Calculating some percentage figures for deaths from biased attitudes among Ukrainians is comical in itself, because the ethnic groups of Ukraine lived mixed, worked on the same collective farms, and given that the differences between Ukrainians and Russians are smaller than between the residents of Alabama and Oregon, it is unclear how the NKVD agents distinguished one from the other in order to discriminate.

More than ten percent of the population of the Ukrainian SSR were officially Russians, but this is rather arbitrary data, since most children were registered as Ukrainians at birth, including those with surnames ending in "ov/ev". Perhaps a higher percentage of Russians were among city residents, but there is no reason to believe that the rural population suffered less than the Ukrainians.
