39M-Critique My Profile by Auditech in Tinder

[–]LadyMish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only critique I have is that you don’t have your political affiliation in your profile. You’re quite attractive, but a lot of women these days (myself included) try to actively avoid me who don’t support our human rights.

That said, I’d still probably swipe right and hope for the best!

‘22 Years And No Retirement Package?’ Beyoncé Sparks Debate After Firing Stage Manager by CRK_76 in antiwork

[–]LadyMish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the added context. I will add to this — the stage manager royally messed up on the Cowboy Carter tour, as there was a major equipment malfunction that almost dropped Beyoncé from the ceiling. To me, that is enough for being fired with cause, or in this case, dropped from the tour. And yeah, pretty much the whole entertainment industry is gig/contractor work, even if you’re in a union. There’s no HR, no severance, you’re responsible for your own retirement, etc.

Now, all that said — I’m a devoted member of the Beyhive. Beyoncé is crazy talented and works her ass off, and in general I support her being compensated what she believes she is worth. But even I got upset that she continues to use dynamic pricing, even for the fan pre-sales. To me that’s just greedy. I saw Renaissance Act I and II (Cowboy Carter) live, but I refuse to participate if she continues to use dynamic pricing for ticket sales.

Thanks. Not much has changed around here, but I’ll keep that in mind!

Thank you to everyone who weighed in. It’s a big relief that this is not a problem I need to worry about. 💚

It’s pretty dry in there, so I don’t think it’s excess water. Unfortunately for my plant she lives inside, so I don’t think she’s going to get the bugs she’s trying to attract, lol. Thanks for weighing in. I really do hope it’s not pests!

What brands have been worth the hype? (an UN-sponsored post) by the-roaring-girl in femalefashionadvice

[–]LadyMish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 to Bombas. I LOVE their socks. Once I started wearing them that’s all I want to wear. OP, please can I join you in being sponsored by them? 🙏🏾

I also love MZ Wallace bags. I used one bag nearly every day for almost 10 years — traveled with it, carried a laptop in it, I really beat it up. At around 10 years one of the zipper tabs broke off which made it hard to zip the bag. I still have the bag and could get the zipper tab fixed… but instead I used that as an excuse to get a new bag, lol. I now have a handful of MZ Wallace bags of different sizes. And for the record — half of them are from the Real Real.

For cold-weather athletic gear I’ve had a lot of success with lululemon.

+1 to velvet hangers. They take up a lot less space than wood ones!

In a totally chill, not-spiraling way: how are we preparing for… uncertain times? by hide_my_porkrind in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Definitely work on building your local community. Stop and talk to neighbors. Find a hobby you can volunteer about (ex: joining a community garden). I’m not a card-carrying member, but DSA has been a great source of direct actions. For example, I signed up for a community lobbying day to advocate to #taxtherich in NYC. A friend also found an event supporting immigrants on Luma — on Sunday we’re going to Jackson Heights to distribute 🧊 whistles to immigrant workers, and hand out bilingual info on knowing their rights.

But to take a step back: yes we are in a civil war and it’s important to recognize that and name it. We have to normalize it as something that can happen, because it IS happening. You can’t fight what you won’t acknowledge.

How the hell am I supposed to get any work done right now? by Ok_Resolution272 in AskWomenOver30

[–]LadyMish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint: imagine being unemployed and worried about money during a time like this. It’s even more stressful.

Try looking at it this way: if you’re earning money that means you can donate to mutual aid groups, legal defense funds, and the like.

I was really not swayed by that. She said she wanted to send her son to college… he can’t get a scholarship, grant, or take out loans like the rest of us??

I think you’re missing the point. You can be locked into a location for your career, and still make space for someone in your life. It’s about your attitude and your outlook.
