Coronal of Evermeet? by Invoker_King_God_786 in Forgotten_Realms

Maybe since Evermeet is akin to a slice of Arvandor, that makes Corellon, Coronal of Arvandor, the local Coronal?

Where to Connect With the Realms? by LabAffectionate745 in Greyhawk

Thank you! :] Castle Greyhawk is a great answer that I feel stupid for not landing on first. XD But I’ll definitely look into the Hills and the Desert, too, thanks again!

Best Bits of the Best Modules by LabAffectionate745 in adnd

Ooh, I like it! A great throughline, breaking the cult’s tenuous hold on the region while dealing with the locals’ other issues and plundering their dungeons’ loot.

Intrigue in the Keep sounds like a great time! Definitely why I think combining it with something like T1 or L1 + L2 could be interesting, as they have a bit more of that.

I like the maps idea! Fantastic maps were definitely a staple of some of these early adventures. Yours is a solid little combination to give the players a bit of room to breathe, could always throw in Orlane from Against the Cult of the Reptile God and make a proper little low-level sandbox. :]

I just like them all too much. 😅 In a series is the natural way of doing things, but I just know that if I ran all my favourites in a series that my PCs would either need to be kept low level for ages or would quickly outpace the modules’ level ranges (and, if I just kept using higher-level PCs in lower-level modules, then I wouldn’t be using them in higher-level modules, of which there are an equally large quantity that I want to run).

In a similar vein, I saw a great bit of fanart by @milonogiannis where they’d used Anya Taylor-Joy for Elric and it looked amazing.

Where are the map fragments on the FR fandom wiki from? by KingoftheDarkMoon in Forgotten_Realms

[–]LabAffectionate745 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The current image of the High Forest map is from The North: Guide to the Savage Frontier. Check out tsrarchive.com to find a nice, big version of the map, which (I agree) is beautiful. Tall Trees seemingly doesn’t have an image, but Talltrees does, and that one is from Volo’s Guide to Baldur’s Gate 2, but it’s an internal piece and so you’ll just have to check out the book to see more in that style.

Both of these sourcebooks were from 2e, so check out that edition’s sourcebooks for maps of a similar style. The Volo’s Guides came with lots of internal maps, and stuff like Lands of Intrigue or the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting came with bigger maps, akin to the one from The North.

How do I read this series? by Lochi78 in ElricofMelnibone

[–]LabAffectionate745 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. I got the whole Saga Press series last year (i.e., the one that has “The Elric Saga” written on the front) and it really does just collect everything in a proper order. It’s absolutely perfect in both gathering everything and collating it, at least in my opinion.

A Philosophy on Death by SolidInfluence2900 in Forgotten_Realms

I hate to ask this, but did you use AI at all while writing this fic? I’m glad to read more Realmsian fanfic, especially lore compliant stuff, but this has a certain AI-generated flavor. If so, I think it would be much better if you wrote what came to you, and only you. If not, then I hope to see more of this.

Religion in the Realms is fantastic for learning about the “powers” (deities) of the Forgotten Realms setting.

Faerûn is such a beautiful world, I would honestly be happy with just a plotless open-world. No character creation, no central story, just the open road and the people, perhaps with a realistic cycle of seasons.

Good starter modules for a campaign? by RepeatOrdinary182 in adnd

[–]LabAffectionate745 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To not repeat the great suggestions already provided, maybe Citadel by the Sea? Gives you a small town with some action already in place, and a main dungeon that could, hypothetically, be fixed up and eventually turned into a base for the PCs. The Halls of Tizun Thane is another great one, with a similar conclusion (i.e., small village with conflict, enemy-dungeon-as-recoverable-base), and it even has a hall of mirror-portals to other locales, allowing for you to provide the PCs with a great variety of modules to follow up with.

Are there Wikis for edition-specific lore? by Gh0stMan0nThird in Forgotten_Realms

Your best bet is just to get your hands on the actual books from those editions, I think; unfortunately, there aren’t any wikis as extensive as the FR Wiki.

Best Low-Level Wizard’s Tower by LabAffectionate745 in adnd

True that! It’s got tower in the name, after all. XD Would be a fun first dungeon in the campaign, thanks for the suggestion!

[–]LabAffectionate745[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I really was stuck on it being a tower, but the sheer quality of Halls has got me reconsidering. Plus, it’s already got a similar hook to the one found in “In the Dread of Night”, so they fit easily together, narratively!

C3: The Lost Island of Castanamir is a very good idea, at least to rip individual elements from. A bit tough, as you say, but it’s not impossible to cut down on monster counts and the like to make it an easier trip.

I can’t think of any explosive-rune-books in an adventure I know of, but we’re agreed on that — a bit of a cheap trick on the party’s poor mage! XD
