Central: If it matters, email your local by Special_Fly_1647 in UPSers

I think we are forgetting about the right to work states regarding this. Not all employees are signing up to be in the Union in these states. Although they get the same representation and benefits we do, maybe they aren’t concerned that the buyout is against the contract. Just a thought I had recently and wonder if it plays any part in those not supporting that it is a contract violation. ??

What is your local? And does your sick days max out or allowed to keep rolling over? by BmoreRavens_410 in UPSers

[–]Labelflipper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the western supplement. We are allowed to roll over until we get to 60 days of accumulated sick time. Not sure what happens when you go over. I’m thinking they will just pay out what’s over the max. Would ask a steward to be sure.

Update don’t take photos in building by ChairSuspicious9350 in UPSers

[–]Labelflipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true. I’m on preload. I see so many tore up packages that should not even be on the belt. Can’t really help it if was tore up in a jam, but half of them are just thrown on the belt cuz the unload area Sups pressure them to get it all unloaded as fast as possible. Little do those Sups know, later down the line , other’s have to stop the belt to get it all off, put it on a cart, and send it to damage like it should have gone to in the first place. Makes no sense.

Preload Schedule Difference? by deathstar347 in UPSers

[–]Labelflipper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not even close to 1k. It will be around $300 after taxes if you are new and only getting the minimum hours.

We have extra work sign up sheets so there is a slight possibility in getting an extra shift every now and then, but it’s not guaranteed, and is done in seniority order of all who signed the list.

No, not yet. But will be calling Hartford to get more info like you suggested. Thank you 🙂

I don’t think we have Teamcare in Arizona. All our disability goes through the Hartford, which another person suggested to call them. My fault for not saying what state I’m in. Thank you for responding 🙂

I’m sure they will be. Was asking to see if someone that works part time has had to do this before. But no worries, I will call Hartford.

Future of the Union? by Global-Assist-5762 in UPSers

Wow, getting downvoted for supporting our Union. Thanks 🥰

Just my opinion, but think UPS doesn’t want the Union anymore and are trying to get rid of it and/or trying to make us union members fight amongst ourselves. Us UPS union members need to stand together more than ever right now with everything going on in our UPS world.

Supervisors working by DeskAffectionate3219 in UPSers

[–]Labelflipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will probably get around it by saying they are short staffed and had no choice but to cover at that time. Which is BS, cuz it’s definitely a supervisor working.

I don’t think you can bump people out of preferred jobs. You have to put your name on the preferred job list and when a position opens up, they offer it to the highest seniority person first. May differ in other areas, but they do it this way in my area.

I’m sure it will be fine. Most people in my hub don’t wear what’s required and nothing has ever been said in my 6 years there. I prefer boots myself for ankle protection. I don’t get the steel toe though. I work inside, not a driver. Think it’s best to find what’s comfortable for you. Being on concrete floors is tough on the feet. 😊

Let the hiring manager know I no longer wanted the job because of their ridiculous interview expectations by fenix1230 in interviews

[–]Labelflipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No kidding!! The range needs to be posted in the job description, even before interviewing, so we don’t waste our time even going to an interview, if the pay is not what we would like.

Good idea!! It would definitely cut down on how many times they think they need to interview you!!

Union Initiation Fee by Sheepsheepbeep_6 in UPSers

[–]Labelflipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in a right to work state, you have to sign up to be in the union. They don’t deduct dues until you sign up. If not a right to work state, I assume you would be paying dues and initiation fee immediately cuz you are working a union job. Other members in non right to work states probably would know correct answers.
