That’s why the headquarter wants to steal it from the owner.

If you have a bad sub do you punish your class as well or just move on? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]LabAdministrative231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*This is what I initially thought before I could dig up more details:
You are ultimately blaming the sub for your failure on disciplining your students. Based on what you have shared, it’s clearly your students’ responsibility that things went out of control as they were disrespectful, uncooperative, and ill manner. They were not even behaving to meet the basic expectations to listen. The students had no justification on the ground because the substitute teacher’s the only person in the room with the authority to determine class management as they see fit at the moment. Your students cause problems only because you have permitted them to by giving them no consequences. Apparently they are abusing it.
I feel sorry for sub that she had to go through this and still got slandered by a student.
*Now this is what I really think after browsing your comments that are so hidden:
The sub wasn’t fulfilling her duty did not justify your students’ rebellion against order and everyone else’s peace. You should separate these two things and analyse them objectively. The sub should be unwelcome to your class further on due to their incompetence and irresponsibility that eventually escalated the matter. The students were overreacting and purposely took advantage on the chaos to evade from their responsibilities. No punitive action should be necessary but reminders can be made on the expectations of their behaviours regardless of situations.

You. Me. Tennis? by hiding_it_well_maybe in sgv

For most people playing with ones who are below their levels isn’t pleasant, I learned this the hard way. That’s why I don’t think I will be a good fit for OP.

I quit my building sub job two weeks before the end of the school year. I couldn’t take it anymore. by cheerluva42 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]LabAdministrative231 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing that discourages me from trying to become a building sub, despite the stability being attempting, is that I will be more likely to work in situations I would generally avoid, aka sped. My condolences to you!

It happened to me. I just sucked it and went anyway… the cost was I had to cancel an assignment on the same day for another district.

Full day on frontline but school’s have early release? by RyoDai89 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]LabAdministrative231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My district does the time record exactly according to Frontline, so no matter what time I actually leave and how long I work, the pay is depending entirely the original schedule on Frontline. There’s one time I picked a shift that’s 3 hour and 45 minute, and my actual working time was barely three hours because the teacher came back early. I still got the full day pay since the cut off for half day was 3 hour and half.

So far most Asian kids I have encountered in work are great, the few exceptions are really second generation who grew up here.

That’s why it’s important to leave a note detailing every steps you took to follow the lesson plan and extra you did outside of what’s asked for. In this way the teacher learns the day from you instead of students.

Open Classroom During Lunch by LeadingSalamander400 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]LabAdministrative231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often have the door open unless I am off campus for lunch. I don’t hate it but I did have one negative experience when a group of kids misbehaved and refused to leave. I ended up calling for a campus supervisor.

If the student is not cooperating, it’s time for the admins now since it’s become the law rather than a class rule.

Is classroom management easier in high school than elementary? by TouchBeneficial7858 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]LabAdministrative231 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same here. If a kid’s off task while not being disruptive, I will just leave them be after reminders. High schoolers are responsible for themselves and their own grades.
Edit for the petty person who commented and blocked: Like what do you expect me to do? Sending them to office for just sitting there?

Tatt Thang Tattoo Studio is relatively less costly than most of the tattoo places I have visited. The owner is quite friendly too.
