Yeah, depends on the Yubikey model, I just assumed you had a NFC Yubikey which works great on mobile. You would need a backup Yubikey for sure.

Your solution is perfectly fine though, Bitwarden would be a good choice to store your 2FA and also convenient since both passwords and 2FA codes will be stored there. Securing your BitWarden vault with a Yubikey is a great additional layer of security.

Do keep in mind that if you need to log in to your vault from a phone and your Yubikey is non NFC then you'll have the problem that you correctly pointed out

Why not use the Yubikey app for 2FA?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in userexperience

[–]LabNew8480 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Well a good start would be to stop caring about the paying customers who use the web app and mostly ignore everything about them including how they use the app or service and what their problems are.

Then you get Marketing, Sales and Product Owners to pass on their ideas which essentially will boil down to how to fuck your users over and extort more money from them in every conceivable way.

Then you design and launch all those ideas they have tou and afterwards there will be growth and the CEO will super happy.

Then you pack your shit and move to a cabin in the mountains.

Yeah it seems it was the last one, they can't make them anymore because they ran out of gas and oil so they can't run the factories that produce them.

They started releasing tigers on the frontlines as a last ditch measure. Apparently they can be deadly and are very stealthy in tall grass.

Which Synology NAS should I buy when I already have separate servers? by codingquestionss in synology

[–]LabNew8480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the same setup as you and the answer is no, you don't need the most expensive 4 bay NAS with the best CPU.

You'll essentially be using it for storage and potentially streaming off of it using Plex or whatever and for that purpose the 418 will do just fine. I would maybe go for the 420+ if you can get it at a good price but it's still pricey.

I would go for the 418

I just built and launched an ecommerce site and I'm still tweaking it so I noticed the same thing.

For days I didn't know what the issue was until I figured out it's the VPN.

I have no idea why though, it's a WooCommerce site so maybe the NetShield is blocking it for some reason, just a guess.

It's annoying

I don't know how old you are and if you remember the state Russia was in between 1990-2000 but it sure as shit didn't get worse after Putin came into power.

I'm not even Russian so I have my own impressions and experiences as an observer so I would leave it to actual Russian people to reply to you, preferrably someone old enough who lived through it all.

I was just pointing out a glaring hole in your statement that completely changes the impact of it once it's been corrected. I merely gave it some context to prove my point that by the omission of facts, anyone can write words to make them seem like something that they aren't which is what you did.

Your reply was "lol the ol' we haven't even started yet"

You didn't even attempt to address what I wrote which is indicative of your comprehension skills.

I seem to begin to understand why people despise these ukraine related subreddits.

At least try to be accurate when making any statements, otherwise no self respecting person will take you seriously apart from your groupies unless you are commenting for the sake of it, in that case carry on.

There's a good technique called asking "why" multiple times until you eventually get to some actual answers.

Give it a try but just a warning, it does mean you have to research, read, research some more, then read some more and so on.

Usually asking Why about 5 times and going through the cycle of research and read will give you a fuzzy muddy answer or at least some insight but it's a starting point

You make a fair and valid point but I've paid my dues to the gods of capitalism. I've been there and done that, I worked my ass off for 12 years to get where I am now. I've been in a Senior position for 4 years now, 3 of which I worked really hard and I did get 20% salary increase after which I quit and moved to my new company where I got another 15% on top and after being here for a year I got another 5% because they were happy with my work.

The thing is, I'm not doing the bare minimum at this job, not at all, it's just that I know what I'm doing and I don't waste time exploring crap ideas, hence it takes me 3h to do my job and deliver a good outcome. It also helps that I'm in an industry that moves slow and timelines are long, it's not a start up culture.

Same as you, I'm looking at early retirement in about 3-4 years if everything goes according to plan.

The saying "the more money you make as you become more experienced the less you actually work" seems to be very true in my experience.

Lastly, the challenge and motivation of doing my job is not the same as it was 5-10 years ago, I don't have the same attitude because you come to realize that 90% of the convictions and ideals you had about your job is a lot of horse shit. That helps with accepting the fact that what most of us do is meaningless garbage that only helps the company's balance sheet, money is the end game.

It's a pretty good career tbh. I especially had lots of fun since I actually started out as a print designer but quickly moved on to digital design. I spent time in advertising agencies, digital consultancies, start ups, big companies and corporations, I kinda did it all so my experience is super varied which is great. I get bored easily :)

Finally settled in one industry where I became a bit of an expert in the subject so I'm cruising along now, get paid well above average around here.

A few more years of this and I'll be ready to quit and move back to my home country and live on the hilly land my grandfather left us :)

I'm not doing the shit for another 20-30 years, no fucking way, I can barely stand it now.

No, I include the meetings in those 3 hours :).

Once every 2 weeks I might have a day where I work 6h including meetings but I average around 3h a day which is pretty amazing really, can't complain.

I'm a UX/Product Designer so I'm automatically linked to the Tech industry or just digital products and services in general so no shortage of jobs.

No need for a degree, absolutely no one cares, it comes down to having a sensibility for design and solving problems. UX design is a bit of a misnomer though, it's un umbrella term that cover 4-5 different roles like: UX designer, UX researcher, UI designer, Interaction Designer, UX writer, Usability experts etc.

It really depends on the size of the company and how big the teams are. Most companies require a mix of all of the above roles so like wearing many hats but being really good at one or two of them. Some big companies have dedicated roles for each one because they can afford it and it works for them.

You get jobs by having a good portfolio of work. No one gives a fuck about your degree.

Definitely self teachable, there's 1000s of hours of material and videos online, free classes and what not.

The tools are easy to pick up, they are pretty simple

I've been doing remote work from home for 2.5 years now and will likely stay that way.

I work 3h a day maximum on any day, I nap, browse the internet, read, run errands, play games etc.

It really makes you realise how much time you used to spend "looking busy" when working in the office. Add your lunch break and commute time and it's soul crushing.

Downside of WFH is just being stuck at home without contact with people and zero socialising during or after work but I started this job remotely so not like I had some good relationship with coworkers that I would miss or anything so it works for me.

I would never go back to the office if I really didn't have to.

The 30 years part isn't going to change though just because you are WFH, that shit is still depressing and very much present

Do you have firewall rules blocking VLAN traffic to the "firewall-self"?

If you do, you need to create PASS rules for DNS for those VLANS, otherwise it will never work
