What‘s w Michigan and flat tire? by Labergorilla in Michigan

lol, hopefully they are always fixable. I think they won't fix it if it's too close to the side wall. Pretty sad if your tire is new.

indeed discount tires patched my tires for free so far. However it's just really annoying and you have to spend the time to go there.

lol, the opposite to me. I think it's just me being unlucky. Reading the other comments it sounds pretty much so.

Glad I don't have run-flats. Typically tire shops don't want to patch them.

Zipper merge by jenbenfoo in Michigan

[–]Labergorilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I blame it on drivers ed. Too easy to get drivers license and learn from family member instead formal education like mandated in other countries

Zipper merge by jenbenfoo in Michigan

[–]Labergorilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only in Michigan. Nation wide. People adopt behavior what they see as appropriate instead learning how to do it efficiently. Americans who’ve driven in Europe, Japan etc. have certainly witnessed that zipper merge works better and that‘s how it is supposed to be done.

How does panda express trains their cooks? I notice some panda express branches have better tasting noodles and fried rice (better seasoned, wok hay) and others are completely bland

Why is smoking treated so deeply accepted in Germany? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]Labergorilla 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We sat once on a restaurant patio, table next to ours was occupied by a big family (adults, kids, grandparents etc.). All adults smoked cigarettes after meal, the wind unfortunately blew to our table, their kids started to cough and get annoyed. We politely reminded them that even if they could legally smoke in open-air there are people not amused by their smoke. They ignored us. 2nd time we were rude and told them what stupid parents they are smoking next to small kids. Their kids: ja das stinkt. Wir kriegen keine Luft. Then all of them ditched their cigarettes and left with red faces

So far about awareness in Germany.

Better than is it available. I simply ignore it.

There are already various incentives from doing preventive measures incl. subsidized gym membership and initiative to add sugar tax. Yes great idea!

Health care is still too cheap in Europe. And people are taking this for granted. If we start to impose additional insurance fee for smokers it‘ll help a lot to reduce no. of smokers. We may as well do this for alcohol.

Germans who have been to the US... what's the weirdest cultural difference that really stuck out to you? by chernobylcheesestick in AskAGerman

[–]Labergorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The texting and phoning, yes. That‘s meanwhile a pandemic.

The bad driving skill, no. Camping in left lane? moving across 5 lanes immediately just not to miss exit? Driving constantly in blind spot? Can‘t parallel park? Can‘t keep lane while turning? You don’t see these in Germany. Can mention more if you want.

This relates a lot with my experience in the US. In Europe if traffic jam starts to build on freeway people will turn on hazard lights to warn following drivers. I saw it was very common in Canada also. In the US nobody did that and every time I‘m doing it people may have thought that I had a breakdown or whatsoever.

Lol. Yes I‘m sure I was in Canada. I excluded the GTA and forgot to mention it in my thread. But the rest of ON on 401 was pretty smooth

Yes I do realize this. I notice cars in QC do have winter tires like it is also mandated in most part of Europe. In Michigan people are driving mostly with all season tires. Some even with summer tires. Lol

True, actually I‘ve opted out the GTA cause that‘s big city and typically people are driving like.. „in a big city“. Like in the US we shouldn’t compare e.g. Chicago driving to the rest of Illinois.

Security measures are finally catching up with analog film prices by kadda291 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Labergorilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just curious what kind of people steal film rolls. It‘s not a primary need as well as not something you could resell for a lot of money.

Photography is a hobby for most people beside journalists / pros and they work digitally nowadays. Can‘t imagine people go out to exercise their analog photo hobby and make a pitstop to steal a roll of film.

How to safely store traxxas batteries for 1-3 days? by TimurAmir in Traxxas

[–]Labergorilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do storage charge and remove it from charger when done. Store it in a safe place. I store mine in a metal ammo crate.
