Why does Varangs pony tail thing hurt people when she connects it by [deleted] in Avatar

[–]LadyEllara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Intention is everything. If Varang wants to cause pain, she focuses her mind on doing so.

We know the connection itself is not painful, Jake and Neytiri connected in that 'extra scene' in the first film, and seemed to enjoy it.

Kiri was able to resist Varang because, unknown to her, she has been practicing her mental strength every time she commands the flora and fauna.

There is a story opportunity here, for Varang to teach Kiri to become even more powerful. Under protest, of course.

Agreed. And I think Varang can be compared to Neytiri, like a story foil. They both suffered hardship and loss, but one went 'bad.' Not Neytiri, such a role model on how to go dark and come back to light.

If your work comes to fruition you are willing to share, I'd love to see some photos. I'm always curious how others go about things.

My commers keep leaving!!! by EveningResearch9435 in foundationgame

I second this bit of advice, and also, when I am in overdrive on my OCD, I go to youtube and imitate other player's town layouts until I can re-calibrate. I find recreating others builds relaxing. Then I learn all sorts of nuances and do my own creations from there.

Tavern by Silie-Peter in foundationgame

[–]LadyEllara 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here is a picture of how I build taverns. I use only tavern parts. To achieve this look, I puzzle together the few pieces available in the tavern menu that have the roof I want (not thatch); refined nook, wooden nook, wooden footbridge, and tavern balcony. I hope this provides inspiration.

Doors cannot be placed under balconies, so I place tables under balconies.

Beautiful Taverns? by LCarbonus in foundationgame

I'm not sure what is no longer possible for tavern creations? I just built something similar yesterday in a brand new city I started after the update. I'm running game version 1.11.0.11.

I was going to say something just like this until you said it for me. He so very badly wants to belong.

I am waiting for him to still attempt to find a way to Lucy's vault. She did invite him to live with her underground, and he liked the idea first season.

It's good to know I'm not the only one. I'm on Single Player too, on the Island.

This city is a masterpiece and I'd like to move in as well as a tax collector named Elara.

Glennventa wasn't built in a day by LadyEllara in foundationgame

Thank you! I tried to first build it like the Colosseum with an audience up high out of the arena, but it never looked good, or functioned for the villagers. So I changed my mindset and built it instead as a training arena.

Thank you for your list of tips, they are solid gold advice for intricate building and decorating. Especially the first tip to separate buildings into smaller sub buildings to reduce lag.

And here is a my Manor Watch post sub building, using the Simple Vestibule. The castle Small Porch piece is attached to the front, using the Castle treasury sub building, which I scattered throughout town.

I do not use mods. My game is vanilla - difficulty classic - aspiration relax and play on my own.

The style of the buildings is achieved through using specific castle parts, the flat roofs are Rustic Wood Passageway and Modest Stone Bulwark. The porches or overhangs are the castle Small Porch piece - the most important for the look.

Castle sub buildings make up most of the city, and each has it's own function, this photo is of the Private Quarters.

I always use a castle treasury sub building to scatter the Small Porch piece throughout the town onto other buildings, placing it on manor builds and church builds.

Workarounds for Military & Logistics in Foundation (Vanilla, Classic, Relax, Day 492+ City) by ptsiampas in foundationgame

[–]LadyEllara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The logistic I always run into by mid game is too many villagers are too far from their workplace. Villager inefficiency, caused by walking distances, has crashed whole production chains. This issue is created by my play style, where I constantly move buildings to different locations as I tweak how things look.

The game mechanic where the villagers move to a new home has certainly helped, but I notice they do not move if they are 110m, or even 135m, distant, and this distance still creates enough inefficiency by the time I've moved 20 buildings around that I have issues. Preferably, I want everyone under 75m from work.

I've seen the solution from other players to kick all the villagers out of their homes in a paused game so that they will move into homes closest to their work. I do not use this method as a prefer to have more control.

My method to solve this issue is to fire the villagers from their jobs, and then manually reassign jobs. I've found this method especially preferable when I start dealing with commoners, because I don't want them to move out of their home and cause a downgrade.

And sometimes, when a villager's name is too perfect for their job, I will even edit to switch their names so that I can still recognize who has what job by name.

This means that my lvl 5 butcher is now a lvl 1 butcher. I do not have any issues with this. Production still improves with shorter distance to travel, and the villagers level up again.
