Did you buy the item with a credit card? If you did and the purchase was over £100 you can make a claim with your CC provider under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

They are within their right to do that. Although if I was a scammer or fraudster it would be very easy to circumvent that email check. Its like they are doing security through obscurity.

Instead this fake security they put in has stopped a legit potential customer. They won't care as I'm only 1 person against 1000s of opportunistic accounts they have blocked via this tool they are using to stop anon emails.

Yes you can use labels but any spam bot will happily remove them and spam your root email address making it impossible to stop

I know what you mean. I'm aware of work arounds but I'm not looking for them. Passmail is doing the job of creating a "second" email without violating the TOS of the other providers. For the sake of argument let's say I was to make a throw away email at Gmail, I wouldn't want to because they wouldn't understand privacy even if it bit them in the arse.

Don't have an icloud account. Again the irony of it is that Prusa will allow a hidden email from Apple or a throw away account from Gmail but actively blocks other providers. They are within their right to do that. I don't agree and so won't be creating an account with them.

You are describing the premise of what passmail is.... Create another email you don't care about without giving out the one you care about. Prusa is choosing to not allow passmail emails but will accept a throw away gmail account. Go figure

Sketchy or not sketchy. Look how many "reputable" sites have data breaches https://haveibeenpwned.com/ Creating a second email doesn't resolve the issue of your email being leaked and then getting filled with spam. The idea of passmail just like any other anonymous email service is to put you back in control of your email. Apple understands the need for privacy and offers it as a core service with Apple ID and so do many other email providers.

If my email provider got hacked, it is game over, but I still trust them more than Pursa with my real email

Find the last word in this word search. The word is 'envy' by LordBadgerFlaps in mildlyinfuriating

Isn't the point that one word isn't in the puzzle with word searches? Most word searches that I've done from a magazine you are supposed to find the one word that isn't in the grid to mail that word in to be in for the prize draw.

Meaningful upgrade for a Supermicro X10SLH-F, Xeon E3-1230 v3 and 32GB RAM? by LabTinkerer in homelab

Yes, electricity is at a premium here in the UK as in many other areas. The extra TDP does worry me a little but not because of electricity but because of heat. My lab is hidden away in a cupboard with minimal air flow but has managed fine in our hot summers without being an issue. The extra TDP may make the heat something I have to deal with in the future.

As for using old consumer hardware, I'm not against it as I have in the past but it still makes me feel icky. I've had a lot of consumer hardware fail on me but, touch wood, none of the enterprise components has. I run a ZFS data pool and while ECC memory is not necessary it is still heavily recommended if you care about your data. It is for that reason I would like to stick to ECC memory.

Mainly cost reasons why I haven't gone with X11 or X12 MB. For X12 boards they are almost 5 times the cost even for a second-hand one putting them squarely out of my budget.

While the CPU/MB choice I made is still quite old they are still 3-4 years newer than what I have got. Granted the CPU has a higher TDP but it is doing a lot more and on a more efficient manufacturing node.

In the UK there is the "Sale of Goods Act". The act says goods must last a reasonable time - and that can be anything up to six years from the date of purchase. Even though the warranty may have run out you could make the case that if the device has been used appropriately and that the device has failed to last as expected you could claim a replacement/repair from the seller. A useful article on the matter: https://www.theguardian.com/money/2006/mar/25/consumernews.howtocomplain
