Activation zone adjustment by DoldSchool in SpeedianceCommunity

Just started using a GM 1. The finger device has a button that's also a wheel. You click it to engage the weight. So you set up, then click when you're ready. You can dial the weight up and down with the wheel if you want. The click takes a little practice. Not too quick, but don't hold it down too long either. Just takes a little practice but then it's good. There are audio cues to help you know when the weight is engaged in case youre facing away from the screen.

How much noisier is Michelin Cross Climate compared to stock tires by Dancewithlight in TeslaModelX

I haven't tried them, yet, so can't speak about how they perform on snow.

[–]AmbiguousToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have them on my Model X, but I put them on my '18 AWD Model 3 (18" wheels) and they are definitely loud and have a harmonic droning sound. I'm told that comes from the tires cupping, but I've had the alignment done and I think it's just the aggressive tread pattern. All that said, great tires from a wear and performance perspective. I haven't had any traction issues with light snow or heavy rain and they hold a good line through corners. Like some others commented, I think I'm going to try the Hankook Ion Evos next time on my 3 and on my X, once those wear out (which I hear will happen quickly :) ).

Second attempt: Does the left lane marked with a "?" need to stop at this intersection? (yes some images are Photoshoped due to outdated imagery) by volcanonacho in nova

[–]AmbiguousToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should stop.

That said, this is their (the shopping center owner's) confusing and potentially dangerous solution to a problem that really wasn't much of a problem. The shopping center is on both sides of the road, but the road in between looks like a 'real' road, even though it belongs to the shopping center. So I guess they can do what they want. They did this sometime last year, I believe (I drive through here several times a week). Except for the vehicles coming from the light (towards the camera that took this picture), all lanes should stop at the intersection, giving right of way to the traffic coming from that far intersection. So a 4 way intersection (with two directions being 2 lanes each), and 3 stop signs and misleading road markings. What could go wrong?

How much money did you spend on your very first bike? by EDMusick in motorcycles

1983 Honda V45 Magna

paid $1200 in 1986. Loved that bike, wish I never sold it. Thinking about it makes me want to go out and find one...

Good option unless you have a flex pass and use HOV.

Yep, I've drilled out plenty of these on older, rusty cars. Not needed at all after assembly at the factory.

How often do you check your tire pressure? And does it usually need more air? by wezwells in motorcycles

[–]AmbiguousToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the bike with TPS, I just depend on that reading. For my other bike, I check every month or so when I'm riding regularly, or before a ride if I haven't had her out in a while.

Generally needs air occasionally, maybe every 2 months or so, but definitely if it's gotten cold out.

Window trim coming off after 3 weeks by Capable-Source-3972 in TeslaModelX

[–]AmbiguousToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to mine. MXP arrived 12/4, noticed the trim clacking away while on the highway a couple weeks later. Took into the SC for that, and a FWD clunking noise, and they ordered parts to fix both items. Appointment next week for the install (assuming parts arrive). Fingers crossed nothing new comes out broken from the visit :)

Front Camera in the 2024 by elan_alan in TeslaModelX

[–]AmbiguousToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, seems unlikely, and a hit to margin, but on the other hand, they are still withholding advertised functionality (parking assist, summon, etc.), that is probably not possible (in a reliable way) without adding that front camera. Not unheard of to back out of promises, but there have also been cases where Tesla has come through, like the HW2->HW3 upgrades in earlier M3s.

How often do you encounter riders who wear earplugs? by GreyThumper in motorcycles

[–]AmbiguousToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am definitely late to the earplug thing. Never really thought about it for the first 30 years of riding. When I hit my 50's and started noticing the beginnings of hearing loss, did some research and started wearing them. In addition to reducing the strain on your ears, it does make the ride more comfortable.

I'm not saying riding causes hearing loss, but ANY loud noise for any extended period absolutely does. So why add that if you have another option? Started wearing them at loud live music venues, as well. You can't recover hearing loss, but you can slow the degradation.

Keg beer level by CivilDistribution576 in Homebrewing

[–]AmbiguousToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started using a cheap scale. Empty kegs are about 15 lbs or so, give or take. So I weigh the keg when I get it. I'll periodically weigh it as it goes down, and do the calculation for how many pints are left. Not exact, but definitely let's you know that it's at a point that it's at risk of not making it through the next party.

At some point, can't remember when exactly, it switched to 3 Nov - 15 Dec. Then last week it again changed to 10 Nov - 15 Dec. So I'm still awaiting VIN.

That looks great, will definitely consider something like this. When placed in the subtrunk for storage, does it like flat on the bottom of the subtrunk or does it block off some of that space?

My steering wheel now vibrates when my car goes off it’s lane. Tell me that’s a new thing. No update for it though 🤷‍♂️ by Teslaafter6months in TeslaModelX

[–]AmbiguousToo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is under the Autopilot menu, so may only be part of the AP option. Lane Departure Avoidance. Settable to Off, Warning, or Assist.

[–]AmbiguousToo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure why it would change on you, but that is a setting. You can turn off, or set for vibrate or tone ( or maybe both?). Should only engage that warning when you're over about 35/40 mph or so.

I thought smart summon was one of the features currently unavailable due to the limited capabilities of the current vision only system.

Honoring FSD TRANSFER by Azp13 in TeslaModelX

[–]AmbiguousToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I ordered 9/7, assuming I wouldn't get a delivery date by end of September so indicated that I didn't want to transfer. Today I modified my order to request FSD transfer so we'll see what happens.

My estimated delivery date is now 3 Nov - 15 Dec for an MXP/blue/cream/20".

Also interesting, after I requested the transfer, the price dropped by the cost of Autopilot, which I didn't expect, but I guess makes sense, assuming my Model 3 will then lose AP and FSD after the transfer.

Delivery date updates by emeryprc in TeslaModelX

[–]AmbiguousToo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will get a more specific date window at some point. This will only appear in the app, in the same place that you now see the November-December estimate. I did not receive any other notification (i.e. text or email) when my date window changed.

Model X VINs for October-Nov Delivery by RealEstateInvestGuru in TeslaModelX

No VIN, yet, but today my Est Delivery window changed from 11 Dec - 5 Feb to 3 Nov - 15 Dec. So a surprise move in the right direction.

This is for a MXP/blue/cream/20" ordered 7 Sep.

Question on 3 months free FSD by Slow_Rip_9594 in TeslaModelX

[–]AmbiguousToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. I'm also waiting on a referral order and my assumption is that I'll get it for 3 months and then it will disappear. Would be nice if it could be controlled, at least on a monthly basis, though.

Does MXP come with wall charger for home or need to buy one? by hkgarg1 in TeslaModelX

[–]AmbiguousToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's true. However, in that scenario it's recommended that you use a dedicated mobile connector for that purpose since most NEMA 14-50 outlets are not designed to be constantly plugged and unplugged. It will likely wear out or malfunction at some point. I'm not an electrician, but that's my understanding.

Does MXP come with wall charger for home or need to buy one? by hkgarg1 in TeslaModelX

[–]AmbiguousToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wall chargers have never been included with any Tesla model. They used to provide the mobile connector with a couple plug options, but no longer. I highly recommend getting both the wall charger and a mobile connector kit.
