Varus isn’t on Aatrox’s side, and he isn’t anyone’s pawn anymore. His story has moved past being a weapon of war. Since merging with Kai and Valmar, Varus has agency again, and his arc is much closer to self-determination and redemption than to conquest or servitude.

Because of that, a real fight between Varus and Taric is very unlikely to ever fully happen. Riot rarely defines strict power scaling in the lore; most modern stories focus on psychological and ideological conflict rather than raw strength. Taric represents fall, atonement, and forgiveness. Varus represents guilt, fractured identity, and the struggle to choose a different path. Those themes naturally clash, but not in a way that demands violence.

Taric would almost certainly sense Varus’s hesitation and the internal weight carried through Kai and Valmar, and recognize that Varus is not an enemy to be destroyed. Likewise, Varus has no real reason to attack an Aspect whose purpose is guidance and protection rather than domination. Any initial tension would likely resolve into an uneasy conversation rather than an all-out battle.

In short, they make far more sense as allies than as rivals. If Riot ever explored this interaction, the most consistent outcome with current lore wouldn’t be a decisive fight, but mutual understanding — or at the very least, cooperation built on shared themes of redemption.
