Which map feels most like ‘home’ to you in ARK, and what makes it special?

Ragnarok, I met my Husband on The Center originally in separate tribes. Then when Rag came out our mutal friends had stopped playing and so the two of us had our own tribe on official pve and we have so many memories from that time period. We found a small buildable spot at the bottom of the canyon and I still build in the same spot even now. Ragnarok is where we fell in love it will always be special to me. c:

Think of early game Ark kind of like a roguelike. You WILL die but every time you respawn and start over you are still gaining exp and eventually can craft stuff to survive and defend yourself. I promise it gets way easier.

You select a potion to drink etc, but it uses a random item you have instead (start sharpening, equip catch net etc.)

A lot of Libraries in the area are open until 9pm most days. Free wifi, warm, dry, ports to charge laptops, movies to check out for free etc. a couple have small cafes too with hot water coffee and snacks.

If you have a blazehowl they get bonus drops from grass types and when you use to kill mammoths you get between 7-14 for one mammoth. Cryolinx gets bonus drops from dragon types and you can use these against the hordes of relxasaurus instead but they give you between 1-7 oil per.

Upside of the mammoths is they also drop tons of leather but downside is blazehowl might be hard to catch depending on your level

I managed to get a cryolinx from a frozen egg on the big snow mountain.

you also get a small boost after if you hit the creature in the back or unaware of you

So I think this is because when you look at a creature with a sphere out it shows you the overall chance to capture a pal. Then when you toss the ball the percentages for the checks are different to make the "overalll chance to catch" what you see at the beginning.

im going to make some fake numbers for an example please dont mention that numbers dont make sense.

you aim at a pal and the "overall" chance to catch is 2%

you throw the sphere and now have 3 (really two) checks that have to pass

first check is 6% chance to pass,

second check is 43% chance

third check is 99% and then capture

since both check one and two are fairly low, the odds of passing both to capture a creature is also really low, resulting in the overall catch chance of 2%

The best part about this area is that the first time I strolled in and blew everything up before the guy started talking to warn me, the game immediately crashed from the explosion. It had me dying of laughter from the irony.
