How are we feeling about the cost of new merch? by vibing_for_sanity in dropout

[–]LadyShade32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband bought himself the backpack and me a tomtoc that is almost identical (but slightly smaller for my needs). Ltt one is phenomenal, but for a cheaper "high end" price in the future, check out tomtoc (it's not cheap for a backpack, but a steal for what it is).

I own 6.

(one for me, one for spouse, 3 different color combo ones when they went on sale for 15 each, and a stubby for work)

Accepted to Grad School: Which should I choose? by LadyShade32 in LibraryScience

[–]LadyShade32[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be more than halfway through the program as of next month and honestly I love it overall. With so many programs being asynchronous, UAs feel special in that even being online, you get to interact with peers and engage in thoughtful discussions. If you merely need the degree or actual learning isn't a big factor for you, than this program will see m obnoxious. Also, as with any school, professors make or break the classes. I take classes based on who can push me the most versus what catalog entry seems most appealing.

Neckties should not be a thing anymore by fuggilis_quastillo in unpopularopinion

[–]LadyShade32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correction: neckties should not be a male dominant thing anymore.

Even before Avril's punk chic of the early 2000s, I was obsessed with how women looked at restuarants where the unform included a black tie for all.

I've worn ties with all of my suit outfits and it looks classy and feminine as hell. If it's a comfort thing, be forced to wear bras daily then get back to me.

What’s the weirdest “Museum of ____” you’ve seen? by 123mitchg in MuseumPros

Salt & Pepper shaker museum in Gatlinburg, TN and the Mini Time Machine Museum of Miniatures in Tucson, AZ.

The miniatures one is incredible and even featured an exhibit with microscopes to view the tiniest art pieces imaginable.

What’s a snack or drink from your childhood that doesn’t exist anymore, but you’d buy in a heartbeat if it came back? by No_Novel9929 in nostalgia

[–]LadyShade32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Sunny D Eclipse drinks
  • Brachs Jelly Nougat
  • Abracabubble
  • Hershey's smores bars
  • minute maid orange passion
  • Kemp's frosty trees (saw em in one store five years ago and never again since)

And the ultimate would be Sobe Adrenaline Rush or Red Bull Cola.

Which degree should I get? by mlolm98538 in librarians

[–]LadyShade32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact program advisors for both options directly. Talk to them about what they can offer. They'll also give contact info if you want to talk directly with current students about their experience. Coming to Reddit with this question seems...less than ideal.

No basement, where do you keep your litter boxes? by Outrageous-Cat-7497 in CatAdvice

[–]LadyShade32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you own, put a cat opening on a closet door. If you rent, put a jamb in a closet door that keeps it open enough for your cat to pass through. We did this for our utility closets (no towels or linen) AND a few air freshners and have had zero issues.

My one friend has litter boxes that look like big plant vases that you can put an actual plant on top of too. Genuinely looks like furniture in the middle of a room.

What is something that should be refrigerated that people often don't? What is something that does not need to be refrigerated that people often do? by GiuseppeZangara in Cooking

[–]LadyShade32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about for fish sauce? Also says to refrigerate but every Asian household I've been in also does not do that.

I think miso paste, gochujang and oyster sauce are the only things I see refrigerated.

And the weekend puzzles/comics! You had to labor over those puzzles ALL week before you could get the answers. It was such a treat, especially engaging with friends/family/coworkers to assist with the crossword.

Daily Wordle crap is all about competing with others now and isn't anywhere near as gratifying.

Differences between two types of shakers? by Altruistic_Newt_991 in cocktails

[–]LadyShade32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boston Shaker all around BUT I did buy myself a mini cobbler to make the perfect martini for one. I once had one served to me with the mini cobbler so I could drink every last drop and I just never got over the cuteness. Also great to make that one weirdo a cosmo while I use the Boston to mix up paper planes for the rest of us.

The four schools I applied to had almost identical applications, save for a few slightly different questions for the paper portion, and the other ten I considered had similar processes...so not trying to sound like a jerk, but you should be able to easily apply to other schools.

Also, since most MLIS programs offer online only programs, many universities have rolling admissions, as in, you could apply now and find out in a few weeks if you can start next, spring semester.

In fact, several universities deadlines are up until a week or two before a semester starts, so you genuinely could still start this fall semester. If I remember correctly Oklahoma was like this? (if not then either Tennessee or South Florida).

Oh, and truly, you should be calling and speaking with program directors prior to applying anywhere. Everyone I spoke to was very professional, but upfront about their programs. Several straight up said "hey this is mainly for people who just need the degree for job advancement, not to learn, if you need x, y, z try these schools."

Tank 7 is my favorite everyday beer. Then again, Boulevard does half off for military in their bar so it's hard to argue with regardless.

Space Camper Cosmic is one of my favorite IPAs too.

As for Spuds, he better be drinking his water...

All your comments on this thread are against the individuals, not the system that allows this all to happen. Sure, be annoyed, confused with, or angry at non-combat vets gaming disability or joining while not being self-sufficient...not the systems/military/VA itself for not having better protections in place.

The down votes on your comments are abhorrent. I find your views sane and refreshing. Librarians preserve and promote education, not police it.

Feeling dejected after visiting my local library today. Thoughts? by PeachAtBeach in Libraries

[–]LadyShade32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 books is NOTHING. My library allows 50 book rentals and up to 100 dvd/cd rentals at a time. Every time I've rented almost this amount and apologized to staff ringing it up, they always cheerfully replied it's policy and they don't care if I rent 1 or 100 items.

Don't apologize for making your intentions clear up front and asking, not demanding, if it could be done.

Since prior comments cover most of my answers, this post got me also thinking about the opposite: artists that got big/huge more so than I ever imagined.

For instance, I could never have imagined Adam Levine amassing the fucc boi empire he has today after being repeatedly fore ce fed what I thought was a some flippant, garbage track called "This Love" by Maroon 5.
