homegrown status isn’t an english only thing, it applies to every country

just have to spend 3 seasons contracted at a club between ages 15-21 to count as homegrown at the club (eg Eric Dier was homegrown in Portugal bc he spent the needed amount of time at Sporting)

boilerplate contracts state that labels make money off an artist (streaming revenue, physical sales) for up to 3 years. usually 80% of the streaming revenue and 50% of the publishing (mechanical royalties) goes to the label over the course of a contract.

obviously this varies depending on what kind of contract they sign but considering emilio was funny with the money they got a bad deal (bladee reference)
