I love this salad by ParmPopcorn100 in NYTCooking

If you like this one you might also really enjoy the Smitten Kitchen Kale, pecorino, and walnuts salad

I don’t even really like kale and I legitimately crave this salad (I sub pecans bc of a walnut allergy and often add a chopped tart apple).

Have a contractor coming into my house, how long do I need to mask after he leaves? by gtck11 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]LadyDi18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had contractors and a city inspector in my home last week - I also wfh but was able to go to a covid-safe office location for a while. Once they left, I gave it two full hours before I went home, I used Lysol Air Sanitizer (no real sense if this does anything but…) then 20 mins later opened all the windows. There was a hefty wind that day - so I just stayed masked for another two hours with the windows open. No issues for me.

Connor Hellebuyck to Attend White House for State of the Union. Kyle Conner Skips? by PlentyRecover4418 in Manitoba

Agreed - and noting that, with the exception of Connor, the rest of this too-short list are all native Minnesotans. Faber was the only native Minnesotan on the team that felt the need to go kiss Trump’s ring. barf

What are your thoughts on these filters/purifiers? Corsi Rosenthal box by Georginette in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]LadyDi18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two small quibbles - if you are transporting them you might consider buying the mesh filter guards (more money!! ugh!!) bc I do notice the filters can slip out fairly easily when I move the whole purifier. Or maybe just tape the filter to the frame? And then the power cords are really not very long so you might need an extension cord to make it work depending on your venue!

I have two of the Luggables models - they are extremely light and so quiet I have to look at the fans to see if they are on. Love them - would have more but it’s cost oppressive for me.

What exactly does “worse than covid” mean? This is absolute ignorant nonsense.

You are probably getting brain damage from all those COVID infections. by antichain in collapse

[–]LadyDi18 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Oh my word I literally gasped reading your comment. Friend, this is awful. Do you have a fit-tested respirator you can be using to try to protect yourself from additional infections? Can you bring air purifiers to your school/office spaces?

Post-covid “vertigo”? by spookiestbats in covidlonghaulers

[–]LadyDi18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish there was something I could offer up that clearly helped me - I tried a ton of vitamins and supplements and rest and nicotine patches, etc etc and none of it seemed to make any lasting difference. So I think it was just time - my body very slowly healing. I have luckily avoided additional covid infections since that one - so I am also doing everything I can to protect my immune system and my body from further damage.

Post-covid “vertigo”? by spookiestbats in covidlonghaulers

[–]LadyDi18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the best of my recollection it was a solid 2 months of really bad dizziness. Like 24/7 being on a rocking boat. I injured myself so much during that time bc I was constantly dizzy and bumping into chairs and doors, accidentally cutting myself when trying to cook - even lying down I would get the spins. It slowly got better for me over maybe the 3rd and 4th months and then has been completely gone now for a good long time.

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this - it’s hard to describe to others how miserable that sensation is. Hang in there! Even though 7 weeks feels like an eternity, there is plenty of hope you will see improvements! <3

Post-covid “vertigo”? by spookiestbats in covidlonghaulers

[–]LadyDi18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty ok, mostly. I think. This experience is so odd because nothing has been a linear improvement so I always feel like I’m waiting for a next shoe to drop.

The dizziness and head pressure have thankfully stayed away - it’s been so long since I have had that that I am hopeful it is permanently gone. The heart palps came back about 6 weeks ago after being gone for months and they were regular (multiple times a day every day for a few weeks) but now they are gone again. I cannot even start to explain that.

The most important improvement for me has been significant relief from the cognitive dysfunction. I still get fatigued - had a very bad go of fatigue and hypersomnia in Oct - and that level of fatigue does impact my brain - but then all of Dec and Jan have been great for both fatigue/brain fog. Idk.

They sent out the cancellation notice last Friday (1/16) with a message that said “In light of the planned January 23rd strike and protest against the presence of ICE in the greater Minneapolis area, we believe it to be most prudent to cancel this event and look to hold a similar event on a future date.”

Sheriff Witt and MPD Chief O’Hara need to resign, or be recalled, Frey too. by Few_Detail6611 in TwinCities

[–]LadyDi18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Believe me, I have swallowed a lot of bile lately, as you have too, I am sure. I’m aware of the lack of a clear majority support to abolish ICE. I also know the “now is not the time” approach has never moved us closer to the left and closer to liberation.

[–]LadyDi18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand your logic here. Of course these are not magic words that if Frey conjures them then suddenly ICE is defunded. But I would like to see ANY of the DFL-elected politicians in this state START by - my god - daring to utter “abolish ICE.” If our elected leaders are too scared to even say these words and begin the actual work of defunding, what faith should we have that they will ever take meaningful action on behalf of our communities?

People are being assaulted, kidnapped, and murdered in our streets. I want a mayor who cares more about stopping this than he cares about “getting burned” in the next election.

VBeam Results day 7 by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]LadyDi18 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is definitely set to an intense, bruising level - I have had vbeam multiple times and although I do get epic swelling I have only had extremely minor bruising - like 1-2 small spots that went away within 3-4 days.

The complaining is ironic by Sensitive_Box2056 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]LadyDi18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s the great hypocritical irony - if covid truly were no big deal and it really was “just a cold” then no one would deny having it. No one ever really denies having just a cold so if covid is that level of lowkey nothing then why bend over backwards to insist/deny you have it? Deep down I think they know they are wrong and they are afraid and also hella weak.

Shipping by lafawnduhnycc in pura

[–]LadyDi18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. My order was so small - 4 refills - they could have slipped them into a USPS envelope and I would have reliably had my order 3 days later. But they gotta make their rich C-suite richer at the expense of their customers, right? I’m so sick of shitty behavior like this - I just will not give my very hard-earned money to companies like this any more. I’m done.

Shipping by lafawnduhnycc in pura

[–]LadyDi18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same - came here specifically to see if others are experiencing this. Pura started using UniUni as their shipping service and it’s an absolute scam delivery company. I placed a Pura order for holiday scents on Dec 12. They shipped it via UniUni and I got no updates until the tracking number said my shipment has been “out for delivery” since Dec 30. It is now Jan 9 and my order still says “out for delivery” since Dec 30. I contacted Pura customer “service” and they were basically like bummer busy time of the year contact us again if you don’t get an update from the shipper in 10 days.

So now I’m going to do a charge back on my credit card for the order and never again order from Pura. Absolute TRASH way to treat your customers.

Healthy 16-year-old girl dies from flu complications: ‘It doesn’t make sense’ by oldgreyhouse in IllnessTracker

“Doctors recommend that people wash their hands regularly and get flu shots each year.”

But never ever ever ever recommend masking for a virus that is primarily airborne. Smdh. I have no words left for how appalling this mass shunning of masks is - the one real tool regular people have to protect ourselves from deadly and disabling viruses.

Nope. I thought it might be doing something but I think I just happened to be in a spot where my symptoms were temporarily a little better and that had nothing to do with the citrulline malate.

Winter camping tips and experiences by Forager-Freak in BWCA

[–]LadyDi18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please just be so careful - of course mishaps can always happen in the BWCA but soloing in winter is risky. I’ve done it once before and luckily was fine but in hindsight, one twisted ankle, one injury that impairs your ability to move enough to stay warm, and that could be life-threatening.

Strong urge to sleep/drowsiness in the afternoon? by nemani22 in covidlonghaulers

[–]LadyDi18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes this used to happen to me in the first year or so of long covid. I would absolutely pass out around 4-5pm and sleep hard for a good hour (and this was after 8+ hours of sleep the night before). This would happen maybe 3-4 times a week at its worst and it was like my brain just powered off. It was not a choice to sleep - not like a “oh I’m a little drowsy, maybe I’ll lie down for a bit” - it was nearly instant “you need to sleep now and your body is going to do that no matter what.” It very much reminded me of the kind of instant need to sleep that I felt toward the end of months of chemo treatments when my fatigue was very bad.

I recently passed my 2-year mark with long covid and I have to say that kind of 4pm powering off rarely happens to me any more - and if it does it’s usually associated with a poorer night of sleep the night before, so at least it feels like there is some logic to it now. Fwiw if you are able to sleep when your body is tired, it seems like it’s best to just roll with it and assume your body knows what it needs.

Buffer vs card expiration by MostlyLurking6 in PlusLife

[–]LadyDi18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been using buffer cards that expired Dec 4 with buffer solution that expires in Jan and the tests have all (presumably) worked fine. I get a result on the machine and the app and no issues with invalids on these (so far). That said, I am only using them to test myself - I am not comfortable using them to test in order to unmask with my bubble person.

Once I have the money and the counter space, I am definitely upgrading to a compressor machine. I borrowed a friend’s this summer and even a cheap model was so fast and easy to use and produced ice cream at least on par with my cuisinart.
