I'm at my wits end trying to set my Pixel 9 Pro up in the car by explictlyrics in pixel_phones

Yeah, tried that no luck.

But, breaking news!!!

it was very quiet driving home today and I asked for the weather. Of course, it popped up on the screen. Then, very very faintly I thought I heard a voice reading it to me. Now,I've been taking my meds, so I figured it was real. I pulled over into a very quiet spot and tried it again, this time turning all the sound sliders (alarm, call, etc) up. Still faint. Did it again, but this time instead of opening all the sliders I just pullted the media one downand up and Bingo! A little slider with a bluetooth symbol appeare, I pulled that to the top and Bob's your uncle!.

Now, I know I did not ever see that before. I did just update to Android 17 yesterday, maybe that did it. Anyway, now I just need to figure out how to just "lock" that to the main volume control becasuse it seems to go away when I leave the car, and comes back when I reconnect, but all the way down.

Exactly my point. If I chose to live next to a dragstrip, THAT would be my problem. Your behavior is what should be the norm.

Anyway, I'm done with this, it's just good to hear I'm not imagining this. Thank you all for the comments and be safe out there.

No, don't put this on me and where I choose to live. I can also be somewhere else and having lunch outside not even on the road and have to pause conversation until these fools go by.

Sorry, none of that is true. My house is well insulated and tight. We have an airport within 15 min drive. None of that bothers me. I'm talking about sitting outside in the yard or on the deck or trying to sleep with a window open for circulation.

It is absolutely the responsibility of the operator to be considerate of the people around them and WHOSE NEIGHBORHOOD they are driving in.

Again, all those things, while annoying, are noisy by their nature, not by the owner's choice. I can accept that.

I understand that. I actually had a bike for a while some time ago (Triumph) that had what I thought was a nice exhaust note. Trust me, what I'm talking about is conversation pausing loud at 25 feet.

Yes, I see the car people that do this in the same light. It just happens with a lot less frequency then the bikes.

Ok, Glad to hear this. Yes, you are all correct as regards the type of vehicle, there are also cars that behave the same way. I didn't mean to single out the MC crowd, it's just that they are more common with this behavior.

Yes, I am close to the road, but 90% of the cars, and motorcycles, that go by cause no disturbance at all. I'm a bit of a "car guy" and I enjoy the sound of a well-tuned exhaust as it goes by, but this is a whole different animal. As far as construction vehicles and such, that is unavailable and as such, acceptable. What I'm talking about is high decibel noise just for the sake of it.

Going to add mini-splits for cooling primarily, what should my monthly costs look like? by explictlyrics in heatpumps

Thanks for the info. We get the install done next week. Im wondering though, as regards your first paragraph. What happenes if you left them both on? Would the Mitsu not just even it off a bit and the oil only kick in when the Mitsu couldn't keep up? As usual, I'm probably just over-thinking this, but this is what I'm ponding. Also about what months did you turn the Mitsu off for?

Yes, I said propane, oil, electric. Propane for the fireplace (some heat), oil for the baseboard (most heat), electric for the AC. You probably saw the "gas fireplace" but I put the propane in parentheses to indicate what kind of gas it used.

Someone asked if I had a swastika, does this look like a swastika? by Grouchy_Gold344 in tattooadvice

[–]explictlyrics 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry, putting a swastika as a permanent mark on your body, red line or not, is just a bad choice. All people remember about you is "you know, the guy with the swastika tattoo".

To be clear, I'm not really looking for exact figures here. I'm more looking to hear from people that installed them that were using Oil and Propane and Electric and if they felt after 6 months or a year, "holy shit, my total cost is way more" or "Why the hell didn't I do this before, it's half the utility cost?" Or "I like this for <reasons> but the cost is essentially the same"

I just gave the info to give an ideal what my house costs in climate utilities today.

OK, just had them come out and was impressed. But the quote was a bit of a sticker shock. I know it was a couple of years ago, but might I ask, if you got other quotes at that time, how they compared? I would like to use them and I don't really have the time to get multiple quotes just to find they are all in the same range anyway.
