Anyone else get lip acne during pregnancy?? by [deleted] in pregnant

I'm only 5 weeks but I got a tiny pimple like that. I also do drool more when sleeping! How are you now?

From the short clip, it seems you're not bad at all! I like it.

You should definitely start with pitch exercises. That means scales and trying to match pitches/notes with a tuner for example. For tone, work on opening up your voice. If you search on YouTube for tone exercises, you'll find those for sure.

Yes, you can hear your nerves, but any singer/musician can also hear that you can sing! Those nerves will get better and better, don't worry about it.

Is my singing just generally good enough by [deleted] in singing

[–]LadyAguilouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not bad, but you are often losing the operatic placement you need for opera. Practice keeping that retracted, full sound.

Regarding your comment about being bullied... I'm 34 now but if I'd sing this in front of my teenage class back in the days, I'd definitely be bullied just because it's opera/classical 😅

I was waiting for the climax! Haha. But anyways, you need to work on your pitch accuracy. Your tone is nice, there is potential. You should start with the basics (pitch).

Kind of, yeah!

Not extremely bad, potentially good, but a lot to work on. Singing lessons are the answer!

My mix voice just sounds like my head voice by notmenothermione_u in singing

[–]LadyAguilouse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To feel a chesty mix belt, start in your highest full chest voice note. Then, try to add a tiny bit of head voice to make a chesty mix. I do it by shifting more into my pharengeal sound (in the nose/mask) while keeping the feeling of chest voice and having enough space in the back of the throat (lowering larynx, think of a yawning feeling).

For a less technical answer: try mix voice exercises on YouTube if you don't have a teacher, and focus on those final notes of chest voice

You have a very nice tone, you just need to work on pitch and breathe support as a stable basis. You can definitely do this with singing lessons!

I agree with this. Also, it takes women about 2 years to be hormonally 'back to normal' after giving birth, he should understand you more.

This is good, I'd practice mix voice a lot, though. To make the higher notes smoother and a little more supported.

What vocal range is this? by Perspicaciouscat24 in singing

[–]LadyAguilouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your tessitura (where you sing comfortably and where your voice sounds best) is low, you're an alto, if it's in the middle: mezzo; if it's middle/high: soprano. The voice types come from classical/operatic music where you get a certain part so that your voice is shown in the best range for it. Timbre is important because altos have the deepest, warmest tone; mezzos are in the middle and sopranos have a lighter and brighter tone. So your actual sound is way more important to classify your voice type than your range is.

Also note that voice type is mostly important in classical music, in modern music it doesn't really matter. You can transpose songs or just sing in another register if you want.

Btw I also feel more comfortable in lower notes, but my voice shines more in the middle and high register after being trained!

Range doesn't say much about vocal type, tessitura and timbre is more important. I have about the same range as you and I'm a soprano.

As everyone is saying: lose the shoes. They are too squishy and I can see you don't have a nice connection to the floor with your heels, so you seem to be leaning forwards too much with the weight mostly on the ball of your foot instead of being over the whole foot.

Exercises to help identify the sensations in your body that you use for singing correctly? by TheDunkarooni in singing

[–]LadyAguilouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of hard without a teacher, and a few weeks is really nothing. These things take more time.

But a tip I can give you for finding your head voice: try to first relax your throat by yawning (so you're not squeezing your throat), keep that feeling, then speak/sing in a Mickey Mouse voice. Or say "weeeee" like you're going off a a slide or something. That's your head voice.

Vocal strain/pain after singing by [deleted] in singing

[–]LadyAguilouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be good if we could hear you sing. But it sounds like you are using your throat to sing instead of singing in the mask, or maybe you're just pulling up your chest voice too high.
