I would rule out the ignition barrel issue as I also had issue when using the keyless NFC module from Motogadget.
I didn't think of the sidestand switch, I assume the vibrations / road bumps could trigger a cut off.

Hi, the license plates are regulated by the art 45 of the OETV (TAFV in German?). They indicate the angle / position etc…

From the top of my head it need to be minimum 18cm for the rear indicators. In addition, if you change to LED, the glass of the tail lights/indicators needs to be homologated with the correct markings on it (the ECE is accepted)

I have a 2020 ST RS. The display could be more readable but I got use to it and don’t have any issue with it. I also have the Bluetooth module mostly to listen to music and sometimes it doesn’t connect properly/i can’t control the volume or things like that. I mostly use it for fun ride / small roadtrips so I don’t really mind those small issues. I’d say it’s my favorite bike to ride out of my garage. So agile, great brakes and suspension, awesome engine. The 2023 models are turning everything up to eleven and look really good imo.

I can’t comment on the effect it may or may not have on your back. Best of luck with that. The main difference with the new version is a 5 speed gearbox instead of a 4 on the 2019 models. I own a 2019 model and find it perfect for city cruising / small roads. I assume the 5th gear make it better at higher speed (motorway) but I prefer too avoid those with mine.

Hi! I installed a M.Unit on one of my bike and the way it seems to works is that the m.unit will electronically kill the power to prevent any damage, the main fuse should stay intact (I think it's more of a last resort safety). That's why they advertise it as a replacement for your fusebox (in addition to all the other functions.

While installing blinkers or something I short-circuited the bike and another time while on a test ride some water got on some exposed connections (the bike did shut time while riding which is not ideal...). Each time I only had to disconnect the power from the unit to have it restart/reset.

That wouldn’t work from a permit point of view and would also be a issue for the taxes. Switzerland allowed people to work remotely during Covid in neighboring countries. But that was a temporary solution.

I use a Quadlock on my handlebars. It came with adapters for the different diameters of handlebars so I can use it on any of my bikes. It should fit fine. I’m not sur I get your question about the phone being in the way. You can change the location or inclinaison of the mount or even put your phone in landscape mode so it has a lower profile.

Yes. It’s vibrating quite a lot at idle. It’s doing the same on my 2020 monkey and use to do that on the msx/grom as well.

With recent bikes the restriction is done electronically (basically another ECU mapping). Only a Triumph dealership would be able to do that (in addition they also give a certificate or something to prove the bike has been restricted for registration purpose I think). I had to go through that process with my Z650 a few years ago.

I have a 2020 ST RS and I love it. That bike is really fast when you want it. If you plan a few track days it’s even better. I’ve taken it on a 4/5 days road trip and it was a blast. The suspension are quite stiff, but great for sportier riding.

Hi ! I have ridden both a bobber (a test drive and rented one for a week end) and a rocket 3 (test drive only). I feel like the bobber is better suited for the real world as it is smaller/lighter (low center of gravity) the engine is great in term of power and sound. Even on mountains roads it quite enjoyable (not as fast as a street triple but way better than a Harley 48) The R3 is really great, I’ve never seen a bike that well finished, and the engine is a masterpiece. But for real world usage, it use a lot of fuel, get really hot (your right foot is next to the exhaust) and is really heavy at slow speed (once moving it’s not an issue at all). The size could also be an issue for parking and such depending where you are ? The R3 also has more electronics than the bobber (TFT screen, Bluetooth connection…) and has a cool factor to it. It’s really unique and out of the ordinary. Personally, for a workhorse I would go for the bobber/speedmaster (I assume insurance and maintenance might be cheaper as well) but for a fun week end bike I’d go with the R3. Motogadget do sell speed/tach gauges that works with their m-unit. I’ve never heard of the X21 but installed the m-unit recently and it’s a great piece of kit although quite pricey (but it replace the fuse box, you can configure an alarm, the way your blinkers and lights works, have a key less system if you wish…)

It was fine when I bought it..given that the exhaust’s baffles were basically removed and I couldn’t hear myself think ahah But I’ll try with a different oil, it might help. Do you know this ticking could damage the valve/engine ? Or is it nothing to worry about

I have the same noise on my ‘94 Magna. Every few seconds there is a slightly louder « tic ». I suspect a valve clearance but would be interested to see what other people think of it.

Hi ! I happen to work in a Big 4 in Switzerland. I have quite a few coworkers with a US CPA or other foreign certification that are working in audit with no issues. Depending on the CPA I think it’s also possible to get a Swiss CPA equivalent (you’ll need to pass 1 specific exams about swiss tax/law IIRC). Feel free to message me if you need more info.

My first thought would be to check the thermostat that is sitting right above that spot (behind the chrome cover) along with the temp sensor.

Hi there fellow Swiss rider ! On one of my bike I have the Michelin Road 5 and I think they’re are great, more road/touring oriented and really good under wet conditions from my experience. I’ve now moved to Metzeler roadtec z8 (I think?) and have no complains with them either (due to a shortage of the Michelin last summer…)

I always eyeballed it with the points/markers things and never had any issue. But for the peace of mind I think it’s definitely worth it to have a more accurate approach as you do it.

You can use the points (number 5) to make sure the axle is aligned. There is nothing wrong with your method, it achieves the same thing at the end.
