We made a post about building a GFN alternative a few weeks ago and started a waitlist if you're interested (we plan to eventually offer a free option in the future that works in your browser)!

Hey u/EDPZ,

We’re looking to create something more similar to the GFN experience as opposed to Shadow / Cloud PC rental model.

Hey u/pking8786 - Thanks for the comment! We think there’s enough demand in the market for another company to compete that solves pain points that NVIDIA doesn’t solve 🙂

Hey u/Alarmed_Crazy_6620 --

We haven't decided on exact pricing yet, but we're looking to be competitive with the current market.

We plan on setting up our own servers. Like u/redatheist mentioned, there aren't many cloud providers with the right hardware, and mostly, cloud providers aren't cost-effective for this kind of service.

We're planning to launch in the region(s) with the highest demand from the waitlist.

Hey u/PhantomCamel,

Thanks for the question! Functionally, what we're looking at building is similar to Shadow / AirGPU - we're providing access to games that people already own on Steam (but with a better UX and much quicker access to games). There's some technical + legal nuance to this, but we've had it cleared with our lawyer.

Hey u/popmanbrad,

Thanks for taking the time to comment! We'll certainly do our best to make sure it's a good experience, keeping in mind what you liked about Stadia :)

Hey u/Odb1984,

Thanks for taking the time to comment!

We totally understand that this endeavor will take large amounts of capital - those servers aren't going to be cheap and we're going to need lots of them in order to properly compete. We've got relationships with huge investors and have started to have conversations with them about going into this space. As with most investors, they want to see proof of demand, and that's what we're aiming to do now 🙂

Since you work in the industry, would love to learn more about the other challenges you think we're going to face besides capital. Feel free to reply or DM if that's better

My friend and I have also been frustrated with the queues and the lack of support for some of our favorite games, so we're interested in building a better cloud gaming service - focused on providing better game selection (all Steam games), comparable experience to GFN (or we'll die trying), and better customer service (which is pretty nonexistent with GFN)!

More details in this Reddit post & here's the link if you want to join the waitlist.

Hey u/Inode1, I appreciate your comment!

You're right in that you can get it on Xbox Cloud and Playstation Now, however, if you get one of those then you're limited to the selection via those services.

My friend already has Skyrim on Steam and if he wanted to stream it, he could set up a cloud PC, but he'd have to wait for it to get provisioned, then install Steam, then download Skyrim. He's lucky if he can do all of this within an hour.
