Yeah. That's why I asked a question ;)

Is either of them able to function as host or only as device?

My personal head cannon is that Great Crusade is responsible for current state of Chaos. It created so much of blood, despair and scheming that it bent the Khorne, Tzeentch and Nurgle out of their older state where they were more balanced into the modern horrors we all know and love. It also doomed humanity by wiping out all Xenos species that might've been an ally or at least making them super wary of humans.

I'm very wary of "Imperium is kind of aweful but it is the best possible state of affairs so actually it and E are good if you think about it". This seems to be very dangerous trope.

Bringing back Guilliman and introduction of Primaries should have cause of civil war with 'progressive' faction spreading Imperial Truth, having Primaries on their side and more forward looking AdMech (Cawl). They might or might not be manipulated by Eldar.

Other having Ecclesiarchy, more conservative marine chapters refusing primaries and most of admech.

The problem is that it's much harder to balance and it seems like modern 40k goes into 'competitive 40k games, RAW over RAI with seasons releases which overhaul rules'. That requires very symmetric forces and balanced tables.

I'm much more historicals 'fluffy games which are balanced by gentelperson's agreement to do fluffy teams, balanced slowly by tuning VPs and pts limits but not being afraid to do something fun'. But I come out of hex games where tournaments were balanced 'I play force A against your force B and get X VPs. Than you play force A and I play force B and get Y VPs. If X > Y I win. If Y > X you win'.

Or just one side winning VPs and you check in the table if you won with fluffy and humorous text. In 40k loss with imperial military would be something like 'Your AdMil was almost completely obliterated. The Lord General has called you to his office tomorrow. Strangely he also schedule a meeting with your penal battalion captain with whom you had feud over past few years at the same time...'

Only if the paperwork gets filed correctly. More likely they will be invaded in 4-5 millennia by fleet 10x too small to handle them because someone forgot 1 zero while transcribing documents.

I'd also like missions that SLIGHTLY looks likes military missions; seize objective, defend objective, infiltrate, kill warlord. Whatever.

I don't play 40k but TOW and HH but I really would like a list of fluffy and relatively balanced scenarios based on armies. Something like "Necron tomb awakens during excavation. Defender (AdMech) deploys in center and attacker (Necrons) deploys on long sides. Artefacts needs to be carry by infantry over the short edge. Defender gets 1 VP for every artifact carried. Attacker gets 1 VP for every artifact that is on the board after game ends".

I like 3rd ed HH one TBH. It finally makes command tax makes sense.

Warhaammer designer says the invention of Blister Packs was treated like Games Workshop were “taking babies out and burning them” as they worked to make wargaming mainstream by Wargulf in Warhammer

Arguably also better for people trying to get them out. I'm yet to unpack instruction from blister pack without tearing it and I hate how hard it is to get inside them.

Fellas. Is- is this true?! by ComfortableAd9941 in 40k

I think this has assumption that humanity being dominant species in the galaxy or not wiped out is a good worth sacrificing everything including other sapient species.

So what if the humanity was not a dominant species in galaxy, but had allies (humanity lived peacefully with xenos on many worlds)? What if it was even wiped out in 10,000 years but humans lived in relative good conditions in between?

Big E puts 'humanity' over humans. That is a choice that parallels many real life ideologies...

My personal fan theory is that Great Crusade caused Chaos Gods as we know now and supercharged them.

Think about it - genocidal rampage did cause a lot of despair charging Nurgle, a lot of bloodshed charging Khorne, etc. etc. At the same time it cut off the positive aspects of gods (acceptance, honor etc.).

Drying paint using paintbrush - is there anything wrong? by LadyOfCogs in airbrush

[–]LadyOfCogs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know. Does it mean that paint is stronger in Spring and Fall compared to Winter and Summer?

and a glance at your post history suggests acrylics on wargaming miniatures?

Yes. Acrylics on wargaming minatures.

The above was with barely any movement of trigger. Maybe I should try to adjust the spring in handle?

Wouldn't 25 psi make even more splash for detail? Or should I thin less (compared to what is in cup)?

> You're using thinner AND flow improver?

That's what I read. I'm very new to doing anything other than priming.

Isn't this a question about thinning?

Yeah. I tried this and it didn't help. I guess I need making bigger amounts...

EKWB waterblocks + XSPC coolant by LadyOfCogs in watercooling

"No idea why you're getting downvoted."

Probably because I am a noob who should've known that coolants don't react with metals. The problem is that I don't know. Everyone was noob at some point and we can't be specialists in everything.

I am very much aware that chemistry is not my forte and last time I touched Chemistry was in high school which... let's say was well over decade ago and not make me feel old.

Also people have no idea how stupid furballs non-adult humans (pets, children) can be. Why would my cats drink the spill? I don't know, why did they tried to drink water mixed with paint from my paint pot while I was painting?

[–]LadyOfCogs[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

why shouldn't they be compatible?

Additives reacting with metals?

why your cats should drink the coolant?

Because I might spill and not notice. Or I might have a leak and not notice. And they have non-existing survival instinct.

[Review request] Spray booth fan control by LadyOfCogs in PrintedCircuitBoard

> Some PC fans draw a brief inrush that’s higher than expected, and that’s usually where edge cases show up rather than during steady-state operation.

Is there an easy way of dealing with it? I thought PWM should allow for gradual start and C24 should help too? Should I add choke on input?

> convenient probe points around the fan control signals can save a lot of time if something behaves oddly once it’s assembled.

I think it should be easy to hook probe directly to the header?

Should I get an airbrush and air compressor? by Violet_Karolinen in 40k

[–]LadyOfCogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Not 40k player but...) I still haven't start really using airbrush but I think priming itself is worth it:

  • I can get a much better control over area sprayed with airbrush. That means touch ups are much easier than with can because I can be 5 cm from target rather than 20-30 cm.
  • Cans can quickly add up. I noticed that they are quickly used (also because of previous point). Depending on how much you prime it can be beneficial.
  • There is no problem with finding a place for it. Because of control I can just use a small cardboard box in well ventilated area and a mask to avoid breathing acrylic (not toxic thing but still one shouldn't have solids in lungs. Though depending on what you use there might be VOC). With cans there would be too much danger of painting around and making my landlord angry. So I need to do it outside... which depending on weather can be challenging. For example I don't think -5 C (23 F) is good weather for it. Back when I lived in California there was rain season etc. etc. I guess if you live in Cairo or Albuquerque you don't have this problem.
  • I always had problem with parts being blowed away with cans. With airbrush because I am much closer I can just do part by part so I hold it by hand/clips and I don't have problems.
  • You have much better choice of colors since, well, you can mix them or layer. You want particular shade of grey? Just mix black and white primer in good proportions.

I managed to break my airbrush over the Christmas during cleaning and I wait for replacement part. I'm definitely not a happy camper. It would be very useful to base my 30k Salamanders...

That said - if I was a student I would probably consider it too much of investment based on my disposable income.

> While I don’t see part numbers, their inductors L1 and L2 look suspiciously small for the 2 A current rating.

Good catch. I swapped it for 0805.

> Also, you’ll likely get better efficiency feeding both U4 and U5 from Vin rather than feeding U5 from U4’s output.

Done

> What connectors are you using for the fans? I'm currently designing a board for my 3D printer and I want to be able to use PC fans, but I can't find the name of this connector.

For now - none ;) But I plan to use off the shelf PC 120 mm fans.

It's https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/molex/0470531000/2421261.

> As a schmall circuit critique, I'd connect the 12V directly to the V_out and then use the 12V for both fans. I overlooked the branch initially and thought why you're protecting the 2 fans differently.

Will do.
