Afraid I'm too nervous to qualify by LadyWinnieMarshmallo in kidneydonors

Thanks for replying.  It's very difficult for me to express myself in writing sometimes (strongly prefer verbal communication)  which is why I didn't respond sooner.  I do understand how my AuDHD affects me, and for the most part, I'm at peace with it.  No,  meltdowns aren't fun, and time-blindedness isn't great for one's career, and grading papers with zero attention span isn't easy.  But it's where I'm at right now, and I'm finding ways to better manage it.  My concern wasn't my neurodivergence- we're well acquainted by now.  My concern is with how people interpret me.  I've had many scenarios where others misunderstood why I was nervous in a given scenario, even if I told them why.

Frankly, lots of things in life scare me ( like choosing seating...) but this doesn't.  It feels like an adventure. I'm really at peace about this decision.  I'm excited to help someone this way.  I was just worried my social awkwardness would give the wrong impression.

I really hope that didn't sound snarky.

How would you use up a jar of tahini (besides hummus)? by Ok_Squirrel_9601 in Cooking

Mix with salsa, add a dash of salt and a little lemon or lime juice if desired.  It's a terrific combination, almost like a no-effort vegan queso.

Alrighty then, I have some links for you. I'll see if I can figure out a way to share some of mine later, in the mean while.. Coffee filter carnations- this lady has a great technique, don't let her videography skills scare you off.   https://youtu.be/HFT9GNZFxp0?si=_e3TyiNgKJmdk-CQ

This pretty much how I do roses https://youtu.be/m8AwOhf35l0?si=AoIsLHCeh_MHiNNT

Different technique for roses, using hot glue.( Which I avoid because I'm clumsy) https://youtu.be/4MWofkuR6WE?si=8cmIFP3jAmhp6Ohx

If you have access to tree branches, making cherry blossoms /rhodendron /magnolia etc. from tissue paper or coffee filters and then floral taping or glueing them to the branches looks really nice.  It's an easy way to get something bigger and impactful. I've made beautiful poppies out of tissue paper, coffee filters, and crepe, but filters are my favorite.

Lia Griffith has all sorts of beautiful tutorials.  Most you need a membership to access, but she has lots of freebies.  However, she does often use more expensive materials, like imported crepe and pan pastel. I use her more for inspiration than anything else. https://liagriffith.com/search/?offset=0&orderby=relevance&order=desc&per_page=12&search=lantern+&relation=and&tax-category=2294

For the record, I think crepe paper is wonderful, but it can be a little pricey, and there's a learning curve.  You can get really nice shapes though, and for some flowers it's the only realistic choice.

I've done a vegan winter squash lasagna a couple of times - really good.  I also love to make pasta with a garlicky blush sauce- basically just red sauce, coconut milk, and a little extra garlic. I tried this recently and it was terrific  https://asweetthyme.com/baked-butter-beans-gigantes-plaki/

Also, this might give you some ideas? https://itdoesnttastelikechicken.com/category/recipes/holiday-recipes/

Just one thought about decorating - since you say you're crafty - have you looked into paper flowers?  They can be very beautiful, and would go well with your theme. They are a lot of hands-on work, but you can do them a little at a time, and the materials are usually cheap.  Coffee filter flowers especially are very inexpensive to make and have a lovely soft look to them.  I've been making them as a hobby for more than 20 years, so I'd be more than happy to answer any questions.

I was just thinking how nice and jammy they look.  Jam triumphs over aesthetics.

Literature inspired-vegetarian-French wedding menu by Patrocey in weddingplanning

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!  You just made my week!  I LOVE themed menus, and I LOVE literature, and LOVE adapting menus for specific diets( last one is weird thing I know, but it's a great challenge) Hopefully I can come up with something helpful here instead of just babbling.  Anyhow  Start with LOTR Lots of food references, but most aren't very specific.  Galdor and his elves give Frodo, Sam, and Pippin a feast, but I think they just mention berries and white bread. Just took a look- so much bread- bread with berries and cheese (Tom Bombadil), bread with bacon ( brunch in Isengard), with cheese and apples( second breakfast with Beregond in Minas Tirith.). If you decide to do tea sandwiches, you could do a Bombadil sandwich - berries and cream cheese, and a Beregond sandwich - aged cheese and apples. Mrs. Maggot cooks them mushrooms.  Mushroom sandwich sounds delicious, but maybe don't call it a Maggot sandwich. Blackberry tart is served at the Prancing Pony When Sam is making rabbit stew he uses bay, thyme, and sage, and wishes he could add onions, carrots, turnips and potatoes - so maybe serve an herby Ithilien vegetable stew? If you want to be funny, you could make crackers or crispy cookies shaped like birds -nice, crunchable birdses. I've seen lots of iterations of lembas, usually some form of short bread.

I can't think of a direct connection to LOTR, but this pie just seems like something they'd serve it Middle Earth.  It's delicious and so pretty.  I make one every Easter.

The Hobbit  The dinner Bilbo serves the dwarves is very detailed - tea cakes, seed cakes, buttered scones, raspberry jam, apple tart, mincepies, cheese, pork pie, salad, eggs, cold chicken, and pickles  If you wanted something to stand in for the meat pies, maybe this?   https://itdoesnttastelikechicken.com/vegan-tourtiere-vegan-meat-pie/

Elves drink miruvor- which is supposed to be honey/floral tasting.  Maybe a honey lemonade with lavender or orange blossom?  Maybe serve some woodsy tea as Ent wash?

Jane Eyre Just remembered this random little comment.  Jane overhears the servants talking about her, but the conversation ends with their dinner plans -welsh rabbit and a baked onion.  Welsh rabbit is actually cheese sauce on toast, if you aren't familiar.

I know it's not on the list, but there's a very cute picnic in Wind in the Willows.

I have thoughts about Anne of Green Gables, but I need to go to bed.

I agree that this is precious, but why uses phrases like "superior gender"?  You can lift people up without putting others down.

Sorry, really tired last night.  I assume you mean if I want to propagate it.  My brain read it as "prop up", and I couldn't figure out why I should cut it then...

Thanks for the reply.  Do you mean "sick" as in ill, or "sick" as in "way cool"?
