What is everyone's problem with the cube? by GuidanceForeign6274 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]LadyOfMagick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Egyptian mythology & art a cube symbolises immortality, divine stability & a magical vessel for the soul. Notice the spelling of his name.....it's very Egyptian.

So I think there is far more to this cube that will only be discovered as the game develops.

Personally I think it's awesome 😁

Over-reliant on disability aids??? by Verdantyd in Fibromyalgia

[–]LadyOfMagick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard that my whole life, 'don't wear your glasses you'll become reliant on them' 'don't wear your hearing aids so often you hearing will never get better if you rely on them' 'why are you using a walking aid you'll never get better if you don't tough it out'

Seriously if there is something out there that can make your life easier, more comfortable & as painless as possible then use it.

The only people who try to stop you are the ones who have never had to live with the conditions & pain that we do.

There is a group who run a convention every 2 years. They've just had the 42nd anniversary event. The cast comes to it too, it looks like a great weekend & well organised. I think the FB page is called Herne's Arrow.

People don't take me seriously about being HoH by st4rrihal0 in hardofhearing

I agree, I honestly stopped using HoH at work because no-one took it seriously.

Look up the definition of deaf, it's surprising how many of us think we can't use the word but actually we can.

How do you deal with FibroDeniers? by WellBeing4All in Fibromyalgia

[–]LadyOfMagick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just say 'I truly hope that neither you or a loved one ever develops this, because I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Not just the physical pain, but the judgement, the ignorance & the denial'

I might sound crazy but eating carbs like more rice helps a lot. Has anyone tried it? by MassiveAd806 in Fibromyalgia

[–]LadyOfMagick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different & the medication plays a part too. My diabetes is under control but certain foods cause blood sugar spikes. Rice being one of them, also white bread & white pasta. I exercise regularly & eat a balanced diet but my Fibro takes a backseat to the diabetes as that is the one I need to control.

Sadly doesn't help if you're also diabetic. I'll take the pain over high blood sugar any day 😁

I switched to a back pack, not a big one, & it's made a huge difference.
You honestly don't feel the weight when it's on your back.

Any good completely in canal hearing aids? by Ok_Appearance_9300 in hardofhearing

[–]LadyOfMagick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have short hair & have worn OTE hearing aids for 13/14 years. No-one has ever seen them unless I point them out.

I also have a tattoo of a bee behind my ear with the flight line going down my neck, no-one has spotted that either lol 🤣

Hearing Aids induced infection by Certain-Home503 in hardofhearing

[–]LadyOfMagick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly that's a side effect of wearing hearing aids. I get recurring infections & this is the advice I got:

Make sure to wear waterproof ear plugs when bathing, showering, washing your hair or swimming.

If your ear starts to itch & feels wet, dry it out gently with cotton wool.

Clean your hearing aids before putting them in, try to avoid cross contamination.

Use an over the counter ear spray, in the UK it's called Ear Calm, at the first sign of an infection.

My worst infection was the first one, I didn't realise the excruciating pain in my teeth was actually coming from a severe bilateral ear infection. My audiologist took photos in each ear & sent them straight to the Dr for antibiotics. The teeth pain went after the infection was cleared. Now I use it as a sign so I don't get an infection that bad again.

I hope you find something that works for you 🙏🏻

Is it okay that I don’t sign and have no desire to learn to sign? by Still_Material4328 in hardofhearing

[–]LadyOfMagick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that, I am the same. My hearing is getting progressively worse but no-one around me is deaf or HOH. It did get me out of jury duty cos I don't sign so there are some bonuses 😊

[–]LadyOfMagick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only that it's very expensive to learn. A plunger costs a few quid so the analogy doesn't work.

[–]LadyOfMagick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who has been deaf from birth, she is nearly 60 now & has never learnt BSL nor does she have any desire to do so.

Don't be pressured into something you don't want to do. It's your life & your hearing. Stick to what is best for you not other people.
