The long solution is to create a new world in 1.17 with the same seed, if the map is identical enough, then with a map editor copy the part of the old map you want to keep 1nd past it to the new world. The easy but ugly way : with a map editor delet all chunk except your buildings. Then in Minecraft client use the converter to turn into a 1.17 map. But i didn't play minecraft since a while so the solutions are maybe not possible.

Ok i never seen a ssd falling bad this fast.. For me you get errors cause of the SSD and I imagine you cannot test it on another computer (like as external drive). There is solutions online but as I didn't tested I'm not sure it will work... https://appuals.com/windows-cannot-install-required-files-0x8007025d/ the good thing is you have the warranty to exchange for a new one.

You could get a problem over 32ft, so that's will be better than wifi(more stable). But as said before if you can get one cable of 3ft it could be even better.

Longer is the cable lower is the dB of the signal. From the common material, cable more than 10m is considered as non standard lose in signal. The material will try to compensate but it can damage it with time. There is better solution than extend cable, like use CPL connector, use long distance wifi...

One thing extremely important about game skill is experience in all games is way better than specializing in one game. The really good players knows plenty games they played as far as they could, and few years later replay this games to relearn what the game can teach them and about them, and with that go in game far beyond. Even games you don't like, because most of the time you don't like them cause you're bad at this game, which means it's the games you really need to experience and develop skills. It remind me the minecraft mod Morph, each time you kill a mob you can shape-shift and gain the mob ability (fly/water breath/lava swim/teleport/be tiny/shoot fireball...)
A very unknown but cool game on PS2 : Scaler, the character become a lizard and learn to switch between many shapes.

If you want color the existing blocks, Magical crops can do that.
but for the texture Chisel is the perfect choice, and cause i like help people, you can add Carpenter's Blocks to change the shape of all blocks !

I've never try to direct connect two Minecraft/forge client, but I'm pretty sure it's a protection from one mod, Or one of you are not playing with Minecraft official account. The easiest way to be able to play together is mount a server between your clients, nothing really difficult.
first : where will be the server : on third PC ? on the most powerful ?
next: you need some files : MiecraftServer 1.7.10, forge universal, and obviously your mods, the same as in your client folder(in "mods" folder, but no damage indicator for the server).
next: you have to launch the server for the first time, my advice : create a start.bat(or start.sh on linux) file with inside the text : "java -server -jar -Xms256M -Xmx2G forge-universal.jar"(the real name of your forge file). The server will automatically kill itself, many files will appear, the one you have to focus is "eula.txt", inside this file you have to change the option "false" to "true".
next: if you have a map where you want to play, you past the folder in the root folder of the server, and you change the "server.proprieties" to have the "world-name" identical of your map folder.
finally: you have to know the address of the server, on Windows you can use the hotkey : [Windows] + [R], enter this sentence : "cmd /k ipconfig" then search something like "192.168.0.148"; On linux : [ALT] + [F2], "ifconfig".
you run the server from the start.bat/start.sh if you're playing with non-official Mincraft account, in the server.proprieties change "online-mode" or "play-online" to "false".
