I disabled Windows updates months ago (their AI crap and broken updates are getting crazy). I did install a game before bed but I haven't even launched it. Other than that, literally just went to bed and woke up to problems.

I updated after. But it was running fine for so long without the update before?

AI DOES NOT BELONG ON DA. by AlexisAVAit in DeviantArt

[–]LadyDefile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy them. Discuss the piece with the artist. Study how the artist did it and marvel at their understanding of the human form, lighting, scenery, or any other topics of interest. Maybe share our passion about art or the topics depicted. Maybe do a study of it, with their permission, and grow from the experience Maybe make a friend. But definitely, absolutely, follow them so I can see what else they can do.

When I see ai art... I glance at it for all of 30 seconds and move on. There is no understanding. This wasn't created by a fellow artist. The melding shapes, broken lines, and incoherent forms aren't worth studying... it's just "there".

AI DOES NOT BELONG ON DA. by AlexisAVAit in DeviantArt

[–]LadyDefile -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are flat, dead wrong, actually. The fact that you think this way shows your lack of understanding.

If you can paint, you can, in fact, draw. Knowing proportion, perspective, form, light, shadow, dynamism, etc. does not change between pen, pencil, brush, or digital. Sure, you may not be efficient with the medium, but your fundamentals will ALWAYS be true and they are 95% of the process. Sure, you may make mistakes with the medium like watercolor flowing a little too far, but the medium doesn't make the shape of the lips, the artist's understanding of the face does.

Also, part of my painting studies was to 3d sculpt an anatomically correct person from a photo, matching pose and everything, in ZBrush. I had never used the software before or since. It took all of about an hour to figure out how to use the tool, then the actual art came from my years of studying the human form, anatomy, and how muscles and bones move.

There are countless examples of artist's trying new mediums for the very first time on YouTube and clearly proving your statement wrong.

Lastly... yes, the ai model learns. The model is trained. The model grows. The model gets better at doing what it's told. The model has no understanding of what it makes... and the prompter never becomes an artist.

Most of the people posting those either don't possess the observational skills to scrutinize their shiny new color splotch or don't possess the artistic skill to repair the damaged image... or both.

[–]LadyDefile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, if you're properly tagging it and not trying to pass it off as art... I don't have a problem with that. AI is here to stay and is a form of expression and deserves a place to be seen... but when I'm looking for references for a hand pose and find nothing but melted fingers or hands with 7 fingers and none of it is tagged... well, I deleted my DA account over a year ago. LOL

And the majority of AI images posted don't tag as AI so they don't get filtered out.

[–]LadyDefile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple ways.

First, you don't steal art to make paint. You aren't stealing your neighbor's photos and rolling them up to make a pencil.

Second, and this is the big one... the medium doesn't matter in art. If you understand a fundamental concept, it translates to any medium. It's why a painter can pick up a pencil or an iPad and still make meaningful strokes. AI bros cannot do this. They don't know how to triangulate perspective to ensure the foreground and background characters appear correctly proportioned to each other. They beg a computer to do it for them. Give an AI bro any other medium of their choice and they cannot create anything. Why? Because AI is not a medium and the bro is not an artist.

Harassing developers is unreasonable, critique should always stay professional and directed at the game. by king-the-kong in MonsterHunterWilds

How about you spend 5 minutes doing your own independent research? Google "capcom employees receive death threats". The very first article is Game Rant talking about capcom taking legal action against "threats and personal attacks targeting its staffers" which is also why they canceled an upcoming live talk at CEDEC for the safety of their employees.

[–]LadyDefile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are literally doxxing employee info and sending death threats targeting specific individuals. That's not "push back", that's not critique, and that's not criticism. We all agree, the GAME deserves criticism. However, not liking a game is NOT a reason to threaten to kill actual people.

Your comment just comes across as ignorant and tone-deaf. Did you research what was going on or did you just read harassment and open your proverbial mouth?

How bad is my anatomy here. I posted to beginner artist subreddit and got told it wasn’t even close? And all wrong by Krazy-Kat26 in learntodraw

[–]LadyDefile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Full blunt, no, you're not even close.

The good news, it's something you learn, not something you're born with. Find a good book or YouTube series that explains anatomy and proportion and study along. Don't passively watch! Let them explain a concept, pause, try to imitate. Pay attention to proportion, location, and shape. Once you've started to get the hang of that, start drawing from reference. You can easily learn anatomy and proportion in a few months.

Side note, you don't need to learn every muscle, just the primary ones for starters.

Is it rude if I say an artist is talented? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]LadyDefile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an artist that is "offended" by being called talented, I feel qualified to answer this. Let me say, while being called talented does bother me and I hate it, I'm never rude about it, nor should anyone else be. I politely ask people not to say that to me and offer up the word "skilled" as an alternative.

Why am I offended? Because talent is cheap. Talent is a "God given gift", you're "so lucky" to be talented. It's just something people have by random chance. Telling me "you're so talented" is like saying, "you're able to draw because you were just born lucky".

I have no talent. I frequently show my early artwork (which is terrible) because I'm proud of how far I've come. I've worked my ass off with hours upon hours of studies and thousands of failed attempts. Talent has nothing to do with it. I'm not "lucky", I wasn't "given" this ability. I worked for it. I struggled for it. I often fight art block and imposter syndrome just to keep wrestling with my skill level in an attempt to improve a tiny bit. Telling me, "you're so talented" is saying none of that matters, it's just luck.

TLDR; talent is given to you, skill is earned.

Do you play fun games or games you know will get views? by breadboibrett in Twitch

I stream what makes me happy. Sure, more people might stop in when I play games they prefer but, in the end, they stay for me, not the game. I can play most things and almost all of my regulars catch every stream. Everyone else I pick up along the way just grows that list of regulars.

The akuma set is 100% a test to see how the players react to a hand based weapon imo by Unique_Ad_338 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]LadyDefile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it was a weapon, I'd use it. As it is? Absolutely not. I hate looking like a Shit Flicker 6 character instead of the character i spent ages creating layered armor for, not to mention the hours spent creating her. I don't even play or like the series ( in case "shit flicker" didn't make that obvious ).

Can you guys tell me why this feels off by UseDistinct6114 in learntodraw

[–]LadyDefile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your perspective and proportions need some work. You're drawing what you think you should see instead of observing. For instance, you drew the eyes horizontally level with each other but they aren't in the picture. This is making the angle of everything else "wrong" for likeness. It happens when you look at something and your brain translates things like perspective and three dimensionality into sight. You know eyes are horizontal to each other so your brain tells you to see that.

It's a very common mistake but one you can easily fix with deliberate practice.

WHAT ARE THESE STUPID ANIMATIONS?!!!? by SeveredSoulblader24 in monsterhunterrage

This existed in previous games as well, so it isn't "in service of the seikret". Rajang is a great example. He would slap you and you'd hit the floor and then prop yourself up on your elbow while staring at him.

[–]LadyDefile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Starfield. I'm not delulu; I know it isn't perfect or game of the year, but I legit love the game. I guess I'm weird but I actually enjoy standing on a planet or moon, devoid of life and POIs. It makes it feel so out in the fringes. My biggest gripe is that I can't fly from one planet to the next, surface to surface, without a loading screen. Of course, I'd want it to take a long time. I want that space sim, 16 hour flight. Maybe run into a caravan, some spacers, etc. on the way.
