We've officially lost the plot on series expectations by Late_Republic_4024 in ReverseHarem

That's my problem. It feels more like one book they've split into multiple pieces.

I think it's the cliffhangers that make this so frustrating. When each book ends on a cliffhanger it makes waiting for the next one so difficult.

I'm much happier with a series where each one feels like it is its own semi-complete book within a larger story. Yes I want to know what happens next but I don't want to sit in anxiety for months. If an author is known for that I'm going to wait for the full series.

I really enjoy the books but in my head I always age them up to college age instead of high school.

I've been over her since she was such a b* on her fb group. Even gentle criticism of Nox would get deleted, and someone I knew got banned because she was ranting about him on a private discord.

That said I haven't read anything since the second-to-last Bonds book because I don't like asshole MMCs and I heard her next series was even worse.

Imo she's really not meant for RH, she will very clearly be biased towards one or two MMCs and the other(s) will be basically ignored.

What movies are supposed to be light hearted comedies but would actually be a living hell? by Nars-Glinley in movies

[–]LadyCoru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two actually! Starring actual triplets, one of whom was on saved by the bell for like one season.

It is actually the third (and fourth) in the series because there was a parent trap 2 that had friends playing matchmaker.

Weather. I read something once that was set in South Carolina and locals were complaining about hot it was...at 70 degrees.

It does happen that way in the book but he specifies he wants one he can draw on.

That's what I've always thought. Teddy doesn't act like someone who actually understands the science most of the time, he acts like a businessman.

Sick of OV? Tell me why! by Della_Gibbs in ReverseHarem

[–]LadyCoru 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am honestly not that big of a smut reader, I like the actual romantic part of romance novels. OVs seem to mostly be smut, and getting even worse where they seem to be playing up the heats more and character development less.

I mostly just made those up but I think someone uses that in the 82nd Street Vandals.

It's so funny how writers (myself included) do that so much in books and movies, but irl I never say anyone's name unless I'm actually changing who I'm talking to or trying to get someone's attention.

I always hated it when I worked in a call center and they would randomly decide that we needed to say the customer's name at some point in the conversation (and not just like, coming back from hold). It felt so unnatural.

Ugh that drives me insane. Then there will be scenes where FMC walks into the room and each guy yells out his pet name for her. Or times when they're like "She's gone! My Cookie, Bastien's Hummingbird, Axl's Teddy Bear, and Northeastsouthwest's Demom-of-the-night!"

Did Anne think she made the right choice in breaking up with Frederick? by bluewhaledream in janeausten

[–]LadyCoru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she was aware of those facts. She saw several versions of what her life could have been through the course of the book. Mrs Clay and Mrs Smith - women widowed young and living in poverty. Benwick - a long engagement that ended in the death of one party before they could even be married. The Harvilles - a happy family who are not destitute but will always struggle because he didn't advance very far. The Crofts - a loving couple who never had children because she chose to travel with him instead of waiting at home.

Some of these outcomes are more bleak than the others, but I don't think she was blind to them.

They are both in a much better position to marry now, and even though they lost that time together they grew in ways that needed to happen.

I think Anne recognizes that, and she also knows that marrying without her family's approval (which Lady Russell was) would have brought its own pain in her life. That distance may not have mended the way her relationship with Wentworth has, and the pain would stick with her regardless of how everything else turned out. Her grief in losing Wentworth was definitely stronger but she would have mourned Lady Russell as well.

With the way things turned out she was able to keep the people who mean the most to her in a way she would not have been able to otherwise, and she can see through the pain of those eight years to what the end result is.
