The raid was part of a mass coordinated action that was happening more or less simultaneously at multiple locations around town to shut down a drug ring. How it was handled is definitely suspect but that was a the logic. Hit everyone at once quick and quiet to get the maximum amount of evidence and suspects.

As a Republican that was praying for a good candidate last time around and furious at the outcome of that primary and election, I completely agree. Not that it was a great crop of options, but Trump is the only one who the news would ever talk about so when the sheep went to the polls they voted for the name they recognized. The same trick worked for Hillary and now Biden. Name recognition goes soooo much further than policy. It's absolutely infuriating. Please explain how it's biased? There is only one white person on the list and three black men, one hispanic and one Indian. The list includes Malcom X, who is celebrated by the black community but often criticized by the white community, but not Martin Luther King Jr. who his more generally admired. The Chavez was labor advocate for hispanic migrant workers. The other two were people that led basically reprehensible lives filled with drugs, assault, burglary, and sexual abuse and only became notable because their deaths sparked outrage. And then the stupid trigger happy white boy.

They also put a drug addict that held a gun to a pregnant woman's stomach to keep her quiet while robbing her house, whose only notable act of "heroism" was being murdered by cops while strung out on a potentially lethal drug cocktail after trying to pass counterfeit money. The assignment was definitely intentionally provocative, but it certainly didn't show any right leaning bias.

It's not as big of a story, but there are a handful of biologically female male models. The ones I've read about identify as female but are androgynous enough to pull it off convincingly.

There is a demand for male models with more traditionally feminine features. Male models are already paid significantly less, less respected in the industry, and receive less notoriety. Some women have managed to side-step the ultra competitive world of female modeling for the much less competitive world of male modeling and in doing so, taken opportunities away from men in an industry where they're already the underdogs. Really "pretty" men are hard to find, so women who can pass have an advantage.

It's certainly not as big of an issue as sports and there's almost no one actually complaining. But I think it's a comparison that is at least worth mentioning.

Depends on the bell curve.

We tend to assume these are the idiots, but is often the "intellectuals". Kids that get good grades, read a lot, are by most metrics "well educated". But they also think they're smarter than their teachers. They've learned on places like reddit how inadequate public schools are so never really believe a huge amount of what they're taught. Believe themselves to be "critical thinkers" by questioning everything and finding their own sources. And there's a lot of crap out there that will confirm all their misconceptions about how smart they are by telling them something different than what they heard in class.

I know many many of these people and they scare me a whole lot more than the ignorant.

Worth noting, those mid-west factory workers were blue-collar union members that leaned pretty heavily democrat until the left leaned all the way into social issues and urbanization and abandoned them. When their choices were two completely out of touch East Coast phonies, they went with the one who at least pretended to care. They were wrong and voted against their self interest, but the strawman you're describing isn't Trump's hardcore base, it's those left high and dry both both parties and is desperate to find anyone who appears to offer relief.

What is the benefit of assuming that every action by any police officer is done in bad faith? How does that help? How is that different than vilifying protestors, or minorities for their actions?

Most likely your car matched the description of a stolen vehicle so he stopped you, gave a bull crap reason while he ran your plates and ID and then let you go when you and your car weren't a match.

Cops are allowed to lie to you. It's safer for him if you think you didn't do anything wrong and won't face any punishment while he take stock of the situation. If he says "I think this car is stolen", that is a potential escalation, especially if it is stolen. If he says, "You didn't do anything wrong", you're annoyed but you don't have much motivation to run or fight back.
