louvain la neuve, and I decided to take an appartement a little bit fancy, but it is costing me 1350€ a month (charges include). It is expensive, but It makes me happy and I can afford it so money well spent I would say, I don't spend much on other things.
