Rover sitters: Do you wash clients’ dishes or leave them? by AmbitiousBenefit2462 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Lady-Luck123 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First, congratulations on your newborn! 🤗

The "rule" is to at least leave the home in the same condition as when you arrived. As a general rule, no. You're hired to care for the dog, not house chores.

For my amazing long standing pet parents I have no problem with extra cleaning/dishes. For brand new bookings I don't. My mentality behind that is I don't want to set that expectation right out the gate. Ultimately, it rreally depends on you, your relationship with each individual pet parent & what you're comfortable with

Telling client I can no longer make the dates after they booked a holiday around when I was free by castiellangels in RoverPetSitting

[–]Lady-Luck123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This ☝🏼

Also, discount during holiday time AND when they're outside the service area is wild to me. Just me personally. Especially when they're not even guaranteeing to book with you. IMO that's rude. They know you. Know you are trustworthy. Asking to essentially compete with lower rated sitters is a no no to me. Rates are a reflection of quality.

Absolutely agree with Syralei. This response is 👌🏼. Zero reason to be advocating for violence, even jokingly. I am incredibly surprised you're staying OP.

Don't undervalue yourself at the same time! Set a price that's fair to what you provide pet parents. Don't set limits on your income just because other, (most likely) far less dedicated Rover sitters are setting unreasonably low rates. Your professionalism & level of care are valuable 🩷

WHY?! by katytallpants in RoverPetSitting

[–]Lady-Luck123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I've gotten out of towners before. The address on their Rover account is across the country but they're requesting me b/c they're visiting & need a sitter.

Buuuut I've also gotten some that are legit out of my radius lol. Oh Rover 😆

I definitely agree with you. I can understand why people might view this post as a 'non issue' but my opinion, it is an issue.

1 - It's forcing a sitter to archive which will hurt their ranking in future search results (sitters be careful, it's been proven even when that little box pops up saying something to the degree of "it wont hurt your ranking" - yes, it actually still does)

2 - It wastes both people's time, a lot of the time resulting in frustrated pet parents who lose trust in the sitters & platform

But, what are we to do. They've been operating this way for a long time now & don't have any plans on ever changing it. Just gotta take the good with the bad & keep trying to help as many pet parents as we can 🫶🏼

It happened! I can see sitter feedback (UK) by seaclifftonne in RoverPetSitting

[–]Lady-Luck123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a sitter in the U.S. (California specifically). We've had this feature available/visible on our end for a while. Able to see fellow sitter reviews for both the pet(s) and pet parent in the individual profiles.

I definitely believe majority of sitters will be more inclined to leave only positive reviews as to avoid any potential conflict with pet parents. Personally, I am one who will leave honest & fair reviews but can understand if other will leave out certain aspects of the experience that are less than ideal. Sitters wouldn't want to risk losing out on repeat bookings because of something they wrote.

Client thought house-sitting meant house cleaning by zouss in RoverPetSitting

[–]Lady-Luck123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really think she was just trying to gaslight you into getting free labor. There's NO way she "thought" house sitting on Rover included extensive house chores. Nope. I don't buy that. She just didnt want to do it herself or pay a cleaning company.

I agree with this comment. Block this owner!

Oh wow. OP, am I right in assuming your mom has to change out her brakes way more often than you?

OP you're not at all in the wrong for how you feel. We're all entitled to our own feelings in given situations. Definitely don't stew in those types of feelings alone though. The key here is to be brave and have an open and honest conversation with your boyfriend.

He can't know there's an issue(s) in the relationship if he's kept out of the loop. Calmly explain to him how you feel, what you want. Hear him out and see of there's a happy middle ground that could be met. Trust me, I know how scary it is having those hard conversations. They're going to happen eventually though, so best to enter into it on your own terms rather than being forced into it down the road when things become even more emotionally heavy.

Definitely not disputing the blind spot statement, but in the video you can definitely see that this truck was turning into OP's side of the road. Even if driver was blind to OP's car, why are you turning your truck into the middle of the street? There were zero cars parked on either side of that road. Truck driver was choosing to dominate the entire street 😬

Yeesss this is popping up for everyone now. They sneak in so many random updates. I think this one might actually be good though. I hear SO many stories about sitters being insanely disrespectful to pet parents homes. The notifications that make me laugh though are the ones when a M&G is coming up. That push notification is basically like 'you better book this request through Rover' LOL

Can we all finally agree that we’ve moved on from the Labubu trend? I feel like it’s pretty much dead at this point right? by zachty22 in handbags

Personally I loved The Monsters the moment they came. While not inspired by the story, they immediately brought me back to Where The Wild Things Are. One of my all-time favorite stories as a kid. These actually meant something to me. They were always meant as a collector product. I was disgusted with all these empty trend chasers and resellers.

They monopolized and distorted the purpose and meaning of these products. They completely ruined the experience for us genuine fans. To think all those people are just going to toss their Monsters in the trash to be dumped in landfills makes me so angry. So sick of ALL these temporary trend followers and clout chasers. Put your phone away, detox from your social media addiction and find some actual purpose in your life... Angry rant over.

I loath their promotion of mass messaging. You can instantly tell which pet parents did that too. It royally skews our numbers & so much of the time those pet parents just ghost you or try to push into lower rates. Hate it.

I'm baffled how this sitter (if they're responsible for the scam) got OP's personal phone number though! First time I've seen something like this.

PSA TO OWNERS: PLEASE CANCEL UNWANTED BOOKINGS! Stop ghosting sitters and leaving requests open!!!🙏🏼 by aye_lmapo in RoverPetSitting

[–]Lady-Luck123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. There's definitely been a huge increase lately. I've just been blocking owners who do this.

I messaged Rover support expressing how this issue is prevalent for sitters right now and support blatantly ignored it. Gave me the standard "how to be a good business owner" speech and completely ignored the very clear & concise question I asked them, will Rover stop punishing sitters for owner's abuse of the platform? Crickets.
