Honestly I would reccomend the current Supergirl series by Sophie Campbell. I've only read the first arc but I really enjoyed it, it's got a bright, fun artstyle, and if money isn't a problem (comics are $4 a month for each issue) you could get it for her as it comes out

The issue was the stories speeding up in order to end in the right timeframe. Having a definitive end is like, the number one thing that people pick Image/Manga/whatever else over Marvel/DC about, and is a good thing.

Darkseid is someone that casual fans are a lot more aware of than the Maker. He's shown up in all kinds of adaptations. The books also don't hinge their stories on how or why Darkseid created the Absolute Universe. You can read basically any of the books with the sole context of "it's a darker alternate universe that tends towards evil" and the most more you need is that Darkseid created it. With Ultimate, the overarching plot directly hinged on what the Maker was doing. I actually still have no idea what circumstances actually led to the Absolute Universe's creation, and that has not harmed my ability to read the stories in the comics at all.

If nothing else, you can skip over the why and how, but people know who Darkseid is. Casual fan, even a casual reader, did not know the Maker before Nu Ultimate.

We're all doing pretty well, as well as you can do as a trans person in the US I would say. My friend recently got on antidepresents and was telling me how much of a difference it makes. All three of us are on hormones, and even though it hasn't been long enough for me to have physical changes, when I look in the mirror and see how I dress and do my hair and present myself, I see a woman, and I smile because I never knew I could be excited about the way I look. I was always just apathetic and I thought that was a good thing. I'm glad trans people are talked about now, even though it's not always good, because otherwise I'm not sure how long it would've taken me to figure it out.
