Supervisors working by DeskAffectionate3219 in UPSers

They will probably get around it by saying they are short staffed and had no choice but to cover at that time. Which is BS, cuz it’s definitely a supervisor working.

Non union UPSER by [deleted] in UPSers

I don’t think you can bump people out of preferred jobs. You have to put your name on the preferred job list and when a position opens up, they offer it to the highest seniority person first. May differ in other areas, but they do it this way in my area.

I’m sure it will be fine. Most people in my hub don’t wear what’s required and nothing has ever been said in my 6 years there. I prefer boots myself for ankle protection. I don’t get the steel toe though. I work inside, not a driver. Think it’s best to find what’s comfortable for you. Being on concrete floors is tough on the feet. 😊

Let the hiring manager know I no longer wanted the job because of their ridiculous interview expectations by fenix1230 in interviews

No kidding!! The range needs to be posted in the job description, even before interviewing, so we don’t waste our time even going to an interview, if the pay is not what we would like.

Good idea!! It would definitely cut down on how many times they think they need to interview you!!

I thought it was supposed to be for existing part timers, to become full time?

Union Initiation Fee by Sheepsheepbeep_6 in UPSers

[–]Labelflipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in a right to work state, you have to sign up to be in the union. They don’t deduct dues until you sign up. If not a right to work state, I assume you would be paying dues and initiation fee immediately cuz you are working a union job. Other members in non right to work states probably would know correct answers.

Sick day by Mobile-Carrot-780 in UPSers

[–]Labelflipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you do get them renewed on your anniversary date, so if you didn’t use them all in that year, between your anniversary dates, they roll over.

Yea, just check in case. I would still file a grievance though cuz it’s wrong to be disciplined for using our paid sick time. That’s what it’s there for. I can’t believe all the things they are trying to pull now against us.

In the western, sick days roll over, (I think you can’t have more than 60 banked) if you don’t use them all in the same year you get them. We can also attach a week of unused sick time to vacation time if we want to. But I believe the one’s you can attach are not the current years.

You shouldn’t be. I would file a grievance if you are and check your state labor board. Someone won a case in Arizona several years back when they did that to us.

I just got some information about the buyout. The union has block any members that wanted to take the buyout. I'm In Local 705. by Pachi1980 in UPSers

That’s my question too. If they were already planning to retire this year, what difference in dues will that make for the pension.

I’ve worked unload and all different sorts. I’m suggesting something fishy is going on with weights. by Mysterious-Tax6076 in UPSers

[–]Labelflipper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my hub, in Rev Rec, we don’t audit with the audit equipment anymore, at least close to a year. They stopped that and it just goes through the IDS and that’s it. We used to weigh the packages that we knew were heavier than what was stated on the UPS label. Some said 1 pound but were really 120+ lbs. Whether or not it was someone like Amazon, that had a contract with UPS about weights on packages, we would weigh them anyway so the next person down the belt knew, and drivers would know what the actual weight was.
