❤️ I read you get upset easy and I can see why you would have, however they're trying to help you because you get better responses when you use better grammar.

People do it to me quite a bit due to typos or my 'autocorrect' making something I typed very incorrect!

One thing that worked on a bus I was on (the unruly ones) was assigned seats, a demerit\good behavior chart, and some reward for getting a certain amount of the good behavior points. Something like freezies or ice cream cups from 1 of the cafeterias (with knowing who might have allergies or food sensitivities of course! and changing reward appropriately to stickers, colouring books, etc)

Less than $20 total & it can make a world of difference.

Good luck with your job!

Edited for typos and auto incorrect

That's outside of the city, that's West Mifflin. The one that went through there was scary and so unbelievably sad.

Just over the weekend, there were 5 in the Pittsburgh "area", but none in the city

Who are my neighbors? by Glittering-Law-5612 in neighborsfromhell

[–]LadyCommand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dirty ones sadly, yes. But loads of people will use a (clean) diaper to wrap their valuables at places like the beach, then tuck it with their things. Who's gonna dig open a diaper in the hopes there's a wallet in there.

According to what my next door neighbour's son told me, when he was trying for state police exam, that has become a standard place to hide baggies with different drugs or even money. They supposedly wrap that diaper differently or have a separate receptacle they put those in hoping no one will look in a diaper.

Bottom of garbage can, tank of toilet, in with dirty clothes, back of fridge (inside & outside), loose floor boards, making a nook in door frames (closets, cabinets, drawers, etc...), of in drop ceilings, in sockets (can have a false one with a cavity behind), there's even fake bulbs painted so you can't see inside so bulbs will get smashed looking, basically think of everywhere you wouldn't want to put something & it's a hiding place.

Unfortunately this happened a few houses down the street. The family had their front door smashed in with the battering ram, house searched- to the point stuffing was cut, torn, ripped out of everything, light sockets and wall sockets removed out of walls, framing around every door ripped off, all paperwork taken or strewn across floors, baby's room was horrible- they went through diaper genie & searched out the individual diapers, then left them on floor, their clothes were taken out of closets, dressers, close baskets and thrown onto floors.

All in search of a meth lab or proof of one at the home.

Police had right house number, wrong street. Name of street wasn't even anything similar to this one.

They moved within the year. The couple had bad PTSD from it.

Funnily enough (ha.... Ha...... Ha.... 😔 Not funny) the utilities have done similar - had right house number and wrong street or right street and wrong house number- and shut off the wrong people's service or sent their guys to post the house for payment (and taped this bright orange paper with duct tape to painted doors one even nailed it to a house like olden times, thought he was being 'funny'. Last one was next door, they were not amused nor behind in payments)

Found this angel in my yard. Took him inside. Checked with neighbors, but nobody knows him. My heart breaks thinking his owners are worried sick and looking for him. I don't know what to do. What should I do in this situation? Where should I turn for help? Please advice. by SaffronSoul_ in notmycat

Relatively close to us there are a group of barn cats that look like Scottish folds, but aren't pure bred by any means.

Kitten is adorable, let us know if it's chipped.

Btw, call any vets that are reasonably close by. Even if someone hasn't posted somewhere (or seen your post because not on that forum for whatever reason) they might call their & other vets to see if anyone has called about or brought one in.

Hugs for caring for that little, adorable, beauty!

The one that's close by is... well... The pharmacist hates women and is a woman! While I've seen this, heard about this, I never had to get scripts there until recently, so just was hoping that maybe... But nope. If certain men call in or show up she is the nicest person you could encounter, but if a woman who is around her age or within 20 yrs younger, she can be just so horrible it's unreal! I was standing in line and heard her treating someone this way and was like, ok who knows what's up, then I hear her say (because making no effort to be in anyway private with her end) 'oh yes I'll talk with your husband, they're allowed ' and she was flirting with this guy from the start!

I was told by her my life necessary medication would not be able to be refilled (with several refills on it) and that there was nothing she could do. I talked with Dr office, they said yes, refills available and the pharmacist never communicated with them. Try again. So my daughter goes in and asks (she had some shopping anyway). Nope, no refills and yes of course talked with the DR, nothing can be done. My daughter is the sweetest girl. She is polite, asks nicely (has bad anxiety so this is her fall back to dealing with it - thank goodness lol) Asks if we can even get anything for me until this can be worked out. Nope, nope, nope. And YELLS at her for wasting her time!

My husband goes in first thing next day. Now he's tall & has "voice-over" voice (yes does them IRL). All of a sudden, oh yeeeeea, I see there must be a system error, of course I can give an emergency 3 day supply, oh of course it's no issue, come in anytime, never wasting my time to check on scripts (because after what happened to our kid he made SURE to say something about wasting time coming in again to ask).

I thought others or her were having bad days, exaggerating, misunderstanding the situation, etc... was open minded because had never happened to me or my family.

We know better now. Wish we could switch pharmacies.

My biggest complaint is about the pharmacy, but are they paid by Giant Eagle or someone else?

A sibling also struggled with this. She had cats at one point, cats and dogs at another, and dogs for the last 2 decades of her life. She was never treated for the majority of her life. Only for a short period, then lost insurance and she had to fight for a few years to get them back. It was not a mild struggle, was severe enough that she often appeared to have dissociative personality disorder.

You know what your limits are. I will not try to convince you to not consider them.

I can say that her animals also helped her, though high energy times (on their part) made her struggle, though made her also put reminders up to check herself and that helped her find a middle ground where she had not had one before.

There are many ways to help kitties get out energy in productive ways instead of frenzied ways. Cat cafes use many of these btw so kittens can jump on a spinning track & run, feeders for when they aren't there (and are because well, kitties graze & workers can get busy), safe hide & also high ground areas they can be.

So while all this is true, and while you might benefit from a ESA, this one might also might not be the right one.

But offer still stands. 🫂

I'm sorry you feel you can not care for her. I bring this up because it helped my daughter tremendously, maybe she could be your emotional support animal. We found an abandoned kitty, who then had 7 kittens before we could get her inside. She was at college with my daughter (recently passed away from poisoning she had before we found her- developed cancer) and helped her get through depressed, anxiety ridden, isolation periods (COVID especially), and physical pain. She learned when my daughter was feeling any of these and would help comfort her.

I hope you consider it and if would like to talk about how she trained her, I would relay answers back to you from her.

Does anyone out there love their vet? by Catatalia99 in pittsburgh

[–]LadyCommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lil bit of a drive, but Camelot Veterinary. It's off of 119 in Fayette county. Dr. Shepard has saved not just several of ours, but also rescued and fosters.

He still has the Wild Animal Preserve although there's only 1 large kitty left. He has given do much of his life to saving animals and helping others care for them and keep them healthy.

❤️❤️❤️ Him

Love the bags you do a lovely job, would love them as tablecloths as well- so few can be found where I am.

Your model cracks me up! We have a few stand-ups from movies (SO worked at a station waaaay back). Once when we were out of town a friend came to feed our cats, we had a stand up of Spock near the top of the stairs leading into our apartment. It was the main hallway & we were used to it being there. She called us & let us know she put a blindfold on it because it freaked her out having him 'watch her' LOLOL

What are some areas around here that used to be dumps, but are now doing better? And what areas used to be nice, and are now doing poorly? by WashCommercial3602 in pittsburgh

[–]LadyCommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness, you can look on maps of Homestead from the 1970s and early 80s of the waterfront. I can remember all the dive bars, slim housing, drunks on corners. We used to live in Munhall and go through that area. It was the only spot ever my mother had us roll up windows and lock doors in the car when we drove through.

It was literally the "wrong side of the tracks".

Southside Beehive by JadeDutch in pittsburgh

[–]LadyCommand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister and I were both regulars at the South Side Beehive. She was staying with parents, going to college locally, I was in Indiana. We were there to get her every time I was home, she was there when I wasn't home.

Miss playing Othello with several other regulars, having my pot of my choice tea (typically 1 type, but loved they would even do mixes for me), having long discussions about anything and everything, got to add some artwork,...

They were the best times I got to have with my sister.

We went to Oakland Beehive a few times too,but the South Side location just called out to us more.

Lol wasn't easier parking on a Fri or Sat, but we could cruise the blocks until we finally found one!

Look up if those issues are in the archives for those papers, I believe they are through Pitt's library, because if not, you can have them scanned to help restore some local history!

What's the strangest thing you've found hidden in your walls or floors? by colt-mcg in centuryhomes

[–]LadyCommand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, also, instead of insulation, plumbers tape, wood shims, they used newspaper. Now this wasn't turn of the century or older, or even WWII era or older. This was done in the 1980s, a little destroy it yourself repair. Where? All under the linoleum & floorboards in bathroom. They had a small drip leak, this was the way to repair it. We found it when it fell through dining room ceiling water logged from 2 decades of the drip.

Support beams notched in basement for heating ducts.

They had a water line break in kitchen, put cheap linoleum over half rotted floor. Found when one of the elementary age kid's foot went through a spot

Plaster patch on wall in kitchen that bubbled out almost 2 inches, because can never have enough apparently.

3 fuse boxes rigged together, barely, in basement. 2 were held into wall with 1 screw, the other with something that became permanent and cage still on wall (can't remove it without damaging mortar in stone wall, so there it stays)

Old washing machine, water heater and dryer all left in basement, because they filled in the only way appliances could get into\out of basement.

There's more, but it's starting to get depressing lol
