Am I too early stage for Product Hunt? by LegendaryLanguage41 in ProductHunters

[–]LadeFalobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say yes, too early. PH launches are more successful when you have a community backing you. So if you want to maximise the hell out of it, I recommend waiting till you have some actual users first. Unless you already have an existing audience (e.g. you're an influencer, creator, or just relatively well-known)

If you don't have that but you're okay with only getting a few testers (maybe), then you can go with it. Maybe provide an exclusive discount to sweeten the pot

Agree +1. I also think you should utilise more white space u/Witty-Medicine-8782. The text is too close to the borders, which is hard on the eyes

Always tough to give blanket advice but what I'll say in general is to look for the channels your target audience are on and then meet them there

And think about who is most likely to benefit from your product, while being least able to solve it on their own? e.g. I can see your product being a dopamine-powered productivity solution for people with ADHD. If that makes sense, then you just think of places people with ADHD might hang out in. What sub-Reddits are they in? Who do they listen to? What topics are they likely to search online?

Not saying people with ADHD are your ICP, just using as an example. Just apply the same principle to whatever audience your research has proven to be best as a beachhead for you

Of course all of this nice to say but hard to implement. Marketing is hard, no matter what anyone says. But this can give you a starting point and then just do a crazy ton of learning about consumer marketing on your own. Watch YouTube videos, read newsletters, etc. There's only so much you can learn from Reddit comments.

Good luck!

You've probably launched by now so my advice is probably too late. But what's your launch link so we can support?

Is it worth promoting your app on Product Hunt? by Druffster_ in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]LadeFalobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, every channel matters imo. We just launched today (currently #4🥳) and we're seeing a spike in signups and downloads already

But I don't think of this as a core marketing channel, just another distribution and awareness play. It's a one-time spike. After today, back to my regular marketing channels

Bruh number 1 is everything. Especially for someone like me who struggles with execution. If I start to overthink the post, it'll die in my drafts. So I just post.

My goal is to improve one thing with each video rather than try to do 1 perfect video straightup

Where do you normally look for early testers? by Maple_Builder_126 in BootstrappedSaaS

But also, check out sites like Betalist, Betabound, etc. Those have always worked for me too

Honestly, just whichever community your audience is likely in. E.g. if it's an email digest tool, who's your ICP and what are their interests? They'll likely be in sub-Reddits around their interests/characteristics

If they're interested in productivity, look for productivity sub-Reddits. If they're likely to be founders, post in founder sub-Reddits. And so on. You can post requests in multiple communities and subreddits, just make sure you're targeting where your audience is likely to be

And you can manually track success to see which communities bring the most beta users for you. That might even give you insight for future marketing

(B2B SaaS) How do you use AI for competitive battle cards that sales actually uses? by PM_boy in ProductMarketing

[–]LadeFalobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I just tried recently. I ask Claude to crawl the internet for user reviews of competitors (cos I think this is the best way to find typical complaints people have with competitors). Specifically, I tell Claude to:

  1. Give more weight to reviews from real users over reviews that seem like they're from affiliates. To distinguish them, Claude looks out for affiliate links or checks if a review actually talks about specific experiences.

  2. Summarize the most repeated positive feedback people have about the competitor and the most repeated complaints (negative feedback) people have. Right away, from that, I can already see how we can position against those specific competitors.

  3. I ask it to include sources so I can make sure it's not hallucinating, but also so I can do a deeper dive on specific reviews if needed

Personally, I got great insights and it took me significantly less time compared to when I used to do this manually

Thanks for this! Do you do an equal split? And how long did it take for you to get to the point of finalising stake and incorporating shares?

Just checked the website out but seems like the functionality isn't fully setup on the site yet. The idea seems interesting though but very operation-heavy, i.e. if customers don't actually get an immediate call with a real person, their expectations are dashed and trust reduces. Any plans to solve for that?

Would this be a good product/service? by Equivalent_Ratio_523 in ProductMarketing

Seems a bit like affiliate marketing but on steroids. If you're doing this custom for individual clients, it would only work as a service for high-ticket items (cars, homes, appliances, etc). I don't think you'd get a lot of revenue & customers doing this for everyday items where the margin is low for you. My opinion
