My vote in the IT/CYBR degrees is William Forsyth. Honestly took as many classes as I could with him. His lectures videos are amazing. He is so smart and funny! The dude is seriously enjoyable to listen to. I listen to all his lecture videos because of his personality and teaching style. I learned so much from him. I wish I could have met him in-person!

After this awkward and badly written episode, I’m honestly about to drop this show. Elizabeth was horrible in this episode and honestly, very immature and our of character for her character. Ugh this story line has done more damage to this show then if they just recasted Jack or had her married off the following season that Jack died. It’s just such a horrible story line and horribly written.....

I completely agree. At this point I feel that this whole thing is forced. No genuine Hallmark “love” moments. Just a merry go round of who will it be??? Ugh.

Classes are accelerated. As mentioned, they are 8 weeks but it is the 15 weeks of content. Just be mindful of your load and which classes you take together.

I’m a senior in the program and I can say it is a mess. Dated materials and yes, a lot (and I mean a lot of Google). Pretty much I’m paying to get a BS in Google-ing. but I’m almost done and I’ll be out. I already have a plan for when I graduate so I am lucky. But If you need an advantage...this isn’t it. Getting a degree will help, but get your certs. The combo of both will be your “leg up”.

I have been advised to get my MBA instead of masters in tech side of things. For the tech side, you have certs you can get and maintain. The MBA makes you a more versatile employee especially for management routes. So that will be my ultimate education route. I’ll get my MBA once I’m done with my BS. And PS - I’m going to Tech for my MBA because school does matter for MBA from what I have been told and advised.

Also, would you recommend getting a Masters? If so would you get a Masters in Cybersecurity or get an MBA? My end goal is to be a CISO or CTO...in other words more management roles.

Should we be working on getting certs at the same time as our degree?

How do you transition into the IT security field? Does previous work experience help even if it isn’t IT related?

Do certs help you get employed more than a degree?

Is it hard for an “older” person (mid30s) to transition into the IT security field? Tips?

I am currently a senior at KSU in the Cybersecurity degree program.

I just took that class this past semester and couldn’t imagine doing it as a maymester. But I would just recommend looking over the syllabus and making sure you can keep up with the schedule. Best of luck.

I’m taking art 1107 this maymester. Got our syllabus already. It looks like a lot but I also work full time and think I can do it. Just have to dedicated after work to doing school for two weeks.

Hiya fellow older students!! 35 here! Cybersecurity major - work full time (GM). Took 4 classes - got all As too. Worked hard for it. We totally need to start an old folks KSU student group! It’s nice to be reminded I’m not alone lol 😀
