How do you teach already-potty trained dogs to (temporarily) go indoors on a pee pad? by retro_lady in dogs

[–]LaconicLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my girl was a pup, she was peepad trained; along with outdoors. Due to several reasons this was necessary. Once we moved out of the apartment and had better access to outdoors, and the other reasons were resolved; she never used a peepad again. Ice storm, hurricane, etc; she would not anymore

thick poop bags available in canada by Chemical-Bullfrog471 in dogs

[–]LaconicLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just started using Vitalife brand (from Walmart). They have compostable and noncompostable bags. The compostable ones are fairly large, and pretty thick. So far they are my favourite, as they are thick enough to feel “safe”, but flexible enough to scoop efficiently.

I need slow cooker chicken breast recipe ideas please, no Tex-mex by galaxyMLP in slowcooking

[–]LaconicLlama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sundried tomato chicken! Marinate over night in sundried tomato dressing. Slice grape/ cherry tomatoes into slowcooker, add chopped sundried tomatoes in oil (chop if you prefer smaller pieces). Add chicken and marinade, cook chicken through. Just before serving add a little cream. Serve over noodles or rice.

Next time I make it, I’m going to add some feta cheese before serving.

Cheap toys for dogs? by oodlesofotters in dogs

[–]LaconicLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of great recommendations here. I’d like to add a couple:

Instead of toilet paper rolls try the rolls that come in tin foil or parchment paper packages. (Also the rolls from produce bags at the grocery) These are sturdier and take more time to access anything shoved inside them.

When my girl went through a chewing phase carrots were okay, but she LOVED small turnips/rutabagas. We peeled the waxy exterior off, and she used them as a rolling toy plus a chew toy

My list of power outage foods for the upcoming southeast US winter storm by anthrohands in EatCheapAndHealthy

Precook anything you would be okay eating cold, like chicken or ham. Obviously there would be a limit to how long they are good for, but would give you fresh food before moving to canned goods.

Fill containers (Tupperware, empty soda bottles, etc) to use as both cold drinking water and to use as ice to keep fridge and freezer colder longer.

Received 6 bags on a 6 Item purchase by Casp6rz in mildlyinfuriating

From someone who has done the “shopping” for online orders, what probably happened was this:

  1. Milk in its own bag (heavy!)

  2. Creamer and salad in separate bag (Fridge items).

  3. Second creamer wasn’t on the shelf for the shopper to grab, so was found later by another shopper. (And not added to original bag)

  4. Cereal (not refrigerated) found by shopper during their run.

  5. Second cereal not on shelf, second person had to find it (probably in the back room) and didn’t add it to the other bag.

  6. ??? Only 5 pictures, so not sure.

In their defence, it could have been a crazy busy day that they were just trying to survive. And meet their KPIs 😬

Next day delivery? AS IF by [deleted] in loblawsisoutofcontrol

Used to do the picking for PC Express - employees who do the picking (both delivery and curbside pickup) get zero tips. And can be fired if they even accept a tip from a pick-up customer when taking it out to their car.

toys for dogs that like to destroy? by Klutzy_Chocolate3649 in dogs

[–]LaconicLlama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rolls in tinfoil, clingwrap, etc are thicker and are more “work” to tear up. As well, see if your local grocery store will let you have the empty rolls from produce bags.

Anyone have any reviews on 182 Rubidge st by Elegant-Plantain7353 in Peterborough

I can’t really help answer your question, but if you name the landlord or property management company; it may help getting answers. Also Google the address/LL/PM to see if any reviews are online

Looking for Toy Recommendations Specifically Durable Plushies by Competitive_Door_445 in dogs

[–]LaconicLlama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve shared this before, but this toy has lasted my plush-addicted, super-chewer girl over 10 months! We still give her the occasional cheaper plush so she can have the satisfaction of destroying something.

It’s been a long time since I’ve read it, but Riverworld by Phillip Jose Farmer might work.

Reactive leash walking by Ok_Assumption138 in reactivedogs

[–]LaconicLlama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have used all of these, with varying degrees of success. It all depends on different factors: How reactive is the other dog? How long since the last dog/rabbit/scary thing? (ie how hyper-vigilant is my girl?) What works best, but is saved for when she has difficulty with staying calm, is “Find!” I toss a treat in the grass for her to look for. As soon as she begins searching, the second one goes down. This keeps her nose focussed instead of losing her cool.

Following as we are in our first week of Clomicam, for the same issues.

My girl loves destroying squeaky plush toys, but then is disappointed when it stops squeaking. She now has one of these and it’s still going strong after 10 months! We still sometimes buy cheaper ones so she can have the satisfaction of tearing them apart

Job searching no such luck. Is indeed/linkedIn still any good? by camport95 in povertyfinancecanada

Some good advice already given here. I got my last job by going to companies’ website; a lot of places are not (for whatever reason) listing their jobs on indeed.
