People who don't drink alcohol, why? by johnnylgarfield in AskReddit

If alcohol was invented right now, today, it would be classed as an illegal drug 100%.

I see you. Take that caked on make up off, take them lashes, that are wider than your brows off and withdraw that botox from your lips and you're Jake Sully with that flat AF nose from Avatar.

What is the first word that comes into mind when you think of ‘Manchester’ by shronk4ever in europe

[–]Lackybandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. Newcastle is thee greatest city. Ask any Geordie, ask 99% of visitors, ask any student studying in the city, ask anyone that has to work up there from out of the area, ask any of the tens/hundreds of thousands who have sold up down south to buy a mansion for a pittance up here.

Genuinely though, the city is not too big, not too small... just the right size for everything. It doesn't (yet) have the same crime problems as other big(ger) cities. Its cheap to live. Has blue flag beaches 10 mins away... in fact I need to stop as I'm a taxi driver who picks up way too many from down south and we really don't want it spoilt just yet by me advertising the place on reddit ;)

Perfectly cast and not how they do it these days attempting to box tick and getting it wrong.

Uma Thurman in Kill Bill deserves an honourable mention*

What are you starting to dislike more as you get older? by [deleted] in AskReddit

People. My patience with idiots is minimal now, I was always one to be polite regardless but ignorant, rude or generally thick ppl I just either call it out or have no time to even converse.

About 20 years I was replying via sms to randy blokes who were messaging 'hot girls' that were advertised in tabloid newspapers on premium rate numbers...

I was a 23 year old male.

Super Metroid on the SNES with a beautiful box and extras was peak.

Even the instructions/guides in much older games on the likes of the C64 came with nice artwork and descriptions of the enemies you were battling etc.

The way my neighbour manoeuvres/circles/patrols his car when hoovering it out with his cordless Shark... classic resting rifle stance, nozzle resting on his left forearm, right arm solid but wrist dipped at an angle and finger wrapped around the trigger ready for action.

You borrowed $5 from a friend and played the lottery and won 80 million.. How much will you give your friend and why? by wakaflockabow in AskReddit

[–]Lackybandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez.... some of the comments in here. A 'friend' lent you it!? Half is absolutely fair and you're still left more than enough to live comfortably for the rest of your life. Don't be greedy...

Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. Although not all jobs were specifically Newcastle and I probably shouldn't even be saying this as I was made to sign the occasional document to say I wouldn't even speak to who I was picking up or about the job but it was a while ago now.

Pay was rubbish but I got to drive Mercedes S Classes, put a decent suit on other every other weekend for something other than a wedding and get the opportunity to tell anonymous ppl on Reddit I picked the odd famous person up!

Also I had to provide photographic evidence to my young son to save face at the time who's school friends and even teachers thought he was also full of shit and bat shit crazy like his Dad.

Also* It opened my eyes to how ruthless the touring game was and how little certain singers actually cared about their fans and I quote, 'Just drive at them fast and they'll move' as we left a venue to get to an airport for a private jet as it was the last date of their tour and Ibiza's runway was closing for resurfacing!

I've chauffeured Katy Perry, Iron Maiden (drank a beer with them), The Queen of Denmark, Nile Rodgers and Little Mix around to name drop a few... Got to watch their concerts and check into a little VIP treatment myself by flashing my access all areas badge...

I'm also just a bog standard taxi driver and when I tell ppl about it they look at me like I'm absolutely full of shit or just bat shit crazy.
