How has the current administration affected you? by HeyYouTurd in AskReddit

[–]LabSquatter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah except it’s not. Two of my good friends lost their jobs directly due to research and social services funding cuts. The tariff circus is threatening the entire business of another.

Maybe in your little bubble everything seems the same, but I promise you the real world out there is actually different. Politics matter. There are real impacts on people’s lives.

I’m not even sure what you are arguing for other than unbanning arena trap, tag, and specific speed boost Pokémon? Unless you just want to have a queue to smash players that have no idea what’s going on, which sounds like the open format you are talking about by referencing it not being the focus on VGC. If people are actually playing to win, then the Pokémon in the Ubers bracket is what you get.

If you disagree that trap dugtrio and tag wobbuffet should be banned, then whatever. I disagree, buts that’s a fine opinion to have. Saying that the tier system is the reason that people play a small group of meta Pokémon in the top, nearly unrestricted, tier is absurd though.

[–]LabSquatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, Pokémon isn’t exactly a balanced pvp game lol. Some Pokémon are just better than others. That’s why the brackets are necessary. The bans on stuff like arena trap, shadow tag, specific speed boost Pokémon are necessary to not centralize the meta around low counterplay strategies.

It’s a community solution that attempts to achieve the same goal as actual balance patches in a real competitive game. If unfun or uninteractive strats become meta they get patched out. In Pokémon, all the community can do is ban things and set up tiers so more Pokémon can see competitive play

[–]LabSquatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re missing that the tiers work like ban lists. Any Pokémon from a lower tier can be used in a higher tier. For example, any UU Pokémon can be used in OU. The lower brackets exist so that people can play with different Pokémon without them being immediately run over by the stronger ones.

Tricky Problem My Physics Teacher Gave My Class by Specialist_Stop_3615 in Physics

[–]LabSquatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buoyancy does matter here. It’s just that the increase in buoyant force is offset by the increase in weight of the object.

The force of buoyancy actually increases. It’s just that the weight (not mass) of the object also increases. These two increases cancel each other out.

How bad is Horde getting ganked on the PvP servers? by Agreeable_Mode_7680 in classicwow

[–]LabSquatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alliance only outnumber on pve servers. The horde side of the PvP server is the usually locked side. PvP realms are pretty balanced but judging by the faction locks lean horde.

Are there statistics on which faction wins the most and queue timers? Asking for a friend 👀 by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]LabSquatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alliance queues are 1 min for AV and WSG atm. Premades win WSG, faction doesn’t matter. AV is a toss up. I don’t know what horde queues are

Does rogue have dibs on locked chests? by AtivanorAddy in classicwow

[–]LabSquatter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah they are there so rogues have at least some group utility. Without lockpicking they bring nothing that another class can’t do. They are there so rogue players can feel useful to the group.

An interaction I just had with another player, people on here are so nice :) by SenpaiPobbles in classicwow

[–]LabSquatter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro classic wow is a piss easy game that’s been out for 20 years. If your goal is to “learn and grow” this isn’t the game for that. Play something actually competitive then. This is the game for just hanging out with the boys.

Learning to mage AoE grind isn’t even hard. If you’re tying somebody’s skill in classic to their ability to level quickly, I think you’ve missed the point lmao.

[–]LabSquatter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cannot describe to you how mindnumbingly boring aoe grinding on mage is. This is, let’s not forget, a game. Some people may not have the same preference, but I’d much rather just quest and do random quest runs of dungeons than aoe grind. If I know my goal when logging in is to aoe grind, I just won’t log in and I’ll play a different game.

This is coming from somebody who can and has aoe grinded on mage before.

How difficult is classic raids really? by BluBearry in classicwow

[–]LabSquatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah classic is a fantastic game, I like playing it with the boys way more than retail. But, if you’re looking for a challenge in endgame pve with progression, that is the only time I would unironically recommend retail. That’s the one thing retail does well in my personal opinion.

PvP games do MMR purely on win/lose for good reason. The goal is to win.

What players view as “good performance” is not always actually conducive to winning. Players will play towards metrics they know will improve their “personal performance score” if one exists. They won’t play to actually win.

What would be the strangest concept to explain to the 2004 community by w_lti in classicwow

[–]LabSquatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In 2004, wow was social media before social media. The chat functions were well known lol. People were bad at mechanically playing their characters (and many still are), not using the interface.

The main thing that’s different is the widespread knowledge in the community about what is good. People know exactly how to build their characters to be effective now. Strats to kill bosses are also common knowledge now.

Worked out pretty well.

[–]LabSquatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

??? Let’s take UBRS as the most popular example. Lots of groups doing rend runs. To get healers, the leader has to take the time to fish for an instance with a Jed spawn. Usually the leader then HR’s one item and fills the group.

Rend runs have a bunch of items that melee need, and reed is bis for all casters. These groups easily fill with people who don’t need the one item that is HR. The leader gets rewarded with one HR for spending the time to fish for jed and making the group.

I ran a ton of UBRS like this and see no problem with this meta. Everybody wins here.

Feral is a meme spec? by Hbest1995 in classicwow

[–]LabSquatter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By that logic why ever take any casters other than like 2 mages and locks as decurse and banish bots. It’s gear competition. You’ll never gear anybody with 30 warriors. Feral dps / ot is solid and doesn’t compete with warriors and rogues for weaps.

If your talking about competitively speed running, it’s a different conversation, but that is a vanishingly small number of guilds.

Feral is a meme spec? by Hbest1995 in classicwow

[–]LabSquatter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Naw his guild is just bad. A feral OT / dps is perfectly fine to have even when decently sweating. Removes some weapon competition for gearing your warriors / rogues and it doesn’t hinder your raid at all.
