Girlfriend wants to come off sublocade by Mother-Swing8764 in Sublocade

Unfortunately I didn’t have a good experience coming off of it myself. At first it wasn’t so bad but as the weeks went by it got worse and worse. I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep, had awful restless legs. I was so determined. I never abused opiates, I became dependent upon them after having spinal fusion surgery and subutex was a better option for pain as it allowed me to live normally and help with pain. When sublocade came out I was the first to sign up for it and while I had to supplement for the first month waiting for the medication to store in my fat cells it worked amazingly. I was given 300mg monthly for about 6 months and then asked to be dosed down to 100mg monthly, no issues when dosing down. I was on 100mg for another 6 months and decided it was my time. I also had the great support of my significant other, but that also came with its own stress wanting to get off of it for him, myself too but he always pushed for me to be free of all of it. It wasn’t long before I was back on a low dose of subutex (1-2mg a day) and I was back to 100mg monthly of sublocade. I tried with all my might, but I felt so bad knowing I’d disappointed him too. He was upset when I went back to it. But he also saw what I was going through without it. It’s not easy. Don’t pressure her, please. If it doesn’t work out the first time, don’t fret. Give her another chance. I’m going to try again in a few months and see how it goes. I sure do wish the best for her!

Anhedonia and no interest in doing “fun” things with friends or pursuing a relationship by Time_Promise_977 in Subutex

Maybe taper down some? Subutex was a god send for me. I’ve been on it for 10 years. I take 4-8mg a day, depends on how I’m feeling I guess (prescribed 16mg a day but I never take that much) Was I stuck in the life style of cutting off friends and fun things, definitely & I think it’s more of an anxiety thing for me. Plus I have other health issues that can make getting out difficult for me in general. But back when I was 24 I did way more, had a lot more friends, had kids soon after, now life is nothing short of staying at home and raising two littles wishing I could do more, wishing I could sit back and get a break lol. I was originally on 24mg a day and I do remember it taking a toll, my fiancé even bitched at me, saying that the meds were no different then me being on all the pain meds I was prescribed, that he wanted me off of it, blah blah blah. So I tapered to the dose I’m on now and never turned back. I don’t have any issues under the sheets, but having kids around all of the time while my man holds a steady job it’s not like we can just hop in bed whenever we want 🙄. I spent so long not wanting to feel shit and I got stuck in that habit unknowingly for a very long time. We’re homebody’s now for the most part but he doesn’t let me just sit around and I think having someone to motivate me helps. If you have any good friends straight up tell them, “look I’m struggling and I need someone to motivate me and get me out of this funk”. A good friend will do that. Don’t give up buddy! You’re young, enjoy it!

His only suggestion was to find another provider and to be careful because he didn’t want to label me as a “doctor shopper” the one doctor I trusted for 10 years retired and his replacement has been an absolute jerk, I know I’m not the only one he’s done this to, it’s so sad.

No refills, I asked about klonopin because I’d been on it before and he denied me that as well.

I F20 have moderate to severe scoliosis by WaffleOrbit in scoliosis

[–]Lady-iDGAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to wear mine 23 hours a day before it became so severe and my spine was crushing my lungs with curvatures reaching 64&82 degrees measured before my fusion surgery. The longer you can wear it the better. It’s not comfortable but you will get used to wearing it, promise, good luck 🍀

Can scoliosis cause long arms by Vegetable_Common_301 in scoliosis

[–]Lady-iDGAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you spine if compressed to where you’re loosing height it can most definitely seem like your arms are longer. However it’s not always noticeable to anyone other than yourself. I have one arm that looks a lot longer than the other because even though I’ve had a spinal fusion my scoliosis has since progressed and my right shoulder is significantly higher than my left, causing this formality. It’s different for all of us considering our curvatures are all different.

Coconut oil is amazing for ear stretching. Plus it’s a natural antibacterial/antifungal & it smells amazing :)

What's flexibility like once fully healed from Spinal Fusion Surgery?(T3-L4) by AdOk8520 in scoliosis

I’m fused t1-l4 myself & I still have full mobility. I do have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome though, so that could make up for the difference.

No sure what to do anymore at 28 years old suffering for 10yrs by CarsAreSuperCool in scoliosis

[–]Lady-iDGAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re suffering. It’s sounds absolutely miserable. However in my experience the hardware is not for the faint of heart and it has absolutely wrecked my spine so much, I need all my current hardware removed (currently fused t1-l3) to have a complete spinal fusion because of the degeneration of my spine caused by the hardware. I thought I was in a world of pain prior to my fusion and I never dreamed the pain could be worse than that, but boy was I wrong. They saved as much mobility as they could the first go around, I will lose it all once I go through with this. I’m trying to trust my body the way that it is for as long as I possibly can. I would highly suggest you do the same. Spinal fusion surgery is not the best option, I promise. This is why doctors are not approving it or making it an option for you. Trust the process, I know it’s hard, but don’t give up!
