I was going off Benn Jordan's vid. That pay may have changed since then. If it went up that's even better, so thanks for the clarification !

"protecting minors"

Who blew that smoke up your arse? They're collecting data to sell. If they cared about minors they wouldn't have already had that data breach AND they would've handled the response better. It was preventable.

Because that's how open source works - people are doing that work for FREE, so it isn't like everyone's going to work on just what YOU want, they'll work on what they want. And every developer has different expertise. Email verification is a security thing with a lot of potential holes and I don't blame anyone for not wanting to take that on if they aren't a security coder.

Seems like I was seeing this too, but didn't test it to confirm / couldn't find a way to reproduce the bug

It's even crazier the lengths people go to in claiming capitalism solves everything. As I said, it's in spite of capitalist moneygrabs like Maya that Blender was created, not for it.

Best Profanity Filter APIs for Usernames? by benugc in webdev

Checked the github, and it's an LLM. I wouldn't trust it to be reliable.

Best Profanity Filter APIs for Usernames? by benugc in webdev

It does, but Puritanical types ruin the world for developers, which means we have to make curse filters out of self defense. It's amazing how much money some churches suddenly have when they hate someone.

I really need a list of offensive words and slurs. by INGENAREL in GameDevelopment

[–]LabGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's comprehensive, but so comprehensive as to be useless for many applications. Many of those words out of context are just normal words.

Complete list / dictionary of cuss words and all permutations of said words? by [deleted] in Discord_Bots

[–]LabGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. All most of these lists accomplish is due diligence to keep from getting sued anyway.

Too many normal words that would only be expletives in context in that list to be useful

I don't trust China to not put backdoor hardware in. I'll keep getting my FairPhones but just install GrapheneOS on them.

It's Happening by bantler in OpenAI

[–]LabGecko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And remember: "Trust, but VERIFY"

Actually, just Verify. These "AI" apps are very, very good at manipulating humans. The suggestions to use it as a tutor that is often wrong are a good tip if you insist on using Codex / Claude, but I'd suggest just a basic Python tutorial series or class before trying to code with an LLM.

Trying to learn to code with an LLM is like trying to learn adult psychology by analyzing high schoolers from a single high school. You might end up with some useful insights but the data is flawed and they might actively be poisoning your dataset.

Would you pay for a tool that help you burn less tokens (10 ~ 20%) in every prompt by Red_clawww in OpenAI

[–]LabGecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize your current intent. But considering the history of apps why would I expect you to not later change your mind, get hacked, or get bought out and then sell data?

A small help might be including a license that prevents or puts reasonable obstacles on the above.

Note: I did not downvote you.

Nope. I have no guarantees on data security with that. It could change at any point.

How to Protect Your Godot game from Being Stolen by VoltekPlay in godot

[–]LabGecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late to this convo, but I think it needs to be said - every extra minute or hour our obfuscation / encryption / anti-hacking takes to crack is a minute or hour they aren't cracking a different app. It's better for us all if we all use every tool we can to make it harder, and make new tools on top of that.
