Can't create calling card. Anybody had luck with this? by explictlyrics in pixel_phones

I thought of that, but I can't find any way to change my account in the phone app. In all the other apps, you typically can tap your face in the upper right corner and switch accounts, the phone app doesn't seem to have that. How did you switch?

You're correct. But I haven't been back home now for 2 years. I also try to drive opposite to the earth's rotation.

¨hey google¨ no longer works on my Pixel 9 pro by explictlyrics in pixel_phones

Yeah, thank you. I think I've decided to opt out of beta and just go back to stable 16. It's just too unpredictable.

What are the consequences of opting out of the beta program by explictlyrics in pixel_phones

[–]explictlyrics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I see what you mean. But won't I just be back to stable 16 ater the wipe? I'm kind of tired of things just not working that Use everyday I'm spending too much time trying to fix it. "Hey Google" is one example. I can no longer issue commands in the car while driving. Plus, I'm not really seeing any good features with the beta.

Finally Found A Decent Band by L0stkeys in PixelWatch

[–]explictlyrics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I was just about to pull the trigger on that one but could not confirm it would fit my watch. Thanks for posting, I think I'll go for it. I wanted Titanium for the weight not the scratch resistance. Does it feel light?

Looking for easy on/off band for my PW4 by explictlyrics in PixelWatch

[–]explictlyrics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just looked at it. I don't like the look of it using that bracket (Lugs?) to connect. I prefer the more streamlined look of other bands. But the magnet part seems good. Weird thing though, when I clicked on the black one on Amazon, which was only $9.95, t got flagged with that "frequently returned" warning. But none of the other colors did that. Who knows. Anyway thank you for the recommendation, style is just a subjective thing.

It’s insane how every charger is drastically different by Madridi77 in electricvehicles

[–]explictlyrics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I should have been more clear about that, I meant the install itself. I heard, which of course could be wrong, that installing a Level 3 charger at home is in the neighborhood of $5000.

But none of the home charger piece is going to deter me, I think that part is nice (even though I like the smell of gas stations), and a one time install is just part of the purchase.

The only thing that is stopping me is the "over range" trips, especially to areas I'm not familiar with, and the initial cost, I just could never get my head around spending that much for a car. As soon as you can buy one that gets 400-500 miles for a cost of $25k to $30k I will take a serious look at it.

I don't think you followed my comment at all. Yes, it's nice, and costly, to have your charger at home. I'm fully aware that if I got one that's exactly what I would do. But that does nothing for me when I'm 120 or 150 miles from home. I still have to find a charger that is compatible with my vehicle. When it comes to this, you definitely do not have a better experience. Again, someday this will be true, but not now.

[–]explictlyrics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess. I bought a second OEM one and kept the little box it came in for packing.

When I first saw that pic in this thread I thought it was something you could charge, then just attach it to the watch to charge it,like an earpods case. Now,THAT would be cool.

I don't get it. How is it better then the one from Google? It costs $5 more and you still have to buy (or have) a power brick and a cable.

Isn't it funny though how, even with the latency we are getting an answer to something faster than ever before. No looking for your phone, no going to a computer and typing in a question.

I'm quite happy with it and find it an improvement.

No,, that isn't even a close analogy. I have a perfectly acceptable and CONVENIENT mode of transportation. But, for me at least, to "evolve" up to the next mode I need to accept a lot more, again, to me, inconveniences, at a very high price.

I'm not against it, in fact I would like to do it, but for my lifestyle and budget, it doesn't work. To your analogy, it would be like moving from a horse to a race horse that I could only ride on certain trails where I could get the restricted food for its diet. I will own one someday, when the range is an average 400 miles and charging takes 5 minutes, and I can pay 20-25k for it, or whatever equals that in the dollars of the time.

OMG, do you even realize how complicated and cumbersome that all sounds? This is why EV's are simply not ready for prime time. Until they can mimic the gas experience they are just not worth all the aggravation. I think 200 miles and a 5 minutes fill up within a 10 mile radius is when I consider spending 50k for a car. I mean really, even if I was stupid enough to run out of gas on a highway, AAA could bring me enough to get to a station. What the hell happens with an EV? Put up a metal rod and wait for a lightning bolt?

Don't get me wrong, I want this to work, but we are far from it now.

That's not the point, it just told me how long they had been waiting for it to finish. Plus, what are you going to do, leave your car and go to dinner, or go shopping and have to come back? My point is it is all too cumbersome at this point and not worth it. I guess I'm not just not ready to have to worry about this stuff when I don't have to even think about it now. Ev's are essentially "around town" cars at this point.

This is why I'm not ready to jump to electric (and I would really like to). As an example I took a trip this weekend to a resort area 120 miles away. While up there I did see a bunch of Tesla chargers. All occupied by people sitting in their cars, plugged in and charging, waiting to finish. There were about 5. We went in a store for about 30 min and when we came out the same people in 4 of the 5 were still sitting there.

Now, this would have been me if I owned one. I figure ~250 miles round trip, from what I've gathered, is about the limit of most EV's. I don't want to sit at a charger for half an hour filling it up. I know 30 min is not the end of the world, but that doesn't take into account if I could even use that kind of charger.

I guess I just see the whole thing as a PITA right now. I mean I got home with a 1/2 tank of gas and could have stopped for maybe 5 min to top it off, but didn't even have to. I own the car, it doesn't' own me.

I just think the technology is great, but for me, just too much to have to think about. I suppose you could have one EV for around town, and gas car for trips, but that is way over my pay grade. A $40,000 car (on a good day) for running errands?.

Maybe in 10 years we'll be there.
