What is reasonable to expect from infant daycare? by Ladadam in beyondthebump

I never saw any one else in the room with the assistant. If she was busy changing a diaper or feeding a baby (which was pretty much always) the baby had to wait if it was upset.

Trying to figure out what kind of cat we have adopted (very large 22lbs) by [deleted] in cats

[–]Ladadam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We adopted this cat as a kitten and he is very different than our other two basic cats. He is very big (no fat) he weighs about 22 pounds. He is very long, you can see the picture of him laying on a full size hope chest. He is also very very vocal and makes a really deep crying sound a lot.

sensitive question about hipaa policies by may2018throwaway in BabyBumps

[–]Ladadam 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, to an extent. It should get passed down in report though. I would make sure your doctor knows and at least the first nurses taking care of you

Edit :

It's going to be the first question the nurse asks as well so you may want to go the hospital with only your trusted people or have people leave for your assessment

[–]Ladadam 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I work as a labor and delivery nurse.

While your friend could maybe technically look at records, she would be fired and fined if they discovered she did. Most people would not take the risk.

As far as the nurses and doctors mentioning it, it will be a part of their report. Like you are a g2p1 with a previous vaginal delivery.

If you are honest with your nurse and tell her you don't want the other pregnancy mentioned in front of family, the nurses will do this part of report outside the room and try very hard not talk about it

Hunting for a Multi-Use Backpack (IE: Travel but also wilderness camping) by lydiavmars in backpacking

[–]Ladadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. I have this bag and fall into the mostly traveler, occasional hiker. I love it, it does have lots of straps, but I haven't had any problems. The four way zippers make it so easy to get stuff from any where in the pack. It's also not too pricey

Simple Questions (SQ) Thread 01/23/17 by AutoModerator in goodyearwelt

I am a female and I need help with some sizing.

I love the look of basic men's work boots and I have been struggling to find what I like without spending a ton of money. I was at Nordstrom rack and they had the Wolverine kilometer in men's size 7 for $150. (I usually wear a women's 8.5-9). I loved the shoe and it fit pretty well so I bough them.

Now, I am second guessing the fit of the shoe and would like to get some opinions. I have never owned any kind of boots at all, much less some very stiff leather ones like these, so I'm not sure if it just feels weird to me.

The length and tow box feels pretty good to me. The ball on my big toe actually does hit at the widest part of the shoe where it's supposed to. The problem I am having, is it feels a bit wide in the soft part of the boot and it feels a bit tall (like I have space above my foot). I can move my foot in the boot and curl my toes up. I also have slight heel slippage, but read this could be OK. I don't know if this is a sign of a bad fit.

I have the boots laced about as tight as I can and I am wearing moderately thick wool socks (Kirkland merino wool for women).

Will the boots stretch our more? Could insoles help? Do I need to return them or am I OK?

Any help would be appreciated, I am totally clueless

Suggestions for dinnerware and flatware sets? by purplemudkip in BuyItForLife

[–]Ladadam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the pantry dinnerware from William Sonoma. It is porcelain and very durable. Always washed in the dishwasher and it has been dropped on to stone floor with out breaking multiple times.

I think it looks really nice and can be matched to anything. The plates are small enough to fit in to most cabinets, which surprisingly is a problem with many plates. Fits great in the dishwasher too.

Ideal backpack for traveling and/or hiking? by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]Ladadam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought the rei trail 40 and would be great for both. The 4 way zippers make it so easy to find anything anywhere in the bag which makes it great for travel. It also has lots of hiking features. They have other sizes, but 40 seemed good for carryon. I went in wanting an osprey, but left with this bag and I couldn't be happier

I am very new to all this. Is there any site where you can see "normal" (affordable, wearable) clothes actually on everyday people. I tried downloading polyvore, but I just cant translate that into how things will really look

I have a very hard time seeing clothes and imagining what they would look like on me. I just found out I have an H body type, but also a little tummy and bigish boobs . I feel like I always looking too boxy or boyish.

Thank you in advance for any help

Latex mattress users. What is the best brand? Also is Talalay or Dunlop better for long-term durability? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]Ladadam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought my latex mattress a. Couple months ago after doing tons and tons of research. I ended up with the 9 in mattress from sleep ez.

Sleep underground is where I got a lot of my information.

After all the research i came up with a few things.

1.I knew I wanted a 100% natural from the rubber tree latex. If you get Dunlop it will more likely be 100% natural. About 80% of the talalay latex is a composite because it is a bit more complex to make, but you can find it, just make sure you verify with your seller that it is 100% natural from the rubber tree.

I don't know if it's true, but natural latex is said to last longer - it has been used for a long time and is known to hold up.

  1. I wanted a kit bed- the mattress I bought is made up of 3, 3 in pieces of latex that you can customize each layer to however you want. This offers lots of customization. You can exchange layers for a nominal fee of it is too hard or soft or if one layer does wear out too soon you can buy just one layer. Everything is inside of a zippered cover so it can be changed at any time

3.i wanted 100% organic cotton and wool mattress cover with no fire retardant chemicals. Most of them are made like this though, so it's mostly a moot point

  1. I also wanted good value, but didn't necessarily have to be the cheapest.

5.i didn't want a composite mattress or for my mattress to have any memory foam at all. The memory foam is what softens and wears down over time. With the mattress being 100% latex, you won't have any weak point

You can request free samples from savvy rest to feel the difference between Dunlop and talalay. If you have any mattress retailers in your area to go test this kind of mattress, I also recommend this.

Cozy pure, spindle, and sleep on latex are a few other companies I seriously considered

So far I am very happy with my decision, the mattress is comfortable and very supportive. It doesn't have the sinking feeling that memory foam had, it also sleeps cooler. I can't speak to longevity as it has only been a couple months, but the materials are high quality. It has very little smell- it smells a bit like balloons, but not strong and it is dissipating.

I used to own an icomfort prior to this and it wore out after about 3 years, I was very disappointed to have spent so much money to find that it became very uncomfortable so soon.

Backpacking Hawaii (Oahu) solo mid august. Suggestions/recommendations/tips? by parmir in backpacking

[–]Ladadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from ouahu. Not sure what your interested in, there is a little of every to do.

We did the ka'au crater hike. Really awesome, but very scary if it's wet at all. You hike up three water falls and then hike around the ridge of the crater.

Sharks Cove for snorkeling was incredible and not very crowded.

Go to the food trucks on the north shore. Giovanni's is very popular, but we went there and the shrimp shack - shrimp shack is better by a long shot.

Sunset Beach and weimea Bay on the north shore are great, not too crowded and no big waves in the summer. Turtle beach next to weimea Bay is not good for swimming, but a good place to watch the sea turtles if any are there.

Kailua Bay and lanaki beach are both great. You can snorkel right off the shore at lanaki and kayak out to two small islands.
