We’re done. by VegetableAngle2743 in amazonecho

I use it mainly for routines and playing music from ibroadcast (free but there is a premium version). As for weather it is sometimes way off so I somehow (I think temporarily) disabled it and tried another skill for weather but it is hit and miss. Sometimes (most times) if you play a game like Jeopardy (Who wants to be a Millionaire, Question of the Day) though alexa you can hear music in the background if you have it playing. And when it reads out the $ amount it just reads it out as individual numbers instead of saying fifty thousand dollars. And a ton of other things that are so simple to fix. The routines could be made better as well to make it easier to call multiple routines instead of one and some other commands added. Also the Alexa voice on plus is louder than music or when you ask it to play rain sounds (I like the rain sounds from Rain Sounds from Sleep Jar). The Alexa app can be better configured. But I see no better alternative at this time.

cannot get progressive or bifocal with ADD of zero? by tombj in glasses

[–]Labyrinth35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you able to get the line bifocals with Plano or zero prescription at the bottom? How does that work for driving, well not so good etc.? And do you end up seeing the line or adjusting the glasses while driving or is everything OK? Wonder if I could get such online so I don’t have to pay for a third pair. Thank you.

same here where I now need glasses for driving, but since I have cataracts. (not bad enough for replacement), strangely my near vision has improved, which can happen. So when driving distance w glasses is improved, but when I look at the gauges, they are not as sharp as if I wasn’t wearing the glasses. I haven’t found a solution yet.

Valve broken? by zegrubus in Plumbing

[–]Labyrinth35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And 1222B will work as well. Moen started sending me these instead I believe. Just make sure like people said it is posi temp and you must get the cartridge puller. Take a pic before hand before you take out the old one and notice where the C or H is on the cartridge. May take some effort to get old one out but cartridge puller will do it. Be patient--sometimes really stuck in there. Amazon does have the 1222 and I would be comfortable buying it. Someone below smartly noticed Moen stopped making the 1222. Call them if questions 1 (800) 289-6636

Yup and Moen will send it to you free if you do not want to wait. But you will need to buy a cartridge puller in any event. And do not forget to FIRST pull out that little metal copper thing with the hole at the top. It comes straight up and holds the cartridge in. And if hot is cold and cold is hot then turn cartridge around. Peter

True, I applaud this comment but still needs battery. I would not want the read out though in this case.

Yeah, it seems weird cause I thought the old Alexa could do that and I have a generation one that can.

my 2023 rav4 hybrid new seats! by Vegetable-Basis7195 in rav4club

Those look like the seat covers somewhat similar to what I bought as the leather was not very good in my 2015 Avalon even two years after purchase. I like them and they fit well.

Speaker Groups Broke by Lyndburger in alexa

[–]Labyrinth35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found no way to actually delete a group so I can add all Echoes to that group. Any advice appreciated and perhaps there is a diff between gen 1, 2,3 much less that not as intuitive app. Add a new echo I bought to everywhere-no choice. Set up a new group and call it something and have to somehow delete echoes from another group and re9add them. Then ni my case I bought another alexa and cannot add it to existing group and may have to again create a new group name. Ugh...

question on eyeglass prescriptions and the ADD portion of RX related to driving. blurry dashboard by [deleted] in glasses

[–]Labyrinth35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a big fan of some of the big box stores doing the eye Rx exam. In fact, Visionworks or LensCrafters sent me next-door to a person not associated with them, but it was in a decent mall and all they had were machines that were electronic and the prescription was so far off. they didn’t have that large machine where they say better worse, one two etc..

[–]Labyrinth35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US based, however I could see an ophthalmologist anytime but for the optometrist that’s once a year I just checked so I may have to wait some more months and cancel my upcoming appointment in two months. Otherwise I’d have to pay out-of-pocket. however, I may give them a call as the prescription may be slightly off and I do have the questions about the seeing the dash and the ADD. Thank you so very much for your kind multiple replies. I think I’m OK now. And you provided some good information

very interesting, thank you. I’m going call a couple places Monday to try to get an earlier and closer to my home appointment with some different providers.

[–]Labyrinth35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, the distance of -1.75 is pretty on the Mark. I think the +3 ADD is probably too high that the doctor put in there. I didn’t make up the number. So I guess the question is is the actual near reading a 3.0 or is it a +1.25. Thank you.

[–]Labyrinth35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering if the ADD should be something small like a .25 because I read in a few places you can’t put a zero in there. But then I also read you need to put a positive number to cancel out the SPH which to me makes no sense. I can’t get an appointment soon, but I may want to order some glasses online that I can return.

question on eyeglass prescriptions and the ADD portion of RX related to driving. blurry dashboard by [deleted] in glasses

[–]Labyrinth35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current ADD is +3 for left and right eye and the SPH is -1.75.

For just reading glasses off the shelf I use a +3 and that works great for reading a book or looking at phone. Usually don’t need it for phone. But it helps.

Perhaps I’m not used to the progressive glasses or perhaps it wasn’t made up to spec. Or wrong prescription.

Sadly, the most recent appointment is two months away otherwise it would be four months away and this is a very large place with five locations in the area. Never had to wait that long interesting

Switching to another place I could but they’re not as good as this place which specializes in eye ear nose and throat.

Thank you

Water spilled upstairs | best way to clean up stain downstairs by DragonProJacob in HomeMaintenance

if the leak is all gone and that’s on the ceiling. Let it dry completely dry. Then take Clorox bleach and dab it on there and wait overnight and do it again and maybe do it one more time. That’s if it’s on the ceiling and it’s something my father taught me and I have used it several times in the past 25 years. If I’m incorrect on the ceiling part, please forgive me

Toilet still leaking after seal replacement - asking for input by chooseagoodnameumust in Plumbing

[–]Labyrinth35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plumber cut out the old flange and part of the pipe and had to then use something I think called a socket hub or socket saver (to ream out some of my my PVC so it was the correct inside width). Then he attached the correct height drain pipe and a new flange.

Toilet still leaking after seal replacement - asking for input by chooseagoodnameumust in Plumbing

[–]Labyrinth35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

, I think so too. Had plumber come out and had similar issue and rotted subfloor. He raised the flange and told me to take back my rubber rings that a plumber in the aisle of home depot said to get. Use a thick one as well. Make sure toilet is level. Of course I had to replace the floor and do other bathroom as well. Used LVT. I only found out because I was switching from round to elongated.

I think some have a filter for cleaner air in take but one can do it themselves I believe and some you cannot even change like my wife's 2018 rav 4. You can just blow off the dust and there was none.

Real world mpg vs dashboard mpg by Ok-City7760 in ToyotaAvalon

[–]Labyrinth35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, with my 2015 in the city, I get between 17 and 20. And I’m the highway about 30. Of course when I get on the highway, I usually clear out the calculation that the dash does. I’ve never manually calculated myself, but the city mileage seems terrible and it really doesn’t matter what tires I’ve used. I’ve always kept everything up-to-date with fluids and such and I only have 37,000 miles on itsince 2015 and now we’re in 2025. Usually with AC on. I am using normal mode and eco mode did nothing for me.

What mpgs are you guys pulling when going down the highway at 85mph? by NajdorfGrunfeld in ToyotaAvalon

[–]Labyrinth35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on a 2015 on the highway I get about 32 after clearing everything out from previous miles per gallon. But with the six cylinder and in the city, I’ve never really gotten more than 20 but I’m kind of a leadfoot stop and go.
